Hi, I hope I'm not breaching any rules by doing this, if so super sorry and feel free to delete mods!

I am starting out a modern range of children's clothing, tshirts and leggings mainly.

I have had these designs mocked up (waiting on a couple of others)

I've still got time to make tweaks etc and I'd be grateful for any feedback. (Please be kind, this is nerve wracking!)

I understand it won't be to everyone's tastes.....bloody hell I've got a sweat on posting this!

And thank you in advance Smile

(Sorry for the repeats of the tshirts, it's to show the difference of the end two)

I have a 12 year old daughter who has started to wear slogan t-shirts. Hers range from Internet memes to the sarcastic. She has one that has a picture of fries and the slogan I love Frydays. For birthdays /Christmas look for tops on Redbubble or Cafepress.

Not sure how far you'll get marketing leggings for boys but the designs you have would look good as PJ bottoms.

Personally I avoid white as much as possibles free the age of 6m (my kids are stain magnets) . I would have bought my daughter black clothing but I wouldn't have matched a black top with a black bottom.

tea4two4three · 09/07/2015 20:22

I love them! Would buy them all for my 2yr old DS and know others who would like them as well. I do prefer brights, but that's because it suits his skin tone more.
Good luck! What you are doing is fantastic and I really hope it works for you Smile

foxmitten · 09/07/2015 20:45

enderwoman leggings are currently VERY popular for boys. They started out on etsy etc as a niche but have now trickled down and are even in the supermarkets. And very glad I am of this! Immensely practical. Much nicer than jogging bottoms which can look scruffy and - dare I say - chav, whilst being more comfortable than stiff jeans. My two younger ones live in leggings.

OP I will be(almost) a lone voice here and say I love everything about your designs, and would definitely buy them, don't suppose you want a cute 4 month old and 3 year old to test them do you? Wink

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/07/2015 20:46

Enderwoman (my ds would love your username!) I have a frie-yay (pic of fries) design to be mocked up ????????

Tea4two, thank you it means a lot! Grin

Fox a few of my friends were a bit scathing about boys leggings but now all can't wait till I get them made up!

They are so practical, cool and best of all comfortable.

If you pm me so I can remember your name I can let you know when I get my first batch, a few cute snaps in them could be a big help! X

I love leggings for my baby boys. Very helpful when learning to crawl. I suspect DS1 (aged 4) however would not wear them.

He loves soft jersey shorts though, maybe something like that for older boys? I have chatted to many mums who have sons DS1s age that hate jeans and love soft jersey jogging bottoms. If you could manage something like that, that doesn't actually look like jogging bottoms (ie a bit smarter), I'd certainly buy them!

I agree with everyone else about the slogans I'm afraid, it's an instant turn off for me. Big graphic designs like fireworks as mentioned up thread sound great to me though.

Best of luck.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/07/2015 21:42

Thank you reluctantcamper, I have bought my ds (5) a few jogger type trousers that are quite smart looking from Zara if that's any help to you. I also love my boys in Jersey shorts so it's something I'll definitely look into :)

I really like your designs. I love kids clothes that are a bit different - I just bought my daughter a couple of black T-Shirts and think they look great!
I've also been buying lots of leggings in graphic prints.

Im also, generally not keen on slogans but much prefer these to things like mummy's little princess etc.

I wish you the best of luck with your venture and feel free to pm me with a link to the website

Artandco · 09/07/2015 21:49

I don't like them sorry

  1. t shirts I never buy anything with slogans

  2. leggings aren't great with nappy age children as leave them looking like they have a huge bum! I would prefer a fitted style jogger or soft dungerees

squiz81 · 09/07/2015 21:49

I have two boys (3 years and 1 year) and I would buy these. Try and establish yourself on Instagram, that is where I have com across a lot of these boutique type sellers.

How much would you charge for boy leggings? I love my little one in leggings, but they can end up being a bit expensive.

