Are these shoes horrid?

I am really tempted. But I also need boots for the winter. And fancy a new coat. And generally speaking new shoes are a luxury item for me.

I'm a SAHM and spend most of the autumn/ winter in skinny jeans and flat boots. I am not a heels wearer.

So... Are these mad, start right style children's shoes, or actually rather nice and would work with jeans and skirts?

I would worry they would make you look like a giant toddler.

I like them, I have the equivalent DM shoes.

They are very 'in' atm with the youth. I like them.

I also wear them with really bright stripy stocks. Does that make them double bad

I quite like them in the picture with the skinny jeans.

I don't think I would like them with a skirt though.

I like them; here are my caveats:

You wear skinny jeans; if this is because you are skinny I think they'd suit you much better than if you are quite big and wear skinny jeans. I am size 14 with chunky legs and think these shoes would only look 'trendy' rather than 'dowdy' if you had skinny pins.

I would probably feel weird pairing them with any skirt/trouser that was vaguely smart. Only if most of your clothes are truly casual should you get them.

Flat shoes like suede brogues would probably bridge gap between casual and smart better.

I like those - I have dark red Mary Jane DMs with a similar vibe. The trouble I have with mine is what to wear them with, hosiery-wise. They work best with bare feet, which is no good for winter. You might be able to combine tights or stripey socks more easily with black than red though.

School shoes (sorry OP, just my opinion)

I have them in the dark blue, and I love them!
I can't seem to make them work with skinnies though so I wear them with thick tights and dresses/skirts. It has to be quite a fitted skirt, or a tube skirt. And above the knee.

Ha ha! Knew they'd divide opinions here, but doesn't help me make my mind up! :)

I am short but slim and very casual and 34 so not old yet, but not part of 'the youth' any more.

Depends on your style, they could look good or as someone said, like a giant toddler!

I like them, but agree with Eugene, which I why I have 3 pairs of brogues instead.

But I like them on someone younger. Bright young things like my dds can wear anything in that lovely effortless way that youth has but I'm afraid is long gone for me.

Terrible. There are fashionable styles like this out there but the ones you have chosen are not them. Red or dead are well dead.

I have them and love them, in fact I have 2 pairs in different colours, and theyre my inbetween-weather- summer shoes I wouldnt buy them now. Theyve been around for a few years so get them in the spring. Its not like theyre on sale, and I pretty much guarantee theyll still be available next year as theyre popular and comfortable, but theyre not waterproof or anything, so not autumn or winter shoes at all

Not something I would choose to wear TBH. But if they suit you, why not?

I think they're very nice indeed, and having walked the length and breadth of Kyoto today, my feet are gagging for something comfortable as well as stylish.

The fact that I am 60 probably renders my opinion null and void.

Oh, they're really bad. Worse than I was expecting. They have nothing going for them.
