dh usually buys me a bottle for xmas, I have chanel mademoiselle, Ralph lauren romance and shalimar but I have no idea what to get this year, had a smell of the new D&G the one?? but that reminded me of a calvin klein fragrance.

Would you trust your DH/DP to make their own judgement and buy a bottle or do you always tell them which one you would prefer.

has anyone tried any of the Roberto Cavelli??? perfumes

eau de cartier. 'tis delicious will never buy another perfume again.

NomDePlume · 16/11/2006 18:46

rofl @ Cod's chick-magnet DH

You have to have a day perfume and an evening perfume otherwise you'll end up smelling like one of those overpowering women at the school gates, the ones you just walk past and you can taste their perfume

Eternity Summer is too light for evening and Gucci black is to heavy for daytime.

My Mum wears Chanel No.5, personally I find it too heavy/overpowering for daytime.

NomDePlume · 16/11/2006 18:50

I'm trying to find a nice daytime one for winter but all the ones I try just seem to be either too floral or smell like toilet duck !

l'eau d'issey. light, not flowery or sticky or sicky or sneeze-inducing.

unknownrebelbang · 16/11/2006 19:40

Estee Lauder's White Linen.

I will wear others, L'Air du Temps, Fleur de Fleurs, etc, but I absolutely love White Linen.

Reminds me of my wedding day, and of my mother.

Pinkchampagne · 16/11/2006 19:42

Paul Smith Extreme

I'm a perfume junkie, but over the last few months have found just a whiff of most of them, either on other people or when I do the testers, give me a raging headache.

It used to be just a few did this to me but now I have to be so so careful.

I can get away with spraying CK 1 on my back or round my tummy (don't laugh) and I'll be alright and I like to have a faint whiff of something nice about me. But if I put any on my wrists or neck or where I'm going to get a noseful on a regular basis throughout the day, I know I'll end up with a raging headache.

Anyone know the particular chemicals that cause this?

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 16/11/2006 19:53

I use Armani She and Narcisso Rodriguez.
Usually Armani for daytime and Narcisso for evening.

SparklyfestiveYellowFeathers · 16/11/2006 19:55

And I loved one Versace did called Etherel but they stopped making it.

Bradsmum · 16/11/2006 19:58

Chanel Allure and Guerlain Mitsouko when I fancy a change

bobobobs · 16/11/2006 20:05

Gillian76 · 16/11/2006 20:13

Oh bobobobs, am dying to try JM's orange blossom. Sounds delicious!

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 16/11/2006 20:36

I wear Eau De Givenchy.I first smelt it when I came out in the early eighties and I had a saturday job in Boots. I have worn it ever since

Sparkletastic · 16/11/2006 21:09

I too chop and change my perfumes to suit my mood / hormonal state.. Current fave is the new Hugo Boss one ('Femme'). DH tends to like flowery light ones and I like more full-on smells. We compromise by me giving him three testers I like to choose which one he'd like to buy me - such fun for him . I would have a signature scent if I could afford something really unusual and expensive (deffo agree on the Jo Malone stuff - doesn't she do a fig one?) but in the absence of big bucks I like changing and having different perfumes to associate with different points in my life. My first perfume was Lou Lou and my dad bought it for me on holiday - still makes me happy if I smell it .

Wuxiapian · 17/11/2006 01:40

Dolce Vita by Dior is my absolute favourite.
