What's your opinion of this dress - especially petite women.

I'm just 5ft tall, size 10. Will be wearing 3inch high heels.
Can this dress work? Technically it is A-line shape so I think it could work.

The dress is couture - about £1500 preloved and it'll have to be shipped in from the states. It's not available in the UK. It's a risk but looks amazing. What you think??

My cousin wore one a bit like the second one you posted. In pale pink. It was stunning!!

CookieDoughKid · 08/09/2015 22:22

Lweji They are both stunning. I am veering more towards the moonlight tango dress though - it's lovely and such a 'strong' but elegant shape too. What are your thoughts on this one here ? DO scroll down and view the back of the dress

I love the last one you posted. The back is amazing!

Truthfully I have had enough of strapless dresses. The world and his wife have worn them and I much prefer a sleeve now.

Lweji · 08/09/2015 22:44

I think that works too.
It has too much detail on the back for my personal taste, but I'd try different ones to get a feel.

Dowser · 08/09/2015 22:57

The moonlit tango one is very nice.

Dowser · 08/09/2015 22:58

Think I like the mori lee one was best. The back is awesome.

Dowser · 08/09/2015 22:59

Far nicer than the first ones you posted.

Follyfoot · 08/09/2015 23:04

The last one is lovely, I dont like any of the others.

Cheesybaps · 08/09/2015 23:09

The last one is by far the best imo Smile

SmugairleRoin · 08/09/2015 23:10

Mori Lee one is lovely, I really like it. The first two I think would drown a petite woman!

Jermajesty · 08/09/2015 23:18

The Mori Lee dress is stunning and elegant.

Baconyum · 08/09/2015 23:39

Love the moonlight tango (would be perfect for le manoir too) like the Mori Lee too. Mori Lee dresses ARE very well made I have to say.

HeyDuggee · 08/09/2015 23:40

Love the last one too.

Have you looked at any dresses from Pronovias? They've got all types of styles from lacy to simple architectural ones. I quite like this with detachable back

BrockAuLit · 09/09/2015 00:01

Congrats on your engagement!

I'm afraid I have quite strong views about short women and long/floor length dresses: I'm afraid they just don't work. At best you end up looking like you're wearing a lampshade, at worst you look like you're wearing your mum's clothes Blush

I really would go try on a whole range of different dresses, different shapes and lengths and styles. You may well be surprised. At 5' and size 10, your choices are fairly limited. You need to own your size, not ignore it or pretend it's not happening. Cool and beautiful things can happen elsewhere with what you're wearing, doesn't have to be the whole "gown" thing to make you feel a million dollars (or ??1500!). Jewelry, hair, colour, your smile, dress shape and material...so much to choose from.

Sorry! (By the way, I'm barely taller than you myself!).

Burnet · 09/09/2015 08:56

I like the Alfred Angelo one!

Pantsalive · 09/09/2015 10:33

I'm not sure about the detachable train but how about something like this

I promised I would update you all with my chosen wedding dress for you all to see. And here it is. Be sure to scroll through the pictures. I will remove the ribbon at the back though as I think it detracts too much the back.

I have put the deposit down and so there is no going back!!

Hope you like it but even if you don't that's ok. Wedding dresses are such a personal thing:)

This dress makes me look taller and you see me in this dress more. I veered widely from heavy embellished/lace dresses to more simpler ones. I wanted to look back at my photos and think ''classic & timeless' and I think this is it!!

Yep, I think you've made a very good choice. When you're petite (I'm only a smidge taller than you!) I think clean lines and unfussiness are better. It's also incredibly elegant and beautiful.

Baconyum · 13/09/2015 01:23

Gorgeous I'm sure you'll look lovely. Another good brand quality wise too.

However, re ribbon do you mean the tie at the neck? Just be careful as if you remove that it will sit differently.

Now...shoes? Smile

Lweji · 13/09/2015 08:45

I like it. It's really elegant.
But more importantly, you're happy about it. :)
Best wishes for the wedding (and the marriage!).

Dowser · 13/09/2015 10:13

Nice and elegant. I'm addicted to re runs of don't tell the bride. I don't know why. A lot of the seem so fake.

Just like seeing the bride in her dress I suppose.

eurochick · 13/09/2015 10:23

Sooooo much nicer than the loo roll dolly look. Very elegant. Good choice!

specialsubject · 13/09/2015 10:37

gosh, the one you chose is so much better! Very elegant and adult.

No bra possible of course but presume you've thought of that. And make sure that you can walk, not waddle, in the huge heels.

the one photographed in the alley was a classic toilet roll doll job, completely horrible. What was anyone thinking?

hope you have a great day - but it is only a day, so more importantly wishing you every happiness.

Oly5 · 13/09/2015 18:48

I like it but I'd never buy a dress without trying it on
