By the way, niacinamide is a form of Vitamin B3, so maybe taking B vitamins will also help combat oiliness?

daftyburd · 26/06/2015 18:32

Lucysmam I am off out tonight trialling a Dr Ampoule sebum control sample that I received. It can be worn over or under makeup. I have gone for the under option so will let you know if I don't end up an oil slick.

lucysmam · 26/06/2015 18:35

Grin Scrambled, they call them racist on reddit because of the black/white names

FrugalFashionista · 26/06/2015 19:10

Skin & Tonics is back - though I hope it's not going to be just about selling us stuff.

It might be no surprise to anyone but I make my own niacinamide serum!

LittleMysMoominMamma · 26/06/2015 19:56

Just catching up with the thread...

Bigbuttons so glad to hear you love the Sulwhasoo eye cream too, I've been using it for about a month now, its amazing stuff, great for hydration with none of the negative effects I've experienced with every other eye cream I've tried. I'm also using a couple of other Sulwhasoo skin products, the Essential Balancing Water and Lotion in particular are lovely and light but (again) very hydrating. I'm pretty sure the smell is ginseng...

The prices of full size products are enough to make your eyes water, but buying samples make them much more affordable Smile

bigbuttons · 26/06/2015 20:28

moomin it's gorgeous stuff. I have samples of the ginseng super expensive rejuvenating cream too. One sample lasts me 2-3 days as it's so rich.
These last couple of days alot of people have told me I look REALLY well. One guy at work today kept saying it and giving me a close looking at ( no funny business though!).
I'm sure it's combination of giving my acids wait time and using the sulwhasoo cream

bigbuttons, do you have any diy links for niacinamine serum?

lucysmam · 26/06/2015 21:18

Grin GERTI, the waiting drives me nuts too...I do like getting parcels through the post though.

I made a fiver today fixing up a prom dress with some loose threads and a zipper that was coming loose - thinking about spending it on a couple of essential oils and some more compressed sheet masks. Can't decide which oils though.

EuphemiaCoxton · 27/06/2015 07:54

Can't be loving my tony moly panda white sleeping mask more.
My skin loves it. Plus the pot is the cutest

CoconutAmericano · 27/06/2015 08:00

May I ask.. The Cosrx A sol is this a pre toner? Is it for lowering the ph of your skin I mean? I'm looking for one to get my skin's ph low enough for my actives to work at their optimum..

lucysmam · 27/06/2015 08:13

50 shades of snail review here Coconut. If you scroll a bit she says it can be used to return your skin to the correct ph but may slightly reduce the penetration of the acids.

lucysmam · 27/06/2015 08:30

Coconut, have a look at this snow white and the pear review - comparison of COSRX and Mizon toners for the step you want (you could just wait though - it's cheaper Grin ).

FrugalFashionista · 27/06/2015 08:42

GERTI my sympathies, I had to wait 25 days for my CosRx stuff and 26 days for my capsule pods. It was good that the CosRx shipment arrived as my Dragon's blood pads aren't here yet although I purchased them a week ago from the UK. Monday is a public holiday in Rome (with late night fireworks!j so nothing will arrive before Tuesday... Except my MIL who will be here Monday night Wink Our last houseguest...

I think the CosRx AHA/BHA toner is meant to be pH adjuster. I use it that way anyway. Not sure that I need it, I tend to integrate the waiting times in my routine anyway.

Today I promise to do some heavy lifting for the move. I will tackle the walk-in closet... I'm not allowed back here before there is some significant progress Wink

scrambled could I ask you where you bought your innisfree samples from please ? I've has a scroll back but must have missed it

lucysmam · 27/06/2015 08:56

Frugal are dragons blood pads from secret key like the essence I was looking at? What do they do?

Good luck with the walk in closet...am Envy of walk-in-ness!

CoconutAmericano · 27/06/2015 09:21

Thanks for the links lucysmum. I'll check them once im home.

lucysmam · 27/06/2015 09:22

Yay! The postie has just been with my (twice) missed parcel - it was my diy mixing bowl/measuring spoons/mask brush/mixing stick set - not bad for all of 99p! Just need something to mix up in it now Grin

lucysmam · 27/06/2015 09:24

oh, and Frugal, I have started a thread about nose.fr if you'd have a look Smile

FallenAngel22 · 27/06/2015 09:54

I think I need to stop trialling so many things at once as my face is a bit sore today. I used an its skin msg get mask the other night and have loads of spots now. Plus it was really sticky even after i patted it in.

I did get another parcel today though! A sleeping mask from étude house that's in a spoon!

Can I ask, why do a lot of the products leave a tacky feeling to the skin? I really don't like it much. I do love my Mizon Aqua cell cream and banila co zero cleansing balm though!

bigbuttons · 27/06/2015 10:03

lucy this is there one I make. It's a recipe from the wonderful EDS forum. I do use the Dimethyl Isosorbide but it would work fine without it., this is much easier and quicker to make than the c serum. The glucosamine works very well with the B3 and really ramps up the effectiveness.
You can buy the b3 pretty much anywhere. I got my glucosamine from active formulas and the Dimethyl Isosorbide from ebay.

G & N Serum 1oz/30ml

5 tsp. Distilled water
3 ml Dimethyl Isosorbide(for penetration (10%)
½ tsp. Glucosamine (5%)
¼ tsp. Niacinamide(b3) (2.5%)
1 tsp. Glycerin

Product details

Solubility: water

Suggested percentage:4% to 5% (4% Glucosamine with 2% Niacinamide)
Storage: Cool, dry place. Do not freeze. Keep away from light and moisture!

ScrambledSmegs · 27/06/2015 10:38

Hi mulberrybag, I bought the Innisfree Lucky bag mask offer from Innisfreeworld here. I got an offer on the postage costs when I signed up to the website, and some more money off because it was my first purchase, but I really got stung by customs charges. So the 'saving' wasn't worth it at all! However it is a lovely selection of masks and I bought the Super Volcanic Jeju clay mask too.

Next time I would order a selection of masks from eBay sellers, to stay under the £15 limit (and also some sellers mark parcels as 'low value gift' for everything).

ScrambledSmegs · 27/06/2015 10:40

Ooh, spoon mask! I love those, they look so cute. Which one did you get, Fallen?

I've been using the homemade 5% Vitamin C serum every morning now, but I'm not sure it's making much difference. Is this the stage where I'm getting my skin used to it, and I'll see more of an effect as I up the percentage?