Artandco · 09/07/2015 21:51

Oh and my boys wear leggings and tights all the time now, but they aren't in nappies anymore. So I wouldn't sell for under 2 years range

BelindaAllWorkedOut · 09/07/2015 21:56

I dress my girls in black (one of them goes out in head to toe black, sometimes, at her insistence. She's 4), but I don't normally buy slogans. I buy either black, white, neutrals, muted or primary colours. Candy pink and other garish colours are out, for me.

I'd buy slogans if they were clever, but I don't buy "cutesy" slogans. By clever, I'm thinking a twist on classic quotes or concepts, or something. Also, as the mother of girls, I'd welcome clothes that had an element of "girl power" to them. Not sure how that would work / what it would be, but there's only so many kittens and ballerinas you can face without getting the rage.

SirVixofVixHall · 09/07/2015 22:07

I loathe children in slogan t-shirts. Really really loathe them. And the word "awesome" makes me feel slightly green. So that's a no. I also dislike small children in black, and don't like black and white. So they aren't appealing to me at all. My dds only wear leggings for sports/cover on the beach though, they just aren't my kind of thing.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/07/2015 22:09

Thank you brioche, I will pm a link to my fb page (there's nothing on it yet, just to keep the name mainly)

Thanks artandco, I personally don't mind the nappy bum look.

Squiz, I will be opening an Instagram page very soon, can't wait to shoot some beautiful pictures to share :)

I'll also do a little blog connected to the website, nothing fancy but just to keep updates and behind the scenes kind of stuff.

Belinda, love the 'girl power' kind of slogans/ethos, love it when girls look cool and funky and also comfortable!

Artandco · 09/07/2015 22:10

I would prefer the leggings to not be black and white either

Not saying garish colours but something like navy and light grey, or dark grey and beige, or dark green and light grey

Homepride1 · 09/07/2015 22:10

Hmmm I wouldn't mind for my older dd (age 10) but certainly wouldn't put my dd 9 months in it, just far to grown up for a baby and really dislike black on young children I don't really even buy my 7 year old black except for leggings.

The patterns are nice but it don't really like slogans! The patterns would be nice in some brighter colours

RiverTam · 09/07/2015 22:10

I don't like them.

  1. I don't like slogans
  2. I don't like black on young children
  3. I don't like young children dressed in stuff that looks more suitable for a 12yo.
poocatcherchampion · 09/07/2015 22:11

I disagree re leggings and nappies. We used cloth and leggings would reliably fit over, when a more structured trouser wouldn't.

And leggings were the only trousers my 2 could reliably wear when potty trained at 1.5 as everything else had a saggy nappy bottom.

(But no black or slogans!)

poocatcherchampion · 09/07/2015 22:14

I've had a look at the designs now and I don't dislike them. I'm not sure I would buy them though as I avoid shopping in the whole

Artandco · 09/07/2015 22:17

Poo- see I found out reusable nappies meant they only really fitted dungerees well. Once potty trained then just ours lived in just tights from trained at 15 and 18 months. But everyone on here says that's stupidly early to be out of nappies, hence I wouldn't suggest over 2 being nappy free for the mass of people op wants to buy them

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 09/07/2015 22:19

Another one here who doesn't like slogans, or any writing on clothes. I like the general look of them though, but wouldn't buy black for a child in your target age range.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/07/2015 22:19

Sorry squiz I forgot to answer about price, I am meeting with my manufacturers in the next week or so.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to look and comment.

GingerFoxInAT0phat · 09/07/2015 22:21

Artandco, the designs aren't limited to black and white, these are early stage mock ups. I personally love grey, and have found a lovely soft grey marl fabric. I also like flashes of colour intermixed such as yellow, turquoise and orange.

OP posts:
henrycocoa · 09/07/2015 22:21

I wouldn't buy these as

a) I dislike slogan t-shirts
and b) I really dislike black on children

I would prefer a really bright picture on the Tshirts. I do love the patterns on the leggings, and I especially love the gender neutrality Smile

MrsLeighHalfpenny · 09/07/2015 22:22

BTW you say they are meant to be gender neutral, but the first two look like girls' outfits to me, and the third is a boy's design
