dh usually buys me a bottle for xmas, I have chanel mademoiselle, Ralph lauren romance and shalimar but I have no idea what to get this year, had a smell of the new D&G the one?? but that reminded me of a calvin klein fragrance.

Would you trust your DH/DP to make their own judgement and buy a bottle or do you always tell them which one you would prefer.

has anyone tried any of the Roberto Cavelli??? perfumes

I Luuuuuuuuuurve Fendi. Don't wear perfume at the moment though as have a 14 week old and would rather he just smelt me, IYKWIM...

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/11/2006 21:19

If you ring the number on Jo Malone's website they will send you FREE SAMPLES of whatever you like the sound of. The woman on eBay must be laughing all the way to the bank.

Chanel 22 for me, but is not available at the mo (to be relaunched in the new year), also Annick Goutal Eau du Sud, Eau d'Hadrien and Jo Malone Nutmeg & Ginger.

Cappuccino · 19/11/2006 21:21

always jean paul gaultier - the classic one. found it quite a few years ago, and now it smells like me, it's familiar but still surprising and beautiful

mil got me some fragile last year but even though the bottle was very pretty, didn't like it as much

am enjoying collecting my little bustier bottles; they live on a little shelf in the bathroom for everyone to enjoy

JackieNo · 19/11/2006 21:24

Hey - top tip, MrsSchadenfreude. Thanks. Just need to narrow it down now...

hatwoman · 19/11/2006 21:25

agree with cod et al. one only. mine is Cool Water - hate the imagery of it (I'm a Chanel person at heart) but adore the smell, which, after all, is what counts.

helsy · 19/11/2006 21:25

Chanel Chance
Chanel Cristalle
Chanel no 5
Chanel Allure
Get the picture?
Oh, and Clinique Happy

expatinscotland · 19/11/2006 21:26

My sister loves 'Cool Water' and it smells fab on her. Smells like a sewer on me, but I'm also a Chanel girl at heart.

I don't like very floral or citrusy scents.

expatinscotland · 19/11/2006 21:27

If I won the lotto, I'd be Chanel Cristalle all the way.

I used to wear 'Fracas'. I don't know if I still can. That was pre-children.

Also 24 rue Faubourg

Alibaldi · 19/11/2006 21:28

Another Davidoff Cool Water fan here, also Chanel - would also love Christalle, but currently have some No. 5

moondog · 19/11/2006 21:34

Davidoff.
Ah,for ages every time I went to Turkey there were scary orange women trying to squirt that at you in duty free.
I got confused and thought it was a new line by 'the Hoff'.

Not keen on perfume really.
Always renders a woman blowsy I find.....

expatinscotland · 19/11/2006 21:39

I love perfume.

Alibaldi · 19/11/2006 21:41

Me too . Wish I could have a different one for everyday of the week. Used to in the heady pre-child days of working.

moondog · 19/11/2006 21:41

You would

helsy · 19/11/2006 21:42

Blowsy's fine by me!

expatinscotland · 19/11/2006 21:43

They set the mood. I don't go out of the house w/o it. Or makeup, for that matter.

DD1 is a little miss as well. Today, when we went to the shopping centre, whilst I was browsing at boots, she took off her wellies and tried on a high heeled sandal she picked up off the shelf.

She's a girl after my own heart! 'Mummy, let's go look at clothes and makeup'.

YEAH, let's!

Agree about perfume, Expat, I do consider it to be an essential but I'm not so bothered about make-up.

moondog · 19/11/2006 21:49

Oooh Helsy,am blowsy enough without the scent,me.

MrsSchadenfreude · 19/11/2006 21:54

I quite like "O" Oui! But am not keen on the thought of going round smelling of wee.

One that needed renaming for the English market, I think.

lou33 · 19/11/2006 22:09

i usually only wear chanel no 5

tho today i am wearing my fella's gaultier cologne

expatinscotland · 19/11/2006 22:14

A bf bought me JP Gaultier Classique b/c he smelled it on some broad in the airport.

It smelled like grass clippings on me.

I gave it away.

brimfull · 19/11/2006 22:20

I love airports for the perfume, don't want to get on the plane.
