I still haven't finished my application form. Prevarication is taking the form of writing some 'reflective essays' for my course. About things that happened months ago, and that I can't remember.

Well done Stropps - go visit and see what you think.

Memory Clinic went OK. DM thought the male nurse was very nice and he asked loads of questions. Now to wait for an appointment with the doctor in September.
She is now snoozing.

Yes Stropps, you are truly brave.
Herbs, stop reflecting and start applying!
BTM, glad it went well with your dm. I'd forgotten that's what you had to do Grin.

I've got to hand in all my reflective essays by 2 July, so do have to reflect a few more times. But maybe applying is more urgent in this instance!

Ahhh, FGS, here's a ridiculous thing: I've just had a phone call from the school that I sent a job app to on Monday. They have just got round to reviewing their budget for the next academic year and have realised that they can't afford that post at all and are withdrawing it, but they are ringing all the applicants to ask if they would like to transfer their applications to 2 other - completely different and barely paid at all - posts that are still on offer. Er, no thanks. Hmm
I'm not too bothered as I wasn't very convinced by that job anyway, but I am a bit Shock about the evident budgetary/ organisational chaos.

Herbs, do that job application. The worst that can happen is they ring you up and tell you the job has disappeared in a puff of smoke Grin

Am I up to doing some lecturing in journalism in Sept? MrsS says I need to be a True Crepey of CHS: but I am nervous that I will be discovered for the complete untrained fraud that I am.

It's a 'just do it' scenario, MI. Grin And thou art undoubtedly a True Crepey of CHS.

Stropps Angry But not Shock budgets are being cut right, left and centre.

MI I agree with Stropps - just do it. You are up to the job.

So glad to be on the bus to LiverpoolBlush!

Glad it went ok with DM, Tilly…but Sept seems a very long wait to see the Doc, doesn't it?
Stropps it's probably better to know now, than to be appointed on contract only to have it ended after a term due to the cuts. Keep on trucking…your new found confidence will find you a job.
MI you are a very clever woman…there's no question, of course you're more than up to it. You will wow them…

Which is more than I can say for yours truly who is very busy doing bugger all professionally and feeling it very keenly. and so is the credit card

But I am doing very well on the clothing and very shallow but CHS style and beauty front. This has turned out to be a great fit, and I have today bought this jacket half price in the sale, and a pair of closed toe, wedge navy and tan espadrilles to wear with existing navy, large, organza hat. All for a formal daytime do next weekend.

The jumpsuit also arrived, also a great fit but too busy a pattern, making me look a bit clown- like. I might see if they have one in the same shape in a plain colour.

I am now putting off doing any exercise by doing my job application. All I need to do now is find something more unpleasant than exercise, to get that done. Cleaning perhaps.

Blimey, there's clearly something in the (Crepey) air - so many job applications / novels / plays etc etc. Aren't we awesome? Not wanting to be left out I have just today applied for something that I'd really like to do but have been procrastinating about forevvvvver. Go me!

Oooh, ooh! I have purchased a facial epilator. It has done a good job of ripping out the moustache I didn't know I had, but was a bit less good on the beard. You can admire my hairlessness tomorrow night. I may even have a glass of wine.

Doing application, together with glass of wine to help the bullshit flow. Putting off cooking the dinner.

I could write a self-help book on this. Get stuff done by making the alternative even more horrible. You read it here first.

I like it Herbs - excellent idea.
Do you have that fab picture book by John Birmingham(??) "Would You Rather...?" The dcs loved it when little and we still sort of play it now!

Would you rather be chased by a crocodile or sat on by a giant toad?
Would you rather eat monkey brains or raw squid?

You can do
Would you rather clean the loo or fill in an application form?
Would you rather clean the whole house or run 10k?

We have that very book! Would you rather you mum had a row in a cafe, or your dad did a dance at school? DS is sometimes very boring and literal, and replies 'none of the above'.

But I can see how it could be translated for grown ups!

Love the book - a bit like Snog, Marry, Avoid for tedious tasks.

Well, I've been run ragged by my offspring this afternoon. I was planning a nice quiet afternoon, just DD2 and I (DS off on Y10 boat trip, and DD1 at gymnastics via friend). I thought I might make a start on writing the speech I need to give at DDad's party.... First thing this morning, a text from one of DD2's friends - an emergency, can friend stay over this evening? No problem, collect friend and luggage. Then a text from DD1, who's forgotten her gym kit, so I will have to take her to gym after all. Grrr... Half way to gym, there's a desperate call from DS who has forgotten his suit trousers... aaarghhh... so I drop DD1, hare back home (phoning DD2 to meet me at the end of the road with said trousers... she's there alright, but holding a scabby old pair of school trousers Hmm). Back to the house, race off to school though the (now) rush hour traffic to meet DS (who just makes the coach). Phone DD2 to get the dinner in the oven. Back home again, feed DD2 and friend, stick a plate in the oven for DD1, into car with girls back down to school again for a meeting about forthcoming Germany trip I had forgotten about, back home at last, collapsing on sofa with a plateful of cold chicken goujons and a large glass of wine....oh my days... I reckon I have spent just shy of three hours in the car today, almost entirely because my children can't sort themselves out. Angry Angry

And I haven't so much as written a sentence of my speech. Actually, if anyone has any tips ....?

Rose, it's partly my fault that it won't be till September as we are away for a month then GCSEs and other stuff... It's not like the doctor will do anything, just tell us what he feels the problems are, I think.

God that sounds stressful CV! I hate doing speeches, apart from my wedding speech which was basically taking the P out of DHWink

Love the idea of an adult version of the bookGrin

I am home to an empty house (hooray!) - DH at his Prom, DS at a mates birthday and DD out with her mate (I think in the park...)

Gah! DH has just declared he has an "early start" tomorrow, so I will have to pick DS up from his boat trip. At 11.30pm.

Herbs, I call that Double Displacement Activity. It works.

Love the idea of crepey CHS but would like to add Bravery to it. Bravery is under-rated and under-praised imv.

Sterling work with your mum, BTM.

I think fellow crepeys might appreciate this thread, or at least its origins:

The bath was never so clean as when I was doing my PhD! (It's a well known feature of research students including contemplating writing a book instead of a thesis...)

Funeral was lovely and moving. His son (only a year older than Ds) broke my heart.
