Thanks!

I think the pointy toe and silver zip saves them. Almond shaped, shorter toe and gold zip might've tipped them over the line.

Ones Paddington posted aren't Mum boots imo. They aren't plain enough.

Wicked's New Look ones definitely aren't MBs.

I love my comfy footgloves, and my Next comfy chelsea boots which are also probably mummish.

I like the pointy ones in the OP also, they don't look as mummish as my chelsea boots.

I am old though Grin

I actually hate the whole "mum boots" thing on mumsnet.

If you're a busy mum with young kids you go walking with a lot or to the park you're going to pick something comfy with a good sole and not too high a heel. It's just common sense. You'd be a bit daft trotting about in high heels or suede just for them to get covered in mud. And some of the more "fashionable" styles of boots won't last two seconds with the perils of pushchair pushing in bad weathers and muddy paths if you live in the country like I do.

I have two pairs of boots - a Chelsea type boot from Clarks and a pair of doc martens ! I'm 35. I'm a mum and if I'm going out and about I don't care if I look like one!

If I'm going on a night out then it's a different story! :)

Hear hear Fairylea.

I also have dogs and an enormous bunion. My boots of choice are heavy duty lace up walking boots most of the time. Between DD and the dogs any heeled / suede /anything other than practical boots would be pretty much wrecked in days.
When I go out I wear ridiculously spindly, high-heeled boots until the bunion starts to throb, then I take them off

AndAPartridgeInAPearwood · 08/01/2016 07:47

As to wearing them with bootlegs and a fleece ...... I thought bootlegs were cutting edge again and skinnies were on the way out? please say yes, I have been waiting nearly 10 years

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 08/01/2016 11:18

but I'm not a "busy mum" pushing a buggy around the countryside, I am a mum of teens who often goes out without them and when I do, I like to try and look a bit stylish even though I'm over 50 so shoot me

definitely mum boots - I have a genuine fear of the black heeled mum boot, it just rockets one into instant frumpiness whatever you wear - imho I wouldn't go near them

Sadik · 08/01/2016 14:54

confusedandemployed - I think that's a much better answer, though. Leather walking boots for dog walking/mud/parks, and then impractical funky boots for going out.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 08/01/2016 15:00

yes, 100%

TPel · 08/01/2016 15:07

I think they are great for everyday- I had a similar pair from Prada in the 90's.

I have a Cara store near me, I might have a look for them too. (I am 50 too, perhaps it's an age thing.)

DoubleDeClutchMuch · 08/01/2016 15:22

Tpel they're from a couple of seasons back, no longer in stock AFAIK.

The MN theory of Mumboots is bonkers. It's so subjective.

Wear what the heck you like and pay no attention to others

JackandDiane · 08/01/2016 17:00

No it was bloody not.

You go to the natural history museum at half term. Loads of them
