Boden icons, I am not getting it

Just looked at the Boden Icons collection, icons

I am really not getting it. It seems to have copied bits of M&S Spring/summer autograph collection, with a few sub-Zara military bits for four times the price. A couple of the coats look ok, but very expensive.

I was really interested to see what they would come up with, but this is a huge disappointment.

Hmm maybe theyre aiming this at the US market ..what with all the iconic british names and crap.

Literally not one thing I would wear. Why the fuckity fuck is it so expensive??

Not surprising as I don't wear ordinary Boden either.

its bloody awful. Not a single piece is decent. bleurrgh boden totally hideous and I'm usually a fan. what are those faux military jacket things?! the cropped wide leg jeans?!

Oh good, not just me. When I read they were calling a new collection Icons, I was hoping it would be well cut pieces in beautiful fabrics and classic colours (losing the wacky patterns), but no.

I was just looking at that! I love the costs, but they are SO expensive!

The denim button through skirt is nice but I have the same thing from m and s and it was £40.

Sorry coats. Love the coats. Don't love the costs one bit!!!

I love the cropped wide legs, already have a pair in my wardrobe from Autograph from the summer -- but these look a better weight for winter. I like the printed velvet coat, though it's not my style, and the tie neck blouse.

I think it's Boden trying to be directional. Possibly too directional for their market.

Laughing to myself at the idea of 'Boden mum' wearing a jumper with Rebel written on it!

The staging of the photos really doesn't help - why chop the models head off of just give us the chin? She also looks like she's standing really awkwardly.

Yes, I think they are trying to be directional, but are about half a season behind. I don't know why I am surprised really, I only ever order things for the DC, but those seem so well made that I always wish I liked the Womens stuff.

Oh no! I quite liked some of it, though not the prices . Am busy trying to track down a cheaper version of the A line denim skirt on another thread.....

I thought it was bloody awful tbh. And so expensive. I just can't see it appealing to the usual Boden clients, and if you're up for spending that kind of cash, I don't imagine Boden is going to be your first port of call.

A parka for £400! Who would pay that?

I literally thought the red coat was a dressing gown.

I don't mind the three quarter length trousers although I wouldn't wear them myself.

I don't think the slouchy model poses do the clothes any favours.

The military pieces have an air of the collection Stella McCartney did for Baby Gap about 10 years ago.

Dear me that's bad. I like velvet coat and a couple of the dresses but the prices are absurd.

I'm disappointed.
I generally don't mind the plain stuff from Boden. But this is all way over priced and not that wearable. I quite like the rebel jumper but that's it!
I think this is not suited to their audience.
