I admired a colleague's shoes today

She's very well turned out, the last pair of shoes I admired turned out to be Jimmy Choo.

These however, were some her mother had passed on after deciding they were too racy for her and were from Hotter Shoe Company

They're a bit different, but quite wearable (IMO) and apparently very comfortable. The aqua colour would be perfect to go with a wedding outfit I have.

So, are they good or was my opinion formed by the expectation that they'd be a fancy designer brand?

Please try and advise, not from a high fashion perspective but as a middle aged woman not prepared to wear uncomfortable shoes all day for anyone/anything Grin

I love them.
I wish they were cheaper

aoife24 · 02/06/2015 15:10

I like them, they have a 1940's look to them, worn with the right dress or skirt they'd be great.

Lottapianos · 02/06/2015 15:21

I love them. I don't do heels but I think I could manage them. They're very elegant and 1920s.

AlphaBravoHenryFoxtons · 02/06/2015 15:21

Be careful in those shoes: if you click your heels three times you'll likely end up in Kansas.

I think they are ugly.

Lottapianos · 02/06/2015 15:25

I think the moral of this thread is - wear what you damn well please Smile There will always be someone who thinks you look fab, probably someone who thinks your shoes are fugly and absolutely loads more who couldn't give a fig.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/06/2015 15:27

I love themGrin they are very similar to a pair I wore in the 80's which I wore until they fell to bits.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 02/06/2015 15:28

Lotta - yes, they remind me of 1920's too.

I have Hotter ballerina pumps and they are so comfy! The brand is definitely top quality that's for sure. I like those in the pic too though they wouldn't be suitable for me

MargolottaOfUberwold · 02/06/2015 17:05

I love hotter shoes!

Some are truly horrific, but other styles I have in 2 or 3 colours and adore them, so comfy, but still look pretty!

polyhymnia · 02/06/2015 18:10

I absolutely loathe Hotter shoes I'm afraid and those are no exception. The irony is that once when I decided to get some of their sandals for a holiday involving lots of walking not only did I feel they looked frumpy, they also ripped my feet to pieces. The only beneficiary ( apart from Hotter) was a French pharmacie for industrial type plasters!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/06/2015 19:57

I've just looked at the entire website in horrified fascination, and found a grand total of one pair of shoes that I 'might' be willing to be seen in. They are still not great though

These boots look okay

shadowfax07 · 02/06/2015 20:26

DameDiaz, I think I must have had the same pair as you in the 80's - that was my first thought!

GatoradeMeBitch · 02/06/2015 21:36

I like them! They do look like something a funky governess would wear. Now I need to decide whether or not I can carry off funky governess...

Preminstreltension · 02/06/2015 21:48

I saw these in the Hotter brochure that fell out of the back of the Sunday supplements at the weekend. Before I could stop myself I liked them. I'll be buying one of those awnings that ex copper used to advertise next.

FatAli · 02/06/2015 21:51

God they're fugly!

Whippet81 · 03/06/2015 06:27

I love them!

Grumpyoldbiddy · 03/06/2015 06:43

No, I like irregular choice. I don't like these Confused

Becles · 03/06/2015 06:57

I have a love hate relationship with Hotter. Some things are definitely grim and others amazing.

They're wedges can be really stylish and funky, but it's a bit of a lottery.

Apropos of bugger all, dh saw the Hotter shop and thought is was an Anne Summers type place.
I quite like them, it's a good height heel and have got that 40s thing going on. But what do I know? The woman who wears Birkenstock lace ups to school. (Much to the kids hilarity)

Babymamamama · 03/06/2015 07:22

My granny wears this brand. Only reason I've heard of it. She got my mum into the brand too. But actually I quite like the shoe. No doubt they should be super comfy. Older people never mess around with uncomfy shoes. I'm going to try take a leaf out of their book.

BeaufortBelle · 03/06/2015 07:22

I don't understand the obsession with Birkenstock, Crocs and Uggs alongside the revulsion for things like Hotter. I'd never wear the first three because they are ugly and inelegant and unbelievably expensive for horrid things yet everyone else seems to think they are must haves. The Hotter shoe in question to me has ten times more style and originality and is probably much more comfortable and less likely to harm your feet.

I tried some Birkenstocks once at the height of their popularity and have never worn anything so uncomfortable in my entire life.
