Eeek, CV, glad he was OK.

MI, is she going with the swing band? Friends DD is going!
Sorry to hear about the splitSad How old are the boys?

Blackduck · 13/07/2015 07:10

CV - scary - I was reading The Teenage Brain last night where she talks about how they don't take on board these things and you need to keep reiterating it.....

MI how sad.

Dp landing in approx 15 minutes so will see him tonight - meanwhile the dog has eaten the entire Middle of an onion and goats cheese loaf ( the middle was said onion and goats cheese) - might need to warn dp....

Sodding phone emojis.

Yes, with the swing band. A rather bizarre combination of the battlefields and music. And chocolate.

Nephews are 15 and 11: and I worry, frankly, about the fact they'll be now living with a mother prone to really quite nasty depression. She is a fabulous, involved and caring parent - it's not that - and she has done a lot of being in sole charge of them, it's just obviously more difficult when you throw mental health into the mix.

They've nearly split several times before, so maybe this won't be terminal. I do hope not.

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2015 08:09

MI, I thought it sounded varied and interesting!
Fingers crossed for the best.

Rudy, is it a year already?Shock

herbaceous · 13/07/2015 11:55

How on earth are people broken up already? Are you all private [tugs forelock]? We're not off until 23 July.

Feeling a trifle jaded after having our boozy neighbours round for Sunday lunch yesterday. They brought gin cocktails with them, with an array of bitters to choose from. And a bottle of champagne. And then we had two bottles of red and some prosecco.

Have just been interviewed by a lovely young lady for her PhD on women's labour over the past 40 years. She's moving to the US in two weeks, as she can't bear to live in the UK under this government. She refuses to acknowledge George Osborne even exists, so repugnant is he.

Blackduck · 13/07/2015 12:19

We're still at school until Friday Herbs....
Think Rudy's lot are finished because of exams....

motherinferior · 13/07/2015 12:48

Dd1 still doing time!

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2015 12:48

Herbs, BD is right about Rudy's. We finish Friday, DH finished next Tues.
Privates are off though - makes driving to my DC's school when necessary much more pleasant!

And you have the right kind of neighboursEnvy!

Rosebag · 13/07/2015 13:02

Goodness, CV!!! but I expect just having the Old Bill call the house will be enough of a deterrent for DS doing nothing like that again! Hope the packing finally went ok…I'm sure my two would be delighted to swop any personally hygiene essentials for a couple of bags of Dorritos.

MI That's Sad about your DSIS and DSIL…..like you say, maybe they need some time apart. It might not be the end of everything.

Mine don't break up until 24th!!! Whilst I hate the early start when they're at school, I can't say I'm willing it to be the end of term…noooo.

Rudy Smile about the eyes….great job!

What a dull weekend I have had…and now it's raining. I have worked with ConS this morning over this never-ending script revision. Tonight DD has a four hour dress run at YT with shows on Wednesday and Friday evenings. This is DS2's last week at school prior to a week of Work Experience.

On Tues 22nd, next week it seems I have to attend a meeting in the cafe at RFH. It should be over with by about 12.15/30 latest. As it's on the South Bank, is anyone up for a lunchtime mini meet up in said cafe?

QueenQueenie · 13/07/2015 13:17

Would love to Rose... but can't. Another time?

Rosebag · 13/07/2015 13:22

That'll be 21st, not 22nd…

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2015 13:38

I can, I can, I can!

motherinferior · 13/07/2015 14:22

tempted...

beachyhead · 13/07/2015 14:37

I can't, sorry Rose.

Can we put a date in the diary for September though, so Crem can achieve bargainous airline prices? Do either 19th or 26th grab anyone?

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2015 14:56

26th would be better for meSmile

Blackduck · 13/07/2015 15:33

If I'm down in the summer with the boy anyone up for a mini meet? I will post on here....

bigTillyMint · 13/07/2015 15:35

Of course BD - I'm back 17th AugWink

herbaceous · 13/07/2015 15:52

I could do a micro Rose meet! What with being free as a bird, and everything...

Just had a very fruitful shop in Westfield for DS's birthday party. For the dreaded party bags, I went to Tiger, and got 40 glow sticks, 30 cute erasers and 36 brightly coloured dice for a total of £15. Result.

I also bought a dress I don't need and a t-shirt. I'm going to have to flog off lots of my clothes to make some money back!

I tried on a lovely dress in Cos that wasn't a shapeless sack. Unfortunately it exposed my CroissantSwede knees.

motherinferior · 13/07/2015 16:27

In totally irrelevant news, another friend of mine, who's 40, has just emailed me to say she's pregnant. I'm so pleased for her.

Auriga · 13/07/2015 16:49

I was reiterating safety rules about open air swimming to DD only this morning, CV. She didn't put her fingers in her ears and sing, but very nearly Angry.

She's off on chamber orchestra tour today, so I added a warning about looking the right way when she crosses the road & not following others. I'm so wound up; it's probably just as well for DD that she's getting a week away from me.

Talking of which, I rang my less ill sister yesterday at about 2pm. She sounded odd and incoherent. Said she was just tired. She wasn't, she was drunk. DBiL later said she'd drunk a bottle of wine by 11am and it's happening every weekend. She's supposed to be coming down here to look after DM next week so we can have five days' break. So I'm torn between concern for her, anger at her and concern for myself.

MI, good to hear your friend is pregnant again.

Auriga · 13/07/2015 16:50

Oh! And another one MI Smile

motherinferior · 13/07/2015 16:59

Oh Auriga Sad Angry.

My little Swinger has apparently visited a chocolate factory.

CointreauVersial · 13/07/2015 17:22

What a worry, Auriga. Does she have history with alcohol?

Shame to hear about your DSis, MI. I'm always expecting to hear that my DSis is throwing in the marital towel, but I think she and BIL are so incompatible they actually work as a couple, IYSWIM. He does his thing, she does hers....

Herbs - good work on the Tiger party bags (I heart that shop). And no, our school hasn't broken up yet. But it's a very weird week, with over half the pupils away on trips or post-exam. The only people in school are the Y10s (ie DS), who are all togged up in suits and ties for Business Week (bor-ing apparently), and the Y8s, who spend the week loafing about in mufti, putting together a whole-year performance of Joseph. Then it's all over by next Tuesday.

We still haven't planned a holiday... all depends when/if we get DS's new passport. I think he has blagged a week away in Wales with GF, but we might squeeze in a quick jaunt to the continent en famille at the end of August. Failing that, I'm tempted to spend a fortnight on my sofa. I need a break.
