Brill, thanks. It's on my to look up list.

Good job I have something to do on an evening while dp snores on the sofa...Grin Hmm

lucysmam · 22/07/2015 23:04

Has everyone seen the diy beauty subreddit? I've not had a look yet but thought some of you might be interested Smile

NewsreaderChic · 22/07/2015 23:07

Mowglik I'd love to try the Hado Labo whitening do dah, but can't think of anything to swap, am posting from bed so will have a look in the morning and see what I've got.

GrinAndTonic · 22/07/2015 23:38

Lucy I can't see why not. You could just use the cucumber.

I received an email from TesterKorea this morning to say that they have now shipped the items I purchased. That's all well and good except I placed the order on the 2nd. I was expecting them any day. So much for getting my new goodies this week.

Pls can someone help me with what to users get rid of white and black heads? The products were mentioned in the thread a few days ago but I can't find it . Tia

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 09:22

Propolis is hereShock a week after ordering! Now I want my Jolse and BNK orders that I placed at the same time (and earlier - I think I have two Jolse orders on the way).

I wonder why some things take 6 weeks & others days Confused

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 09:28

jackie, COSRX Blackhead power liquid for the blackheads and sebaceous filaments. It's somewhere around £10.50 on ebay. Very highly spoken of on reddit.

If you don't want to spend quite so much, the Benton Aloe BHA is a little cheaper iirc and also highly praised but I don't think the bha concentration is the same.

A non ab option would be clearasil (I've been buying from Bargain Buys for less than £2), or I think nip+fab do salicylic pads as well at around £8 ish.

COSRX Whitehead power liquid for closed comedones - the bumps that just sit being bumpy. I paid £9.64 ish from Jolse for that one.

Don't introduce both at the same time! If one breaks you out, you won't know which one it was. & introduce them sloooowwwwwlllllyyyy (every third night for a couple of weeks, then every second & move up to nightly if you think it's necessary.

& don't forget wait times to allow the acids to do their thing. Smile

jackiekatu · 23/07/2015 09:43

Thanks again Lucymam I am using nip fab but they aren't doing anything to the lumps / bumps and white and black heads on my nose sadly so I am going to try your suggestions

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 09:48

I'm finding that with the Clearasil now. I have 2 small samples of the Benton bha so will try those after the wedding and then order the COSRX one myself I think along with the a-sol.

Maybe, realistically, there's only so far you can go anyway. I'm happier with my skin than I have been in ages and that's only after 3 ish months.

I came back to ask...I got samples of Missha's FTE with my propolis - does that go before the HL but after acids? I think so but want to double check so I can make a note on it in sharpie.

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 10:02

ooh, also...did anyone put their name on the shark sauce co-op list? I'm curious but not sure atm about investing in that much diy in one go.

Maybe I'll work out how much it's going to be and save a quid or two a week towards it.

Grin, yes I think just cucumber for dd1 is my best bet for not irritating her face. She's just offered one to 5yo dd2 as well Hmm

mowglik · 23/07/2015 10:15

Let me know what you hve newsreader!

Think I am finally adjusting to the retinol as I no longer have sting-y sensitive skin but I do miss doing my full evening routine on retinol days.. I'm addicted to it!

mowglik · 23/07/2015 10:17

lucysmam where is the shark sauce list? I love the idea of DIY but am too lazy to do it myself atm

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 10:27

Scroll down a little way (Holysnails blog page) & there's a clicky link that takes you to the form through google.

It's just a disclaimer - you understand it's a diy project, won't hold her responsible for irritation if it occurs, will pay your own costs. & then submit an email Smile

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 10:34

Actually, there is a simplified version - Holy Snail Water on there too. I need to handwrite the ingredient lists to compare but that might be more budget friendly so I might try that one.

hmmm, sea kelp bioferment has me a tad confused...is it an ingredient or a product in it's own right?

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 12:39

ok, it's an ingredient...I was getting what looked like jars of an already made product.

I'll carry on looking up now.

AmazingDisgrace · 23/07/2015 12:46

The Benton Snail Bee arrived today thanks Cornwall's Finest I now won't run out on holiday Smile

WizzardHat · 23/07/2015 18:45

I just made a massive ebay order, some refills and a couple of experiments. I got the Mizon snails ampoule which is new, and the brown snails cream which is a refill. And I got the Skinfood royal honey propolis essence which is more of an ampoule I think. That one was more a case of being seduced by the packaging...I also got a refill of the Skinfood honey and black tea cleansing cream: surprisingly lovely. Not sure if it's a HG product but this will be my second big tub of it and it smells nice and emulsifies well.

Does anyone have a good second step cleanser to recommend? I have the Mizon real rice one and it does clean things off well but is apparently pH 9! I've been using the glycolic one from nip+fab instead. I could just go and repurchase that when it runs out but there's probably better out there.

I'm getting a konjac sponge as well, to see if it does a better job that just splashing cleanser on with my hands.

FrugalFashionista · 23/07/2015 18:47

Going to bed early, snail bee time.

When your DIYs arrive, please let me know what shark sauce feels like! I really like fermented stuff, but want to take it slow as I now have plenty of products to play with.

WizzardHat · 23/07/2015 18:47

I meant to ask as well - has anyone tried the starfish cream, and if so, is it really all that?

FrugalFashionista · 23/07/2015 18:50

Wizzard your order sounds lush!!! I still mostly use non-AB 2nd cleansers as I am still using up my Western stuff.

OP posts:
FrugalFashionista · 23/07/2015 18:53

I've used the Mizon starfish stuff. It is more smoothing than moisturizing, my skin likes it (the texture is jello like, not greasy) but if you are trying to replace a rich Western cream, you'll probably be disappointed.

lucysmam · 23/07/2015 19:31

I've been using a konjac sponge Wizzard, it feels jelly ish Grin but leaves my face surprisingly smooth!

I've given up my hunt for the sea kelp boiferment for the mo - it was making my head hurt Confused
