I admired a colleague's shoes today

She's very well turned out, the last pair of shoes I admired turned out to be Jimmy Choo.

These however, were some her mother had passed on after deciding they were too racy for her and were from Hotter Shoe Company

They're a bit different, but quite wearable (IMO) and apparently very comfortable. The aqua colour would be perfect to go with a wedding outfit I have.

So, are they good or was my opinion formed by the expectation that they'd be a fancy designer brand?

Please try and advise, not from a high fashion perspective but as a middle aged woman not prepared to wear uncomfortable shoes all day for anyone/anything Grin

I'm really sorry but they look like pantomime dame shoes (imvho). Then again, nobody ever likes the shoes I like, so what do I know?!

ggirl · 01/06/2015 19:38

wow who'd have thought ..hotter?! I like them a lot..I am not known for my high fashion though...they look comfy

ggirl · 01/06/2015 19:39

definitely requires simple outfit I think

MamaLazarou · 01/06/2015 19:39

I really like them.

guineawigs · 01/06/2015 19:39

Oh. How old is her mother 90?

thetroubleis · 01/06/2015 19:39

I like those, like a more toned down version of irregular choice.

guineawigs · 01/06/2015 19:40

God they're coming up as a targetted ad on the side of the screen now. Make it stop! They truly are fugly.

OverAndAbove · 01/06/2015 19:40

My MIL wears those! I'm all for a round toe, which can be really flattering, but these look quite frumpy IMO. I suppose the suede ones are a bit better than the normal leather but I'd prefer to look at eg some T-bars from Clarks if you need comfort

whysorude · 01/06/2015 19:41

Don't know the brand but they look lovely.

Am also a middle aged woman and live in flats as I sound like, and walk, an elephant when wearing heels. Grin

TheWintersmith · 01/06/2015 19:41

ROFL @ pantomime Dame ( oh no they're not)

FannyFernackapan · 01/06/2015 19:41

There ain't nothing like a Dame ...

Hmm. I'm not sure. In black they're OK. I wouldn't buy them

CaTsMaMmA · 01/06/2015 19:41

They look comfy ....never was a more damning phrases uttered!

I don't care for the ruched bit at the front. And how do Hotter get away with being so expensive?

whysorude · 01/06/2015 19:42

< Feck me, just realised I'm middle aged Sad>

Dognado · 01/06/2015 19:42

In pink, Dolores Umbridge Smile

OverAndAbove · 01/06/2015 19:42

Oh god, they're now on my ads too. It's like scrolling through the old dear's wardrobe, bless her!

OverAndAbove · 01/06/2015 19:43

They look comfy

Needs to be said Victoria Wood-style....

Wendied · 01/06/2015 19:44

Mary Poppins had a very similar pair.

If you like Irregular Choice then you'll probably like these.

guineawigs · 01/06/2015 19:45

Yes wendied! They are Mary Poppins shoes!

ggirl · 01/06/2015 19:45

lol I am embracing my 'they look comfy' phase of my life

Twinklestein · 01/06/2015 19:48

Quite ghastly. And they don't even look comfortable.

museumum · 01/06/2015 19:48

I quite links them in the Aqua suede but they're awful in the other colours - odd really that the same shoe can be so awful in the leather.

InstitutionCode · 01/06/2015 19:49

I like the two suede colours - colleague has pink. I don't like them at all in the leather. The gold is something to behold Grin

Minging, sorry, truly ugly shoes

Haggisfish · 01/06/2015 19:50

I like them in aqua!

DinosaursRoar · 01/06/2015 19:50

Hotter were the shoe brand of choice when my Nan was in a care home.

sorry, they are shoes designed for the more mature lady who requires comfort and support - I'm pretty sure the older ladies at our church on Sunday would wear them as their sunday best shoes. (the ladies who still wear long pleated skirts in bright patterns with smart jackets with a family heirloom brooch pinned on it, teamed with solid hair).
