Anything but the C-word!

OP posts:
Stropperella · 01/10/2015 13:16

Sorrr, MI, just seen your post about your mum. I do hope that things are OK. Sorry that you will have to fit in a visit when you are already feeling overloaded :(

motherinferior · 01/10/2015 13:35

Oh StroppsSadAngrySad

I'll be fine on Sat- DP only too happy to run me to the station and frankly it's much better this Sat rather than the ones when I've been speed-reading in the BL!

herbaceous · 01/10/2015 14:04

Oh Stropps. Sad I wish I had any remotely useful suggestions. You can be but a still point in her ever spinning world...

herbaceous · 01/10/2015 14:45

Right. Volunteering in the EAL department of local secondary school, the one that was on Educating the East End, sorted. As much as I want.

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 14:47

Oh no StroppsSad I feel your pain, as you know.
Poor thing though if she can't drive whilst on those meds - pretty disappointing for her.

Just spoke to DM who seemed very jolly although she can't find her other handbags and doesn't want to throw out clothes (that she has had for at least 20 years and no longer fit, and she knows she has way too many clothes) because they are good qualityGrin

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 14:48

Oooh Herbs, you are brave!

herbaceous · 01/10/2015 14:51

I know how your mum feels, BTM! I'd still have everything from 20 years (and two stone) ago if it weren't for the ruthlessness of DP.

As for bravery, maybe! I've invigilated at the school, and it's pretty OK. And I know the deputy head, who got me the voluntary gig. And I can leave any time I want! At least if I hate it, I can cross 'large urban secondary schools' off my list...

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 14:56

I think it's a brilliant idea - great experience, and good to do voluntary as (as you say) no compunction to stay if it turns out to be dreadful. But I'm sure it won't!

herbaceous · 01/10/2015 15:05

What's more, the current head of EAL isn't an EAL expert, and is only doing maternity cover. So, should an opportunity arise...

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 15:21

Ooh, good thinking HerbsWink

Stropperella · 01/10/2015 15:45

That all sounds excellent, Herbs. And not dissimilar to my plans. Grin Grin

hattymattie · 01/10/2015 15:48

Rose, Stropps and MI Sad. Rose you cannot possibly be expected to feed your father, that is the home's responsibility - especially for that price.

Stropps - you are so courageous with your DD. It must be so draining.

Blackduck · 01/10/2015 16:06

Oh Stropps :( and MI :(

Cremo · 01/10/2015 16:45

Oh Stropps. Bugger. Tomorrow is another day. Just regard it as a blip and draw a line. She must be well disappointed. Sorry for you and the extra carting responsibility.
Thanks

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 17:01

OMFG And it's sold out in 5 sizes!Hmm

Stropperella · 01/10/2015 17:16

Awww, come on. I want to know who would look good in that. It's dreadful. Even the model looks daft.

Stropperella · 01/10/2015 17:23

Turns out dd didn't go home. She did go into afternoon registration and got accosted by her tutor and called out for skiving off morning school and all the other registrations she never turns up to. Tutor emailed me and told me the massive fibs that dd had told her to justify her absence this morning. Tutor has agreed to a meeting and is waiting for HoY to agree to a time. No one is ever going to be able to say that I didn't try my best to sort this, but my hopes for a positive outcome overall are beginning to fade, tbh.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/10/2015 17:24

I am about to return a dress to Boden. My reasons? I have already seen three people in it where I work.

Rose, Stropps and MI. Sad Rose, just let the home feed your DDad. I am sure the food there is fine - it should be at that price.

I am going to visit Mommy Dearest tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Stropperella · 01/10/2015 17:34

Best of luck, MrsS. Does she know about your new job yet?

bigTillyMint · 01/10/2015 17:54

Stropps, again, sympathies andAngry

MrsS, I am just perusing the bloody Boden website because they sent me a voucher for £10. I have found a skirt I likeHmm

motherinferior · 01/10/2015 18:04

Oh Christonabike, Stropps...

Cremo · 01/10/2015 18:55

Stropps -above and beyond call of duty. Sorry to hear dd has been giving everyone^ the run around.
She should be mortified for having forced you to go and sort it out for her.

Gawd Stropps I just hope the tutor has some plan of how to approach all this. I'm so sorry about the whole situation. Thanks

Cremo · 01/10/2015 18:59

Rose, it just occurred to me; is the kosher aspect of food provision that your dmum is up to High Doh about? Even so, not for you to have to conjure up .Sad

hattymattie · 01/10/2015 19:02

Which dress Mrs S?

Why haven't I got a £10 voucher - I just bought a cashmere cardi as well humph.

Lalsy · 01/10/2015 20:22

Stropps, woooah, doesn't this all change fast - do you ever feel your head is on back to front? Well done on getting the meeting and I hope it goes well. I suppose it is good she went into school in the end, and I sort of understand why she lied if she had got herself into a state by then and then realised.....

Rose, this sounds awful. Isn't feeding your df a chance for the staff to get to know him a bit, see how he is doing, get a full picture?

And MI, fingers crossed for Saturday.

I feel shattered and bonkers.
