What do I wear my tutu with?

Me again, ive had a few threads explaining my non existent fashion knowledge and have now purchased my tutu. It's this one but in a silvery grey colour.
What can I wear it with? I was planning on a black high roundneck short sleeve fitted tshirt but is that totally boring for such a lovely skirt?

What do I wear my tutu with?

Goodness Mermaid if only I had the confidence! That's a very daring look, I thought I was seriously branching out with the tutu Grin
I'll have a look at the links.

anything other than a totally plain t shirt type top would look right daft

does it puff up like that pic?

Grin i have a lovely yellow french connection skirt a bit like that but much less puffy

CakeNinja · 23/07/2015 22:01

Yes South, I think it needs to be totally plain.
It puffs up just like that and is about an inch above the knee.
I really like the puffiness!

I want a tutu.
Where was that from?

CakeNinja · 23/07/2015 22:09

Online, tutushopuk I think it was.
There are loads and loads of places but a lot of the nicer ones (well I thought so anyway) are handmade and take ages for delivery. This place have managed to make it and send it quickly.

A halter top ... Love this!

IJustLostTheGame · 24/07/2015 07:32

An ex army shirt and combats boots.

Or what mermaid said.

Damnation. I want a tutu skirt now.

Itsalldramarama · 24/07/2015 09:52

Ooo 25 years ago I wore mine with a basque , holey fish nets and 14 hole doc matins ;) today it would be a pain silk tee and cashmere cardigan :)

Itsalldramarama · 24/07/2015 09:52

*plain

Flingingmelon · 24/07/2015 10:09

Id go with fine knit crew sweater and some major neck bling. I keep meaning to buy a navy one and never getting round to it :s

CakeNinja · 24/07/2015 12:56

Well i was hoping for a demure and sophisticated overall appearance as its for a day at the races!

I think I'll have a hunt for a very simple black top. I have black heels and once I've got it all on together I'll think about jewellery.
I don't wear jewellery though, do you think it's necessary?

Get I'm a bit broad for a halterneck unfortunately.

Fairy wings? plus stripey tights and wellies...

sleepwhenidie · 24/07/2015 13:06

Look on Pinterest for lots of styling ideas, I remember one nice one with a chambray shirt knotted at the waist. A tight or shell style crop top could also look good?

KanyesVest · 24/07/2015 13:18

Fine knit fitted jumper or a really soft denim shirt and big pearls/chunky necklace.

Love the skirt, happy wearing!

Twinklestein · 24/07/2015 13:58

I'd wear with a grey skinny t-shirt and 60s style stilettos.

Grin at the thought of my midriff being on display in a crop top!
Not very fair on poor innocent members of the public really.

It hasn't actually arrived yet so I'm not sure of the exact shade.

Flogging fairy wings is for the garden party the following week Wink

that looks like a tied tutu, is that what it is? A tied tutu has strips pf net tied around an elastic waistband, that means that there are gaps in the fabric as it doesn't go all the way round, it is in sections hanging down. So if you go to the races and it is at all windy it could part and you will flash your knickers at everyone. They are not really suitable for outside!

Zola1980 · 24/07/2015 17:03

A black scoop, Bardot or off the shoulder top would look lovely. With a statement bracelet/bangles I think!

CakeNinja · 24/07/2015 17:53

I dont think so, I think she said it was 5 layers of tulle? Anyway, I have nice knickers!
