I'm sorry, I've lowered the tone and killed the thread! Hmm

hattymattie · 06/07/2015 16:16

Grin Beachy - no you haven't - just been running round sorting out DD1 interrail. Now collapsed watching Murray.

Where's crem?!Confused

I am SO unfit, and appear to have not a single muscle in the front of my body. Judging by my condition after a 15-minute davina 'core' workout.

Peculiar hard bloating of lower belly of late. I really am gorgeous.

Blackduck · 06/07/2015 19:42

Day one done..... If I can get To Friday like this it will be fine....... (Clings to flimsy hope)
Ds polished off a paneer curry to himself. I am on a 2 so salad here.....

I try to avoid mirrors at all costs because they depress me too much.

Ha ha to tea towels :)

Stropperella · 06/07/2015 21:08

I will be strolling fatly running round the 5k Run or Dye course in Bournemouth this Saturday in aid of Julia's House Children's Hospice. I will be accompanied by the dcs, but as they both have friends to run with, as shall probs be just puffing along by myself. All donations welcome via the link I have just put up on FB. If anyone who is not on FB would like to donate, please let me know via PM and I will send you the link. Here endeth the shameless plug...

Auriga, very well done to your dd for her Grade 7 violin. What an achievement! Fantastic.

Crem, I hope your efforts for dd's birthday work out. If she is minded to, she will take a bad message from whatever you do, but she will probably see it in a different light when she is further down the line towards adulthood. Sometimes the only consolation we have in the moment is knowing that we thought carefully about things and did our best, because the dcs will say we got it wrong, whatever we do.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 06/07/2015 22:05

Auriga, can you put a rocket under DD2's pretty little tushie about her looming G5? She is on course AGAIN to make a complete hash of scales 'n' arpeggios. I am on the verge of screaming WHEN YOU FAIL IT WON'T BE MY FAULT. And she is a GOOD musician, dammit. Just can't be arsed to practise like me at her age.

MollyAir · 06/07/2015 22:27

Loving the tea towels...although I wouldn't actually send those particular ones...

Herbs, the bloating may be to do with the hot/humid/stormy weather. I started a whole thread about my own tragic Suffering in hot weather - scroll down to the end to get the stomach stuff:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2413111-Does-anyone-know-why-heat-humidity-make-some-people-feel-so-awful-and-not-others

Think abdominal migraines.

Stropps, PM me a link to your JustGiving page since I'm a FB incompetent, please.

hattymattie · 07/07/2015 06:50

Molly - I read much of that thread. I don't bloat but I do go red - I'm not even overweight but as soon as it's hot I go red. This happens to nobody else - I suspect it's the menopause and hope it's transitory!

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2015 08:56

Feeling a bit sad this morning - woke up to a message from one of my French friends to say that their father has died. Such a lovely man - was so lovely and kind to me (as was her mum) from the first time I went to stay with their large family, to nearly 40 years on.Sad

So I am cheering myself up with a coffee and pastry before work in the lovely bakery/cafe which is not packed out with yummy mummy's as the private schools have broken up.

Auriga · 07/07/2015 10:00

MI my policy is to encourage and praise. And practise conscientiously myself to set an example - which has been difficult recently.

motherinferior · 07/07/2015 10:28

I did tell her she was making a really lovely sound with the pieces. It's the scales. The arpeggios. She doesn't know them. Ah well, is not the end of the world.

I'm not like this about anything else!

BTM Sad

Blackduck · 07/07/2015 11:11

So sorry BTM...

MI - you could be talking about ds when it comes to scales and arpeggios.......

herbaceous · 07/07/2015 12:53

That's horrible, BTM. I feel sad for you!

Took a trip to Sainsburys this morn to get birthday essentials such as Haribo for distribution to the class, and a cake. Minion, in this case. I may or may not also have bought two more dresses and a hat. Oh, and a beach bag. And some swim shorts for DS.

One of the dresses is just Lovely. It's a very structured, 50s-style, with a kind of 'riviera' print. Ultra flattering. Tragically, I can't find it online to link to.

Rosebag · 07/07/2015 13:09

Commiserations MI as you know, I've got one of those...but I'm now past caring, frankly. So long as they play and make lovely music. She might find eventually that GCSE and A level music are more rewarding....found out recently that DS can apply for a scholarship for music tuition at Birmingham and only has to show grade eight standard playing at the ( video ) audition, no one seems bothered about ABRSM certificates for some reason.

Sorry tilly that's sad. Flowers

Crem good advice on here re DDs birthday. Has it happened yet? Was it ok? Xx

herbs I also put on weight low carbing. I failed monumentally because I ate too much of what I was allowed. A handful of nuts quickly became the entire packet! SW is working so much better...slow..painfully so, but 1 stone and 11 lbs thus far.

Sorry you still feel so shit at work BD Continued strength to you x

stropps good on you. Have donated but it might have appeared in DHs name...

Had a terribly up and down weekend ...mostly down by Sunday with meltdowns over DDs revision for last few mocks and today's Science ISA. And DS going into a Stropps because I wouldn't email in to the school a sickie note for Monday when allegedly no one was going in....DH and I escaped to the lovely Little Venice area for a cream tea courtesy of a dear friends birthday present voucher. The DC were very po faced but we just had to get away from them.

Massive long four and a half hour session with ConS yesterday working on the umpteenth script revision. Then chauffeuring and god knows what else. DH went to Wimbledon Envy

herbaceous · 07/07/2015 13:50

A somewhat tardy AF arrived today, which could account for some of the bloating.

Writing this blasted assignment, still, and thought I'd pretty much nailed it. Then discovered a load of highly relevant stuff I'm going to have to shoehorn in somehow. Will have to jiggle it all into shape tomorrow, pre DS birthday celebrations.

Talking of which, I am awaiting no fewer than five (v, 5) deliveries of gifts today, to wrap this evening. I want them to come before school run time, for obvious reasons...

motherinferior · 07/07/2015 14:20

Rose, that is MASSIVE weight loss. Am lost for words in admiration.

Structure so important in a frock these days, I find.

herbaceous · 07/07/2015 14:23

Indeed. These days one needs one's frock to wear one, rather than the other way round.

herbaceous · 07/07/2015 15:01

And yes, Rose. Such shedding must have taken a great deal of dedication, at which I can merely gawp.

herbaceous · 07/07/2015 16:16

Oh FFS. Had lovely post-school outing planned with DS - cinema, McDonald's, cake. Then a slight misunderstanding meant that I ended up inviting his BFF too. This is fine, as BFF is lovely.

I expressly said to DS, 'whatever you do, do not invite Little Shit (crepey threads passim)'. What did he do today? Invite LS. BFF does not like LS. LS will be a pain in the arse the whole time. There isn't room in the car for three kids. But I can't really uninvite him.

Gggrrrrrr.

bigTillyMint · 07/07/2015 16:20

Herbs, your frock does sound lovelyEnvy

And Rose, you are wasting awayEnvy

I am soooo pleased that my knee is no longer hurting and I was able to chase one of my little lovelies across the park today without feeling like an OAP!
