I asked for something different that would suit me and this is what I now have.

Can anyone who had this hairstyle 20 years ago give me an idea as to how long it will take to grow out?

Also, fuck my life Sad

Can you afford to go to another salon and have them glue a young Russian's hair to your head?

Failing that, I don't think it's that bad. It won't be long until you can get it cut to a one length bob, which tends to look quite nice curly (assuming you go into neat curls, not frizz).

You can probably pin that back already, even if you can't put it in a bobble yet.

tethersend · 27/05/2015 18:04

If you let it go curly, wouldn't it look all lovely like this?

It's not that bad! It's just been styled a bit bouffanty which is what hairdressers seem to love doing.

Hassled · 27/05/2015 18:06

I love how you've scribbled out your face but left one eye exposed :o.
I don't think it looks bad at all. JA in the 90s was hot, remember.

DinosaursRoar · 27/05/2015 18:06

BTW - I read an interview with Jennifer Anniston recently, she hated "the Rachel" cut - she didn't think it suited her and hated the amount of effort it took.

SwedishEdith · 27/05/2015 18:09

You could change it/style it to something like this. I think?

passthewineplz · 27/05/2015 18:10

It's not that bad, a bit dated though. I'd have it cut either into a bob or so it's pretty much one length and dry it curly

None of it is long enough to do that, tethers.

The shortest layers hit the back of my skull, just.

failing all that, you could pick one of these up

DinosaursRoar · 27/05/2015 18:12

or this would be a conversation starter at the school gate.

chibi · 27/05/2015 18:14

I just look like such a twat

I look like someone's frumpy mum trying to look with it

Which I guess I what the hairdresser saw when he looked at me

Sad

X posted- having seen the photo, I think you should definitely let it go curly.
Something like this or this.

I think it's lovely. And it's only a bit Rachel. I thought it was going to be longer and wispier.

BlueEyedWonder · 27/05/2015 18:16

I accidentally ended up with a similar look whilst growing out a short cut. I've just had the bottom few inches chopped off so it's now a bob shape. I'm much happier with it!

I am now toying with the idea of chopping off the wispy bits to get it into a bob

However if that gets fucked up, the next step is. A razor

Ive also read somewhere that even JA hated the rachel cut. However I don't think its all that bad on you. The short layers will grow down quickly.

GooodMythicalMorning · 27/05/2015 18:19

I like it. Its pretty

passthewineplz · 27/05/2015 18:20

I agree with tether, have it in more of a gradual bob shape and dry it curly, then straighten your fringe a bit so it's not as curly as the rest. Mine took about 9 months from a gradual Bob to be able to tie up.

NoelHeadbands · 27/05/2015 18:20

I don't think it's that bad really!

As a teen I went for a bit of a trim at the salon my friend once used. When she'd finished, another customer (pensioner, the clientele should have given me a clue) said 'ooh very nice, you look like that young...

Wash it and try doing it yourself before you go near scissors! It is shorter than I expected, the curls might look ok, give it a try

Petal02 · 27/05/2015 18:26

Chibi, that doesn't look anything like as bad as you'd described it! I'm growing out a short style and my current stage is not dissimilar to your picture, but I often pin up the sides, it seems quite on-trend to use grips/slides etc at the moment. And don't forget that the whole style will soften as the weeks go on; you may feel very different about it in a month's time.

burnishedsilver · 27/05/2015 19:25

Actually, I dont think its that bad. I think you should leave as is and let it grow a little. Alternatively, it wouldnt take much to turn it into this.

According to Google Images, this is Westminster Bob.
