they are from Hobbs

I have about £300 to spend on some decent boots, and these look pretty good to me. I have had some Hobbs boots before and they were really good quality, do you think these are worth it, or are there better brands I should look at. I want something plain, that I can wear with tights, leggings etc with long tunic tops.

Any suggestions oh oracles of style?

Just found these: jack wills

and they're similar (but cheap!)

SarfEast1cated · 23/09/2015 09:22

Crikey Brucie, they have them in a 6 too! you are a miracle worker. Thanks :)

I'm not a fan of knee high boots and even less of a fan of black boots, but I'm so drawn to those Hobbs ones!

I'll get my coat.

Twinklestein · 23/09/2015 10:21

I disagree with most people in that if you want a pair of riding boots the Hobbs are a lot nicer (and better quality) than the Boden - which look cheap and Boden footwear is always really uncomfortable.

That said, I would personally go for these LK Bennett ones for the same price as the Hobbs.

They're half and half - ie the back's elasticated which makes them more slim-fitting and more comfortable.

Glasspumpkin · 23/09/2015 10:38

Very bland and look like wellies

niminypiminy · 23/09/2015 10:43

I like them actually - like the Boden ones too. I hate anything with zips and buckles, can't understand why people want 'interesting' boots tbh.

Plain, really, really good quality is so much more elegant.

MrsMarigold · 23/09/2015 11:44

I have had similar boots from Hobbs and they fitted well on my quite slim legs and were very very comfy, not at all welly-esque. I used to wear mine with black tights, a colour block a-line skirt and a black cashmere polo neck. I hate embellishments and think they look cheap.

lotrben17 · 23/09/2015 12:14

i agree with you twinkle, my boden ankle boots are much harder to walk in and more uncomfy than all my other boots. Anyone seen any gorgeous brown suede flat boots this year? R&B had some faux fur lined ones but they're only doing them in black this year plus can't figure out what the faux fur top would look good with.

LaCerbiatta · 23/09/2015 13:05

I've got similar ones. They're beautiful and classical and will always be elegant. Boden's shoes are neither great quality nor comfortable ime.

Patapouf · 23/09/2015 13:45

I think they are lovely, and the style is classic. The quality looks great too! I'm in my mid twenties and I'd wear them so they are hardly mumsy

Patapouf · 23/09/2015 13:47

I can't stop staring at them actually. Blast my fat calves or I'd be ordering some for me!

Nearlyadoctor · 23/09/2015 15:13

I love these - have them in leather and suede and after five years the leather ones still look like new and they have been worn anywhere and everywhere. ( only had suede 2 years so far) wish I'd bought them when they did the brown suede as well.

lotrben17 · 24/09/2015 13:38

clearly i'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy the black suede otherwise they may stop doing them altogether...

Openup41 · 24/09/2015 17:47

I would wear them but not at the cost of £300. £100 tops.

SarfEast1cated · 25/09/2015 10:12

Well, i have been into Hobbs and seen them and they are gorgeous. Lovely leather and really feel about them. However I did wonder just how much wear I would get out of them. While I was in Hobbs, I did see these beauties, and think they would be a much better bet.

Sorry OP they look like rubber riding boots. I have a gap in my wardrobe for some good quality black long boots too but the choice this year is not inspiring. If I don't spend all my clothes money on stuff for m new kitchen I shall teat myself to some Russell and Bromley Chelsea boots.

ExConstance · 25/09/2015 12:06

Yes! all your new choices are much nicer.

lotrben17 · 25/09/2015 13:41

i recently got the logan ones in brown - only thing i have noticed is that my 4 year old has managed to bash up the soles banging around the house in them already - you might need to take them to timpsons to put a harder wearing sole on them.

amarmai · 25/09/2015 18:34

love the harris brogues. I'd get them and boots !

SarfEast1cated · 06/10/2015 21:16

I'm now wondering about these shoes:
I'm after some nice flat shoes for work, not loafers but neat flats...
what do you think?

i am looking for boots too. with half your budget and fat calves so half length for me ;)

SarfEast1cated · 06/10/2015 21:29

Well my budget is a bit less now!

SarfEast1cated · 06/10/2015 23:52

It's so hard! Has anyone seen the M&S chelsea boots or brogues IRL?
