I am going for

  1. Cut and colour. Not everyone colours their hair some of us only when we needed to at about 42
  2. Wrap dresses and big tits

I hate 50s style dressss. They cut off at a wide part of the calves and are usually suggested for larger ladies, leading to one deep, long line of cleavage and lots of excessive back fat / armpit fat squished over

The poster who added pics earlier in the thread - the black fitted dress you posted to last looks great, the others aren't for me. The striped dress needs proper rights rather than cropped leggings.

There was a thread that made me laugh about people shaving their heads, complete with pics. Some people looked genuinely amazing with the shaved head but others looked like potatoes (much as I'd look if I shaved my head!)

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 30/12/2015 21:40

Tethers, your wardrobe sounds ace.
I personally don't like all the 50s style dresses and frills etc.

I prefer to look like someone who's rolled out of Woodstock Confused

Even though that's my personal style I still try and give objective advice depending on what people are asking. I wouldnt suggest a hippy floaty midriff baring two piece to someone who is asking about office wear for example.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2015 21:48

Tail - your coat looks nice. I was thinking more of this sort of raincoat though!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2015 21:49

Also you are v slim, so most things would look nice on you.

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 21:50

Oh yeah Remus that would look funny! I think if you do something "out there" you have to stick to it if not you end up looking funny.

It's why I either look like I've stepped off an old movie set or homeless. No Inbetween, go hard or go home Blush

Grin
TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 21:52

Thank you Remus. Trousers look crap on me though I assure you Grin

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/12/2015 22:06

I struggle with dresses. This is v annoying, as I really love them - sadly, most of them don't love me.

BuggersMuddle · 30/12/2015 22:27

Anything recommended for petite people really. I am huge of nork and er, sturdy of shoulder, so most 'petite' clothing makes me look like a rugby player.

Examples would be:

  • crisp white shirt on top
  • shirt & cardie with statement jewellery
  • cropped jacket / cardie / anything

I fully accept though that I am not an average shape at all being short, broad, booby, but not fat as such, so unless I describe just that, I wouldn't expect any kind of tailored advice.

I enjoy S&B. It gives me inspiration for brands and styles / items I've not considered. For fit, I go to the shops Smile

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2015 22:32

I know two people have said tights but I don't wear them as they're not as practical, and they never fit me due to the hip/waist difference. I know they cut my legs off but at 5ft 11.. Meh. Not everything people wear has to be perfectly flattering all the time
Sometimes I wear stuff just because I like it or it's comfy or fun

TaliZorah · 30/12/2015 22:53

Hollin if you wanna try something like tights but more practical stockings are great. I'm long legged/short bodied so I have to buy large tights for the leg and then the top but comes up to my bra! Stockings allow for more variation in leg lengths hip size etc plus they're easier when using the loo!

Also you should come to the vintage thread Grin

NoMore314 · 30/12/2015 22:55

I'm short too, 5'1 and a half Smile I like to think I carry myself with the gravitas of a much taller woman, and in fact, sometimes people do say "what height are you? 5'3"?" I feel delighted.

I'm not a fan of creating an outfit to look 'quirky'. I have a friend who just is quirky and her looks go from batshit crazy to absolutely amazing; but she always looks right for her. I would look hilarious. But then, I love Mint Velvet so I know fuck all. Grin

Titsywoo · 30/12/2015 23:02

If you do curly girl right it does work. I tried and it looked shit. Had my hair cut by a curly girl hairdresser and she showed me how to do my hair properly. Looks AMAZING when curly now. The cut helps but the washing and styling is the main thing. I still use shampoo though just a non silicon one - mine lathers and everything. Definitely recommended if done properly.

Queenbean · 30/12/2015 23:13

I deliberately order tights that have a long waist band as I love them sitting under my boobs. Ultimate comfort.

Hollin all tights should be stretchy enough to not be baggy on the waist. If yours are and you want some, get thee to M&S pronto

hollinhurst84 · 30/12/2015 23:19

Queen they don't fit
Too tall, too much waist difference and no bum Grin so they just slide down. I really don't mind though, I quite like quirky ankle boots and cropped leggings. Just dislike tights
It's for something I chuck on to supermarket or going for coffee so...

ouryve · 30/12/2015 23:44

As far as the woman in the 2 outfits is concerned, if she wore that red dress for a walk in the park in Autumn, she'd be bloody cold.

There's a time and a place for putting "quirky" above comfortable and practical.

TheSpectreOfMorningtonCrescent · 30/12/2015 23:44

I got to page 8 and realised I had/did something that people hate on each page.
But then I'm neither stylish or beautiful.

BrendaandEddie · 30/12/2015 23:54

FAshion is not supposed to be fun. That statement is quite goady imo!!!

Fun fashion!

argh

user7755 · 31/12/2015 00:00

Its a totally different woman in those photos Grin

I like the mad old bag lady chic, in fact every time my 2 year old granddaughter visits, I wish they did her clothes in my size.

My husband is my barometer, he thinks I'm weird, but sometimes he takes me to one side and says 'it's too much now, go and get changed'.

BrendaandEddie · 31/12/2015 00:01

theyll be on about safe spaces next
