On the look out for some shoes for casual. What would you suggest? Converse really hurt my feet.

What about these
www.independent.co.uk/extras/indybest/fashion-beauty/12-best-slipon-trainers-10136816.html

Or espadrilles?

WipsGlitter · 30/05/2015 08:26

There were some nice Tori Burch ones on secret sales this week.

Whathaveilost · 30/05/2015 08:37

Wips I quite like the sandals but they wouldn't workfor me on a day to day basis.

My colleague has those brogues! The wouldn't suit me at all and I would need a new wardrobe to go with them but they look nice on her. That said mt colleague doesn't do casual and would be horrified at he suggestion of Scarpa or Original Tiger!

Whathaveilost · 30/05/2015 08:38

Auto correct madness! Meant Onitsuka Tiger not Original Tiger!

hairhelpplease · 30/05/2015 08:44

I am in town now so will definitely visit schu later. Thanks.

I like the Josef Seibel range of shoes. Very comfortable.

ChilliMum · 30/05/2015 08:53

Have you tried art shoes I have flats and heels and they are amazingly comfortable.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 30/05/2015 09:01

Many apologies for bringing frump to the S&B boards. Again. Grin

I was focussing on the 'comfort' element - I walk 20+ miles a week on the school run alone, and it's hard to find something you can walk that far in that doesn't look odd with a skirt.

Obviously I wouldn't wear the decathlon shoes with my bootcut jeans - I would wear something much trendier like these

WipsGlitter · 30/05/2015 09:06

Of course is conform or mobility is an issue then go with what's right for you. I like the merrels but they are maybe a bit heavy for summer.

I think converse can look good with a skirt.

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 30/05/2015 09:13

Funnily enough, was wearing converse with a skirt yesterday, but I always feel it's a bit too young a look for me.... that's the kind of thinking that lands you in summer-mum-boot-frump-hell though isn't it?! Wink

dollybird · 30/05/2015 10:06

I have a pair of these, they look great with skinny jeans. Comfy, although not sure you'd want to walk miles in them and they look best without socks www.freemans.com/products/city-walk-lace-up-pumps/_/A-474187_7.5

MamaLazarou · 30/05/2015 10:11

A second vote for Josef Seibel here. I have a joint condition so live in flats and can walk the four miles a day to work and back with no problems. I'm delighted to have discovered them.

I don't get the Toms love. They just look like cheap espadrilles.

mrsmugoo · 30/05/2015 10:12

Slip on Vans?

UmiSays · 30/05/2015 11:46

Watching with interest. I live in Converse for casual, but LOVE summer because I can wear sandals. Would be nice to have Cinverse akternatives for cooler weather, though.

My problem is that I cant wear any slip-on shoes at all - ballet flats, loafers, even normal pumps/court shoes/heels. They slide off my ridiculously highly arched feet. So need some sort of strap.

If anyone has any good reccs for casual, non-trainer type shoes with a strap, bring it on! Grin

goodnessgraciousgouda · 30/05/2015 12:02

OP it depends on how casual you mean. I used to have a pair of fit flops, and they were ridiculously comfortable, not frumpy, and basically just look like normal flip flops. Great for the summer, but not really work appropriate. They last well too.

Rivieras are nice for the summer and pretty cool these days, a nice change from Toms etc

I wear camper peu and vivobarefoot. Prefer the look of converse but they just don't work for me, way too pointy and narrow fitting. They've been mentioned upthread but have been considering some palladium flex too.

Whathaveilost · 30/05/2015 20:51

I have been wearing Converse since I was 14 - I am 50 now. I only stopped wearing them last year because I needed something new. I had always found them really comfortable, well that or I had over35 years to get used to them!

Haahoooo · 30/05/2015 20:58

I recently bought the Dune Goosie pink loafers - soo comfortable!

Elfontheedge · 30/05/2015 21:22

I've just got some Rocketdog jazzin trainers. Great for my stupid wide feet. Nice and round and available in loads of different designs!

umiaisha · 30/05/2015 21:56

I am obsessed with these at the moment. So comfy and pretty!

Saurus72 · 30/05/2015 22:10

umiaisha I love the look of those sandals too, but am nit sure about ordering as I can't wear sling backs usually cpbecause the strap just slips down the back of my ankle. Did you buy your usual size/size down? Does the strap slip down on you? They are absolutely lovely and not too expensive either.

yazzy85 · 30/05/2015 22:24

Superga come in lots of colours and are much more comfortable than converse for me

Imnotweirdimlimitededition1 · 30/05/2015 22:30

Nylon toms- comfy & on trend- great with cuffed jeans. I Bought fit flop ballerinas but not as comfy as I hoped, def need to size up IMO
