Ta Da!

OP posts:
Auriga · 20/08/2015 11:48

The Aurigette had difficulty getting her results (dodgy Lakes wifi and 3G) but after a lot of loitering in the lane outside the pub she succeeded & they were worth the trouble Grin GrinGrin

Glad to hear the news is good for others as well.

I've been in such intermittent contact I've no idea what's going on with Hackergate. Hope everyone here is okay.

bigTillyMint · 20/08/2015 11:53

Ah I now see the 100% was on one paper. But she got 95% and 90% on the other two!

Rudy, that must be so hard - it is hard enough managing expectations with dc in different school years, with very different strengths.

Well done the Aurigette! Fantastic news.

MollyAir · 20/08/2015 12:27

Congrats to Aurigette! BTM, still amazing!!

Rudy, so hard to manage. Many's the hour I've spent agonising over discrepancies between dc who are not even twins; not helped by a primary school which constantly told me that the female one was "not in the same league" as the male one. Angry Well, she's proved them wrong. Sexism, if you ask me. But she's always gone on about being overshadowed and out-done.

herbaceous · 20/08/2015 12:27

Croc news. They were both outside, and now there is only one. I fear a fox might have made off with the other one. Or DP threw it away. Blast.

Well done further crepey offspring. Must be a weight off minds...

hattymattie · 20/08/2015 12:58

Congrat's to Aurigette- and agree it must be so hard having twins - especially if they have different results Rudy. Am dragging DS off for his pre-rentree haircut this afternoon.

Herbs - I ought to confess that my Crocs are not the real deal - they are from Primark but have lasted at least 5 years so far.

Cremo · 20/08/2015 13:15

Oh Auriga, well done DD. that must be a relief..

Rudy , crap situation. , sorry results mixed. Courage to you.

MollyAir · 20/08/2015 13:34

Forward planning for Herbs:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/Christmas/2452830-Star-Wars-Hamper-Ideas-Needed

Sorry about your Croc. Foxes love footwear. Sad

GiddyGiddyGoat · 20/08/2015 17:01

Ds2 very pleased with his results (and relieved too) Grin

Well done Laisy and Auriga and Rudy's offspring - sorry you are having to manage different outcomes for your twins Rudy... that must be very hard.

My brain has turned to mush after all this hacking crap - I've got 500 new passwords that I can't remember - and am completely paranoid about what I've done to try and sort it all out... suffice to say I'm now locked out of the email on my phone and can't answer any of the security questions they are asking me... GAAAAH!

bigTillyMint · 20/08/2015 17:06

Well done to Auriga's DD and princely kid!

Rudy, that must be very hard for you all Wine

Herbs, we have Crocs that haven't been used since our last camping trip 4 years ago, but all too big for the Herbster. Got them cheap from Sports Direct IIRC!

Lalsy · 20/08/2015 17:10

Hurrah for The Kid Grin.

Giddy, I think after all this, it may be time to use LastPass or similar? You just have to remember one password, and it generates and manages all the others for you. I don't see how the DIY method is sustainable as sites all develop stronger pw requirements, and we all want to log in from mobile devices. I use a phrase which I adapt so it is different for every site but it probably is guessable once you know one or two and also some sites now say two characters plus three upper case or whathaveyou. Very up-fedding. I feel absolutely exhausted despite not having done much.

magimedi · 20/08/2015 17:20

Well done to all the great exam results.

DH has a pair of red crocs that he uses as slippers. As he is size 14 they don't exactly look elegant.

House or beach - fine. Anywhere else is grounds for divorce.

Trip to see PFGD has eventually been sorted - but unable to do some of the stuff we wanted to on the return as everyones' buggering about re dates means hotels & B&B's all booked up where we wanted to go. Tant pis! At least I'll have lovely baby snuggles.

hattymattie · 20/08/2015 17:28

Yay for the young PrinceSmile . These constant exams are exhausting. DD2 is now preparing her PS for next year as the school want them in early even though it's not Oxbridge. At least like that I expect we can just send them and forget about them for a bit.

