they are from Hobbs

I have about £300 to spend on some decent boots, and these look pretty good to me. I have had some Hobbs boots before and they were really good quality, do you think these are worth it, or are there better brands I should look at. I want something plain, that I can wear with tights, leggings etc with long tunic tops.

Any suggestions oh oracles of style?

Perfectly nice and inoffensive but a bit boring or a classic. I'd wear them. They'd never go out of fashion as are just plain black boots.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2015 18:33

They are okay - ridiculously expensive though. I don't think you need to spend anywhere near that for decent boots which will last a couple of winters.

Greengardenpixie · 22/09/2015 18:48

I find the boring tbh. For that price i would get something far nicer.

NotTodaySatan · 22/09/2015 18:50

Don't like them.

Flat and featureless and bland.

Agree with Remus that you could get much nicer for much less.

Follyfoot · 22/09/2015 18:54

These are similar and lots less money.

BrendaandEddie · 22/09/2015 18:55

they are SO SO BORING

and step away from tunics

Millipedewithherfeetup · 22/09/2015 18:56

Sorry but agree with the others, very expensive and they look a bit welly ish will have a quick look around to see what else is around, do they have to be black ?

cuntycowfacemonkey · 22/09/2015 18:56

For £300 I would want something much nicer. I am sure they are excellent quality and will last ages but they are VERY plain

BrendaandEddie · 22/09/2015 18:56

clarks have some long OTK ones with stretch back for £140 that are nicer than those clod hoppers

Cocolepew · 22/09/2015 18:57

Expensive welly boots.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2015 18:57

Agree that they are rather welly-esque. Was my first thought tbh, but I was trying to be tactful. Sorry, Sarf.

SmugairleRoin · 22/09/2015 18:58

Inoffensive but boring.
And certainly not worth the price imo! You could get something better.

SarfEast1cated · 22/09/2015 18:59

BUT I AM BORING! Toast can be a bit racy for me :) I have a wardrobe full of Smedley jumpers, Toast tunics and assorted jackets. We have had a small windfall which is why I wanted to buy some boots that would really last. My other Hobbs boots are 10 years old. I am also pretty old, so not looking for high fashion.

"welly-esque" how very dare you.
You have ruined them for me now you know, you beasts!

any suggestions would be gratefully received.

follyfoot the Boden ones are lovely! Thanks - very nice, plain but nice.

Millipedewithherfeetup · 22/09/2015 19:08

SorryFlowers

amarmai · 22/09/2015 19:11

nothing wrong with tunics and leggings and plain boots- sounds like my get ups. I go for a splash of color or pattern to liven things up.

SarfEast1cated · 22/09/2015 19:24

I've rallied now Millie but thanks for the flowers :). The Boden ones are much nicer.
Amarai can we start a club? I like wrap dresses too...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2015 19:26

Still v expensive and I have no idea of the quality of this brand. Maybe a bit more interesting? I'm struggling though tbh - most of the knee high, flat boots I've found so far are really not v nice.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 22/09/2015 19:27

I like the Boden ones.

scatterthenuns · 22/09/2015 19:28

Too horsey.

I just bought a lovely Kurt Geiger pair for a similar price and they are a million % more stylish and less mumsy.

ShouldHavenotOf · 22/09/2015 19:29

Poor OP, but yes they are a bit welly-ish.

I don't like that length of boot anymore, they're a bit dated. Ankle or bikers would be better imo.

Shockers · 22/09/2015 19:32

I quite like 'em OP!

Lambzig · 22/09/2015 19:36

Hmm, nothing wrong with them, but they are very plain.

I had the same thought about six years ago and bought some classic Russell and Bromley black riding boots. I thought I would wear them to death, but they are so plain and Classic that the seem to bore up anything I put them with, and I am by no means an out there dresser.

Maybe the same style in a more interesting colour?
