What is it about your style that makes it 'you'?

some pics would be good- with head cropped for anonymity

I am looking to haul meself (once again) out of the scruffy totally unstylish lump I am Grin

HarrietSchulenberg · 21/12/2015 19:37

Crazy cat lady / bag lady chic here. Boots, tights, leggings, long tunics, jumpers, cardigans, layers, jeans occasionally, and usually scarves. Blues, greens, black and sometimes purple and pinks.
Fucking awful really but it's my "style".

stareatthetvscreen · 21/12/2015 19:40

mad granny

not an actual granny btw

iklboo · 21/12/2015 19:41

Post apocalypse zombie trailer trash

Or 50s (that's 1950s style, not look like I'm in me 50s) gin addled faded movie star wannabe vamp if we're going out.

MsButteryMash · 21/12/2015 19:47

I supposed it's kind of retro feminist creative, which can easily tip over into "dresses like a student"

Floral or print dresses or skirts, opaques, boots
Retro style shift dresses in interesting prints or textures
Bright colours, eg eye-zapping mustard mini with opaques
Lots of black, grey and taupe to set off the colours and prints
In summer, birkenstocks with bright toenails

All this is when I have time to make an effort – when in a rush I throw on jeans, DMs, all saints or similar layered t-shirts, cardie and necklace.

MsButteryMash · 21/12/2015 19:48

Oh and I forgot the short, dyed crop.

MsButteryMash · 21/12/2015 19:50

And only warm colours - pinks, orange, purple, yellow, mustard but never blue (except dark jeans).

PennyPants · 21/12/2015 20:06

Black biker jacket or denim jacket.
Boots, high heeled ankle boots for going out.
Skinny jeans in black, grey, coated leather.
Long vest tops, with a cropped jumper over in winter or fitted shirts.
Colours - mainly black, blue and grey. No patterns.
Always wear earrings, rings, mascara, blusher and lipgloss.
Longish blonde, slightly messy hair.
80% of my nights out involve watching live music- mostly rock/indie/blues.

Kennington · 21/12/2015 20:52

Skinny black jeans or trousers plus ankle boots - heals normally plus slouchy tops, all dark.
Hair messy highlights.
Gold jewellery.
Very plain but I like that I don't have to make a big effort.
I do alway wear some make up.
Ideally I would like to look like a Milanese woman or a woman from neuilly. No such luck!

lalalonglegs · 21/12/2015 21:28

Colour blocking - lots of simple bright colours worn together (I'm not very good at patterns and prints though).

GeorginaWorsley · 21/12/2015 21:46

I used to be very much boden /white stuff but over past few years I have list a couple of stone/dress sizes and my new stuff is in a very different simpler style.
Colours are navy grey black plum and white.
I wear coated jeans in black, navy or plum with grey/navy/white/plum tops.
I don't wear dresses as much in daytime any more but when I do I feel quite glamorous!

ephemeralfairy · 21/12/2015 23:35

Blingy gold jewellery
Exposed zips
Trainers: gold Reebok Classics current faves
I don't wear jeans often: prefer skirts or cropped trousers
I seem to have a lot of pleather and leopard print at the moment
This all sounds very tacky!
I always wear glasses, which I think tempers the tack a bit! I like to think that anyway......
I don't like cardigans: I prefer slouchy jackets/bomber jackets.
I have quite a few sweatshirts and jumpers: printed/embellished
I like bright or offbeat sort of colours. I don't suit pastels.
I love school uniform colours: navy, mustard yellow, grey, bottle green.
I wear coloured or textured tights a lot.
I quite like hats...

Top of my shopping list for the new year is a pair of classic eight-hole DMs.

ephemeralfairy · 21/12/2015 23:37

Oh and I like clashing prints. Reading all that back makes me sound like a cross between Su Pollard and Edina from AbFab..... Confused

Judydreamsofhorses · 22/12/2015 10:35

Leopard print, stripes, flat shoes or boots, dress and opaques, or skinny jeans and blouse/jumper, faux fur, Louise Brooks type bob hair, red lipstick, painted nails, liquid eyeliner. Bit 60s. Never knowingly under-dressed.

limesoda · 22/12/2015 11:59

Lots of black, things from Cos or similar, only ever flat shoes. Cropped red hair, pearl studs every day.

BoboChic · 22/12/2015 12:01

Gold and silver - I love metallics. But in a very casual way.

Very dark grungy colours, but never ever black (lots of dark green/muddy grey/burgundy/teal/navy), underdressed and slouchy but always with some bodycon/fitted aspect (skinny jeans/skintight jersey dress), huge scarves, biker boots. DH said the other day that I looked like I belonged in a post apocalyptic movie Hmm Grin.

Ughnotagain · 22/12/2015 13:52

Hopefully you sound great!

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 22/12/2015 15:39

I have two styles. In winter I live in ripped jeans, band tees and huge jumpers.

In summer very hippyish, lots of white, floaty, long wavy hair.

Lndnmummy · 22/12/2015 16:40

Scandinavian minimalistic. Alot of black and neutrals. Alot of dresses, always below the knee. Hair, makeup and nails always done.

Lndnmummy · 22/12/2015 16:41

Limesoda, you sound like me Smile apart frm the red crop.

ARichVernacular · 22/12/2015 17:47

Big boots and messy hair. I never really moved on from Lynda Day as my style icon.

jamtartandcustard · 22/12/2015 18:07

Skinny jeans, long line vest and cardigan. Usually black tops, I can't even wear white or light colours as I'm forever spilling tea. Ballet pumps. Simple stud earrings and simple necklace. Messy bun.
Quite boring really

WhatamessIgotinto · 22/12/2015 18:09

God, reading this has made me realise how utterly boring I am.
