So there. :)

Omg the builders arrived at dawn this morning and have managed to FINALLY punch out the living room wall and are fitting the bifol ds as we speak. Meanwhile the house has a layer of dust so thick you can write your name in it. Angry But still, even with just the wall missing we have a light filled living space instead of a dark hobbit house.
I am quite jazzed up about redecorating now, and shall proceed with a visit to B et Q plus tard for paint.

In work news ( BD-grim situation, but just cast it aside and enjoy every minute of your break), I had a strange conversation with df and colleague yesterday who has been 'turned' by one of the unions, after saying there was little point in industrial action, and has voted to strike. I am taken aback and not just a little wary of this. In the latest model of the new workplace, our department has entirely disappeared. So that's the reason for the strike. I am formulating questions to HR regarding the latest letter saying they wouldn't make people redundant , only redeploy them . So what is true my Crepey friends ? Having been relatively relaxed about the whole Wretched Situation I am suddenly panic stricken. I am going to phone HR now and try and get some answers. ( slightly freaking out, not helped by circular saw 1room away.)
What will I do FGS? I feel unemployable, old and of course my leg is being a right bastard too.
Ok I will Man up Princess in a minute.Sad

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2015 17:15

Which Centerparcs, CV - we went to one in the Nederlands some time ago.

Herbs, that reminds me of the story one of my colleagues tells of him winning the dads race - he was a semi-pro footballer and is very competitive, and he streaked ahead. His DD was saying to everyone, that's my dadSmile

Cremo, you are not old and unemployable, you are experienced and multi-talented. They are fools if they make you redundant.

I am on holiday! BBQ and beer has been had, and I am feeling full and relaxed despite coming home to a house-full of teensSmile

motherinferior · 17/07/2015 17:25

Crem, wot BTM said.

BD, that is beyond pants - even Huge Pants of the bikini type - and I am so sorry. Please try not to let it affect your holiday if at all possible: bastardly bastards.

I am heading up to norf Lunnon with prosecco. If I weren't, I have two end of term drinkies options round here. Grin

hattymattie · 17/07/2015 17:36

Had a lovely week here - tomorrow off to the PiL in the Alps where it may be cooler but there will be no internet! May check back later but otherwise see you Wednesday Crepeys.

Blackduck · 17/07/2015 21:30

Email at 4 this afternoon ( convenient timing) - will all be done 3-6 August - I'm away.... It's crap...

bigTillyMint · 17/07/2015 21:41

Oh BD, that's horrid. Done deliberately when people are likely to be on holidayAngrySad

Blackduck · 17/07/2015 21:46

Probably.... But they will argue they are taking time to consider all responses (head desk()

As dp said I now need to shelve it. Nowt I can do, nowt I can change.......

MrsSchadenfreude · 17/07/2015 23:44

BD, they are all bastards. Go on holiday and resolutely don't think about it (easier said than done, I know).

I have laughed out loud re the packing and term dates, because it is all SO TRUE.

CointreauVersial · 18/07/2015 01:05

Sad Oh, that's rubbish, BD.

NUFC69 · 18/07/2015 06:52

BD, what a load of rubbish they are. Try to have a lovely holiday and not think about it. Hatty, safe journey.

I have woken up to a glorious morning. Had an excellent meal out last night: scallops and black pudding to begin, a plaice, salmon and prawn thing for main course - couldn't manage a pud, of course. Last day in Leicestershire.

addle · 18/07/2015 11:36

BTM - would you consider sharing your packing list if v nicely asked? sounds like excellent idea. I used to have similar for camping but it probably still includes nappy bucket ...

BD - just adding to the chorus of that's absolute rubbish and hope you put it from you and have wonderful time.

People wanting to buy my dad's flat, having not been in touch for weeks, yesterday afternoon sent our solicitor a list of questions on clauses in the contract followed by request to exchange and complete same afternoon as they have booked builders to go in on Monday. Er ... nope. And surprisingly upsetting.

Blackduck · 18/07/2015 11:38

Addle I have come to the conclusion that house buying turns some people bonkers.....

