What do I wear my tutu with?

Me again, ive had a few threads explaining my non existent fashion knowledge and have now purchased my tutu. It's this one but in a silvery grey colour.
What can I wear it with? I was planning on a black high roundneck short sleeve fitted tshirt but is that totally boring for such a lovely skirt?

It really does look as though it is tied not sewn. So beware any gusts. Although as you sound happy with knicker flashing, then there's no problem. Smile.

CakeNinja · 24/07/2015 19:59

Yeah I've just looked again and think you're right!
I looked at so many, must have got. Bit muddled!
Is this an occasion that demands a slip? What IS a slip?!

A slip is what you may call a petticoat? A half slip is what you need, a little silky underskirt in a similar or contrasting colour. Make sure it is slightly shorter than the net, and fairly narrow.

CakeNinja · 24/07/2015 21:45

Oh god, not more shopping :(
why didn't I just go for jeans?
Where would one buy a slip from? My underwear consists of bras and knickers- not even any disgusting tights!

Wear it with an ironic smirk.

VenusRising · 25/07/2015 03:19

Wear it with your pearls and a smile!

A fox fur stole might be a good idea in case the pearls don't keep you warm.

Nice thermal long johns, cut off at the knee will stave off hypothermia. Steal your DHs?
Save the cut off parts for sewing on as sleeves on a short tee for winter.

Or use the cut off parts to sew little pockets on the long johns for those lovely little snap hand warmers- you could snap them in sequence up and down your legs and be as toasty as anything.

Enjoy the racing!

uk.intimissimi.com/product/silk-and-lace-skirt/160197.uts this is the thing you need. M&S will have one, or any underwear shop.

CakeNinja · 26/07/2015 07:33

Thanks Sir, I think I'll wait to try it on and see how it looks and feels. May go and stand out in the garden wearing it!

Long sleeved plain top in a neutral colour.

CakeNinja · 26/07/2015 15:24

Might be accessorising with a winter coat if that nonsense outside keeps up!

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 13:12

It's arrived!
It's a lot er, bigger than the photo Confused Grin
Any idea how you flatten down a tutu?!

OP posts:
CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 13:29

And I'm now worried about being a bit eccentric Sad

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2015 13:36

Can you post a picture of yourself with it on? If you are unsure, can you return it?
Nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable in something that you arent happy with.
Nothing wrong with eccentric Grin

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 13:51

I cant return it, it was handmade Shock

Style it like this and it'll be fine. It's a really nice length. I dont think its too puffy - it's a statement piece so it should be a statement.

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2015 14:01

I think you look nice in it. It doesnt look too puffy :)

MsBojangles · 28/07/2015 14:01

It's really lovely, much nicer than I was expecting to be honest.

As long as you keep the top as simple as possible you'll look smashing!

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 14:06

Thanks for your reassuring words, I was having a bit of a wobble about looking like a twat.
Im usually a blending in with the crowd sort of dresser, I don't know what on earth possessed me to buy this Confused

MsBojangles · 28/07/2015 14:17

A little fitted biker jacket would look amazing with it if the weather is shiteous.

Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2015 14:17

Dont doubt yourself. If its a dressy occasion you will look great. Just get the right top and shoes and you will look great :)

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 15:01

But what if I get there and everyone's in jeans? Sad
Oh well, I'll just get drunk.

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2015 15:44

well i cant comment about how others dress as i have never been to the races. If you arent happy though wear something else and sell it on ebay. i often buy things and then in the end change my mind about what to wear. Sometimes i am glad i did and other times im sad i didnt. what are others wearing? can you find out?

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 16:30

Last time i went to the races I wore a lovely LK Bennett dress.
I know a couple of the girls going and they're going in similar smart dresses.
However, there is someone going who is renowned for her quirky dress sense (cut off wedding dress and dms at someone else's wedding Shock and nothing like a wedding dress at her own!) but I don't know her well enough to call her and ask what she's wearing.
Ahhh fuck it, that's what ive got, that's what I'm wearing. I'm sure I'll have gotten over myself after a couple of drinks!

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 28/07/2015 16:43

You could even have a few drinks before you go Wink

CakeNinja · 28/07/2015 16:56

We are leaving at 10:30 in the morning! drinks are being consumed on the coach
I am now also a little concerned that the dress code on the website says 'no fancy dress' - what if they turn me away as some dodgy hen party reveller?! Grin
I'm going to attempt smoothing it down (somehow, it's bloody enormous!) and maybe hanging it up in the shower for half an hour to encourage the creases to drop a little, that way it won't be AS puffy.
And I'm going to wear a black top and black shoes.
Any links to suggestions for shoes? Was going to wear some lovely heels but probably impractical due to grass.