I have been extremely lazy and have enough spag bol left from last night to serve up the same tonight!

magimedi · 20/08/2015 17:32

That is not laziness - it's very good housekeeping. Think of the energy saving - in all senses!

herbaceous · 20/08/2015 17:35

The cross are mine, BTM, not the boy's! His are safe and sound inside.

DP got back today, and is back to his old 'ignoring' tricks. I am getting irate.

Rosebag · 20/08/2015 17:39

Congratulations to DC of auriga, giddy and Rudy. Comparisons are so awful and as molly says it happens to a certain extent with non twin DC. It's particularly bad with Ds2 and DD...DD is resilient though, but as her mother, it hurts. Flowers to you rudy and strength to celebrate the successes in absolute terms. School days aren't the best days of everyone's life, and there are other types of intelligence. Oh but a I hate our education system!

DS has just shown me his emails to his music teachers explaining why he has to drop music for next year. They are really poignant and moving, and I'm so fed up of the jolly hockey sticks attitude one feels compelled to adopt. I could howl. It's so bloody unfair. He's such a terrific musician.

And it's fxxking raining... But we are having movie night in, with a big bowl of Doritos.

Cremo · 20/08/2015 17:54

Oh Rose, my heart breaks for your ds. It's shattering not doing what you love. my honest view is that music is something now he can do for love instead of being measured on it, which is what any creative activity should be about. He can go on with his grades and diploma and do whatever he wants outside the conformist box of the education system. If it's any consolation at all I didn't get to do music A level either for similar reasons, but I taught a bit, sang in various bands and ended up with a rewarding career in community music and then working at a record company. ( this is another of my 9 lives you understand Crepeys)
Dd is also still writing despite getting an unexpected low grade in her GCSE English and having to give it up ( completely devastated ) at AS.
I hope that gives you hope.ThanksSmile

Lol Magi re giant Crocs. Yes to divorce. Dh is useless at casual clothes and in particular holiday/ beach clothes. On our honeymoon on the Whitsundays he had to walk about in a pair of shiny black work shoes as he had nothing else and wouldn't entertain Aussie slides. No shorts either, and long sleeves. Things has improved a bit , but not much.Grin

Yes, well done the GCSE-ers , all. All those subjects , nightmare.

Rosebag · 20/08/2015 18:05

Thank you crem. You make a lot of sense. I am so overwrought at the moment, and hiding it all from the troops. DS will continue with all his extracurricular music, accompanying and stuff. He is also going to carry on with his piano lessons and says he wants to apply for the extracurricular scholarship for music tuition at his front runner university, where they do video auditions. We'll see. I'm impressed with your music career!!

motherinferior · 20/08/2015 18:23

Wotcher you lotGrin. I am running out of obscure quotes for my passwords...

Two pre-GCSE exams here - not quite sure how much they will contribute to the eventual grade but the girl's got a B in art which I suppose is OK and a rather lovely A* in Latin, about which I am majorly chuffed. Grin

motherinferior · 20/08/2015 18:25

Mr Inferior is managing not to look too idiotic here for once; he is able to parlay white Boden long cargo shorts and a linen Boden shirt into quite a good (and very unBodeny) look. It helps he looks rather Spanish.

hattymattie · 20/08/2015 18:31

Rose - agree wholeheartedly with Crem - DD1 - has never done any formal piano exams as the French system is a disgrace and designed to put you off. At uni, they said she was above grade 8 and gave her a music grant to help with her piano lessons. She simply plays for pleasure and proved herself by playing for her grant. I think it takes the pressure off and makes music what it ought to be.

Magi - my Crocs are red tooSmile. My DH is improving dress wise as DD2 yells at him - much more effective than anything I do. He wanted to go cycling in his cycle shorts, ordinary T shirt with hole and floppy hat to keep off the sun. Hat was particularly idiotic and DD2 refused to move until he changed.Grin

Cremo · 20/08/2015 18:31

MI! euge DDii. Ex Optima!

hattymattie · 20/08/2015 18:32

Well done to the inferiorettes - especially the A* in Latin which I was majorly crap at.

motherinferior · 20/08/2015 18:45

It's just DD1, the 14 year oldGrin.