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2015 12:46

Of course Addle - just pm me your email. Sorry to hear the flat buyers are being idiots.

herbaceous · 18/07/2015 12:49

There are so many idiots in the world. Why can't everyone be like us crepeys?

Battling hangover and doing party prep. Things I've learned so far today: carving a death star out of a watermelon is surprisingly difficult; jabba the hutt is difficult to wrap; and han solo floats when immersed in jelly.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2015 13:32

Han Solo floats when immersed in jelly? The things you learn here! Grin

Addle, those buyers sound nuts. Utterly bonkers.

Where can we take DD2's Fussy Eater Friend to eat? I am slightly inclined not to waste the money, frankly, but DH says we should take her out to dinner. We had fish and chips on the pier in Brighton yesterday, which went down well. But all she has eaten is pasta (I have made lasagne and macaroni cheese so far) and pizza (margarita only) and a burger and chips.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2015 13:36

Somewhere likely TGIF so she can choose?

Blackduck · 18/07/2015 13:38

MrsS sounds like you need somewhere that has those kinds of things (along with something more exciting for you) on the menu!

Here a rare day sans ds who is at a sleepover. Dos gut still out of action, and the malaria tablets were eye wateringly expensive! (Luckily only have to take them 1 day before, for the duration, and a week after....
Have largely packed - aside from odd things still drying and sent dp off to buy sandals as he has none.

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2015 14:31

BD I don't know what malaria tablets are like now but 15 years ago people we were with in Tanzania/Zanzibar were having hallucinations! Are you doing the Ngorogoro? And where are u staying in Zanzibar? Somewhere more upmarket than we did I bet (backpacking!)

Blackduck · 18/07/2015 14:55

Larium is the stuff to avoid BTM - known to have v. Bad side effects and you are supposed to do a three week trial run of it before you go. Not on that thank god (I would have refused to take it because of my depressive tendencies....)
We are doing couple of days in Seleros (game park), then Stone town and then somewhere on the coast dp has booked.... Must get all emails together actually so I know what we are doing when!

bigTillyMint · 18/07/2015 17:37

Yes, Larium, that's it! We took the other stuff. We actually started with the other stuff when we went to Kerala with the kids, but as everyone kept saying it wasn't Malarial and DD kept throwing it up, we gave up. Thankfully we were all fine.

Molly, DS has got a match down your way tomorrow = think I'd better go as I haven't been in aaaaggges! Although I may have to give it a rain check after a 40th party tonightWink

CointreauVersial · 18/07/2015 18:29

Just back from an exciting trip to Halfords to purchase a roof box for the new car (collecting Wednesday Grin Grin). I spotted a four-man dome tent for the princely sum of £20 and bought it for the DDs. They are thrilled, and have decided to live in it for the rest of the summer.

MrsSchadenfreude · 18/07/2015 19:10

Bargain, CV!

Back in my Days in the White Man's Grave, it was choloraquine and nivaquine. One daily, one fortnightly. Cerebral malaria was a big killer there, coming in at number three after being shot and cirrhosis of the liver.

Spent the afternoon drinking in a bar at Piccadilly with DH, then spent a fortune in Wholefoods and came home. Am going to make roast chicken for us all and DD2's fussy friend tomorrow. I did tentatively suggest chicken pie, but she said she had never had it, didn't know what it was and didn't want to try it. She has brought an enormous jar of peanut butter with her. I see her eating it out of the jar with a spoon when everyone else is asleep. Grin

herbaceous · 18/07/2015 19:53

Flipping HECK. Next year, DS is going to the cinema, alone, for his birthday. Another party like that could kill me. Everyone loved it, though, especially him, which is what matters. I am now going to fall face first into a large glass of red.

lalsy · 18/07/2015 20:28

Herbs, sounds like a triumph. Get outside a big glass of red now. Glad he loved it.

Stropperella · 18/07/2015 20:59

OMG, Herbs, ds and dh have just seen the pics on FB. And they both want that party next year. Yoda soda? Genius. Wookie cookies? Double plus ultra genius. And the Death Star??
