Children's clothing opinions

Hi, I hope I'm not breaching any rules by doing this, if so super sorry and feel free to delete mods!

I am starting out a modern range of children's clothing, tshirts and leggings mainly.

I have had these designs mocked up (waiting on a couple of others)

I've still got time to make tweaks etc and I'd be grateful for any feedback. (Please be kind, this is nerve wracking!)

I understand it won't be to everyone's tastes.....bloody hell I've got a sweat on posting this!

i like the leggings. I do not like the t-shirts. 2 reasons. (1) I generally don't like slogan t-shirts, and (2) I don't really get the slogans, eg I have not heard the expression pinch of awesome.

Not sure about the rules. If you posted a link somewhere people could buy them it would be a problem. if you are just looking for feedback on whether there might be a market, might be ok.

Thank you, I think slogan tshirts don't generally go down very well on mumsnet, I do think there is a market for them in general though and I love typography too!
I was trying to stay away from the 'here comes trouble' and 'little monster' and stay with positive slogans.

This is my first go and I'm sure there's lots of space and time to evolve.

What age are they for?

I really like them.

9-12m going up to 5/6yrs, they will be marketed as gender neutral too, am looking forward to having a brilliant photoshoot with some great boys and girls.

I would buy them if they were just patterned and plain in a heartbeat and I would buy them for gifts for everyone's birthdays and Christmas but I don't like slogans at all so it's a no. If someone bought them for me I would give the top to charity but I LOVE the bottoms.

I like the designs/colour but don't like the slogans. Nothing against slogans in general but I too don't really get these ones.

I'm glad the bottoms are getting good feedback. I'm wondering whether to do a plain tee too. But I imagine people to buy plain tshirts from any high street shop? Are little pockets a big no-no too? (Clutching at straws )

My other designs are Fri-yay (drawing of fries) - yay.

I agree about the slogans. I like the patterns on the leggings though, it's nice to see something other than pink hearts/cupcakes and blue trucks!

I don't like black on very small children

I'm not a fan of black on little children. I think navy is more flattering for them.

I really want this to work, dh got made redundant and we are currently on benefits, we are both in the midst of setting up our own businesses. Mines the (much more risky) one but I am very passionate about it.

Ok, I was a children's wear designer for 10 years. I think the use of colour and font are too grown up for very small children. I understand that you are aiming at a more sophisticated market, but it think they look too grown up.

Also, the pink issue. Stores produce this because it sells like hot cakes, even if it isn't liked on mumsnet. It was without exception, the best selling colour in girlswear every year. And by a long long way too.

The designs aren't limited to black and white tshirts, it's just easier to focus on the graphics in the early stages.
However the leggings would primarily be in blacks/white/greys.

I really like the designs!! I have 15 month and nearly 4 year boys and tend to stay away from little monster slogan type stuff and also prefer muted colors rather than bright and bold.
Also really like band t-Shirts and pirate stuff too so maybe it would appeal to people like me!!

They look too grown up to me, but I think that may be the colour. It is something I would look at if they came in nice bright colours bright oranges/greens/blues etc

I totally understand the pink tshirts selling wonderfully, but surely an alternative isn't always a bad thing?

And if I don't try I'll never know There's a lot of room for growth and change, with each and every comment my mind is whizzing and whirring.

I think the designs and the font of the slogans look really good. I also quite like what the slogans say. I wouldn't buy them myself for my daughters as I don't like slogans for children, sorry! I am sure they would be to some people's taste.

I like the leggings too and love that you are aiming to be gender neutral - so fed up of girl clothes always being pink!
Not a fan of slogan t shirts though I'm afraid.

Also would never buy black, nor pink! I much prefer bright colours or pastels.

Sorry for the typos, the nerves are getting to me!.

I would not have bought this for my dc in your target age range, they look too grown up to me, but would love the leggings for my dd (10).

I'm not so keen on the slogans, either, though. A nice t-shirt with a big star or firework (is that what is on the leggings?) would be nice.

Tbh I've been uming and ahing that the far right of the first pic about it being too grown up.
But they are all mock ups so subject to chop and change.

The legging print is arrows, there will also be plain leggings, leggings with x on the knees and also a marl material.
