On the look out for some shoes for casual. What would you suggest? Converse really hurt my feet.

Saurus - slingbacks drive me mad in the normal way but these are quite rigid so stay put. I am a 4 and bought a 37 which were quite tight across the toes at the start but quickly loosened up. Worth every penny!

I have the tan and multi glitter - very tempted by the the neon/gold ones now..

dontcallmelen · 30/05/2015 23:55

SaurusI have those as well, found the slingback stays put to, wouldnt size up as, the leather is soft & does give, great colours & very comfy pretty stylish to, for flats.

Saurus72 · 30/05/2015 23:58

Thanks both, think I will have to order - perfect for holidays. And yes, the neon and gold ones are beautiful...

AmelieinOz · 31/05/2015 02:45

I thought I was the only one who finds Converse painful!

Chicinwellies · 31/05/2015 07:56

Supegra- on The White Company. Amazing, last forever, comfy, my husband now has a gunmetal grey pair - I have the jute and white pairs - fab, and 20% off with free delivery at mo.

Indecisivejo · 31/05/2015 08:56

Flossys, flossys, flossys!!!! Seriously like wearing slippers and light as air! Come in lots of colours and smell like grape bubblegum inside!

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 10:07

christ alive

she just said that converse hurt her feet not that she is 70 with bunions

GRIM LINKS guys.

do you want casual or smarter? covered or not?

TSSDNCOP · 31/05/2015 10:45

I bought converse lookalikes in Sainsbury last week. Cost a tender and much more comfy. I too find converse too flat and they still rub a year in Angry. I also bought Dune loafers in their 20% promo: comfy and non-fugly in the light grey.

Pikkewyn · 31/05/2015 10:56

I am huge RocketDog fan, I can't wear converse as I have wide feet with a high instep. not everyone's cup of tea but I love them.

noddyholder · 31/05/2015 11:31

Trainers, sandals if warm enough I like single strap birkenstocks for just running about day to day. i also have bensimmon plimsolls grey ones and white and they go with most things If its wet I wear ankle boots

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 31/05/2015 13:01

I think the OP may have left to sort out her own shoes, DosDuchas - you can help me if you like? Grin

Only two criteria;

  1. something that will work with a summer dress (so my DMs won't cut it),

2)need to be able to walk 5+ miles a day in them (my Converse won't work - soles too thin and you get sore knees/back after a couple of weeks)

NameChange30 · 31/05/2015 13:05

You could get insoles for your Converse. I wear gel inserts for my heel which make them much more supportive and comfortable.

In cool weather, ankle boots with a small heel (I have a great pair from Clarks).

In warm weather, Birkenstocks. Soooo comfy Smile

IsabellaofFrance · 31/05/2015 13:14

I used to be massively into converse, and do think they last ages, but agree they would be fine for ages and then start rubbing and being uncomfortable.

I have some Cath Kidson pumps I got in the sale which are really comfy. Also, as PP suggested, Rocket Dog are great.

Some of the links on this thread are really ghastly though.

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 13:35

whats your style Boul?

BoulevardOfBrokenSleep · 31/05/2015 17:12

SAHM so casual in general; summer dresses will be generally print and above knee; I am tall and chunky so look like manoeuvring tanker in maxi.

Have tried gel comfort insoles in Converse, they extend the range before pain a bit, it's true.

Am tempted by Birkenstocks I must admit, but such 'style' as I have leans towards 'ageing hippy' if not kept in check, am worried they might look I put them on in the 70s and forgot to take them off....

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 18:48

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 18:50

ah, they are silver, prolly not best colour

squizita · 31/05/2015 18:51

Dr Martens now have a huge range with their comfy soles but more varied uppers ... sandals, Mary Jane, floral and bright. I have several from killer heels to work flats to traditional boots.

They're pricy but complete life proof.

squizita · 31/05/2015 18:52

Oh and puma or Adidas trainers are great converse alternatives.

noddyholder · 31/05/2015 18:55

www.bershka.com/gb/en/woman/bershka/shoes-c1368712p5606005.html these are lovely I tried and didn't by and now don't have my size but they were very comfy and did look nice

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 18:57

love those too

when I didn't work I just wore flip flops all the time

noddyholder · 31/05/2015 18:59

The thing with lovely sandals is they can never trump a decent pair of flip flops not sure why but they do tend to win out lots of the time Havaiannas a re lovely as there are so many choices and don't hurt

DosDuchas · 31/05/2015 19:03

so so true

squiz81 · 31/05/2015 19:50

What about a moccasin / loafer type shoe instead of a ballet flat?
