JH just looks nervous all the time, like he's about to be found out. For being an atrocious c**t, perhaps!

Just had chums round for curry and champers. Have decided on the theme for my upcoming 50th birthday party - a Saga party. Elasticated slacks, cruise wear, golf trousers, gin and jag, blazers and Marjorie Mountshaft. Drinks to include sherry, snowballs and a selection of Martinis. We will have on display some high-backed chairs, equity release leaflets, and a Stanch stair lift to the toilets.

Ooooh, are we invited Herbs? I'll dig out my navy stayprest slacks and pastel cardi!

Yeah, JH nervous even his old uni friends will realise he's actually a Grade A C**T

Grin Herbs!

You lot seem to be posting far too much and fast for me to keep up Shock All sounds good bar the deluge in the SE, but I'm sure my Garden Waterer#1 won't mind too much!

Here it is a glorious sunny, blue sky day again. Slept like a log last night despite the bedroom being baltic. May have been something to do with the alcohol consumed with our old mates last night. In fact the DC had up and breakfasted before DH and I had even woken up which is unheard of for about the last 5 years! It may also have something to do with DSs grumpiness today. We took a gondola up to see the views of Christchurch and the coast, etc this morning (nearly got blown off the mountain and only caught glimpses through the scudding clouds up that high), then on to watch DD#2 of friends playing netball at park with 18 courts, all being used all day for netball - massive difference to girls sport in the UKAngry DS was very impressed by the girls in skimpy dresses sport and it was lovely watching in the sun before a walk round the centre of Christchurch.

Looks like there will be a table tennis tournament this evening. Any excuse for sport/banter!

You need Babycham and cheese footballs too, Herbs. And titbits in little bowls - olives stuffed with red pepper, peanuts, little white onions and sour gherkins, ritz crackers with primula cheese spread squirted on from a tube or a bit of pate.

I am jotting, Mrs S. I do love a bit of Primula.

And yes - a Saga party wouldn't be a saga without the crepeys!

Other thoughts - food could be served on picnic tables, with two wobbly chairs, in the manner of those caravanners who stop in the lay-by of a busy A road to have refreshments, while not letting Standards Slip.

We are overwhelmed with German hospitality (makes me feel ashamed of my help-yourself approach). DD overjoyed to be with her exchange partner again and they haven't stopped talking. Whole family v. lovable including Granny & dog. Rain today but 32 deg till now. Beautiful countryside & pretty mediaeval towns & castles Smile Hope everyone is getting a break and congratulations to Inferiorette on trumpet triumph

Oh Auriga, so pleased you're getting a nice break. I am off for a gloriously bluestocking day in the British Library before attending DD1's thespy triumph later.

Herbs, that is sheer genius. And easily costumed at any charity emporium too.GrinGrinGrin

Oh Hatty & Beachy. I hope neither of you get caught up in the mess at the Eurotunnel. There seems to be " migrant activity" as they call it, causing the tunnel to be closed.Sad

Herbs wonderful idea.!GrinGrin Love it.

For QQ re Copenhagen eateries:

Salt - waterfront warehouse £££ crispy crab

Pate pate - near central station in grimy part of town, hip kødbyen burrito with grilled peaches very lively ££

The københavn street market -a selection of eating truck places in a warehouses ( bit like brick lane ) a plate in your hand £

Oliver and the black circus - eclectic room , very good food ££

Tight- Cosy ( hygge) surf and turf wonderful black bread fresh out of the oven££

Schoennemann - trad Danish smørrebrodd lunch ££

Book when possible. Prices are from memory. It's an expensive place to eat in the city centre but there are some good cheap places in the outer reaches of osterbro norrebro and freidrichshavn. We stayed in vesterbro which is a bit edgy and Camden like. Pate Pate was round the corner from our amazing apartment and we loved the vibe there.

Just back from a Food Festival in a local park; having stocked up on Artisan cupcakes and North African chutneys. I ate the best hotdog I had ever tasted (brioche bun, natch), and also bought a bottle of gin made from water drawn from a pool just outside Guildford. The place was heaving with Boden and men in red trousers. Achingly middle class. Grin

Ow, my eyes. DH has a pair of mustard yellow cords, exactly like those sported by Dom on Gogglebox, which caused much hilarity (particularly as DH looks a bit like him).

We had "there is nothing to eat in this house" again this afternoon from DH. There was bread, crumpets, ham, cheese (many different sorts), tomatoes, salad, hummous etc etc. He didn't want those though. He wanted wraps with grated carrot. We live opposite Tesco...

Thanks for the ideas Crem. Makes me peckish just reading your post!

What's worse - red trousers or those bright yellow straw coloured thick cords favoured by many a Fulham type...?
