Feeling quite aggressive about ageing

FluffyCubs · 25/05/2015 19:43

So

Got a face fulla fillers but I just need radical.
I'm saving for a facelift
And bought a dermastamp
And am now considering ingesting untested c60 to combat ageing, even joined a bit of a cranky forum (longecity)

Anybody else being quite obsessed and stepping beyond creams etc?

If no one did it we would all just be at the mercy of our genes and confidence which wouldn't be a bad thing but the box is open now and it is up to the individual whether they partake

For women of a certain age there is also the feeling that they have simply disappeared as for as others are concerned. You become invisible. When you are younger you are visible, in you late 40's I think you can start to disappear and that is a horrible feeling. I can quite understand why women have surgery and botox. I haven't got the money, sadly there are many things i now hate about my appearance that no amount of facial care will alter, only a surgeons knife would do that. My job is to try and make peace with myself, as I am.

suzannecanthecan · 28/05/2015 16:25

the tiring hamster wheel of botox and filler upkeep

ok, but we are talking about for botox a half hour appointment every 4 - 5 months, and fillers, well I think that's at most once every 8 months (?) and probably the same amount of time. If you had both then you would presumably have them done at the same appointment.

This is not a punishing exercise regime, or a restrictive diet, it's not surgery, no risk of general anesthetic.
A few generations ago it would have been par for the course for older people to have lost some teeth and possibly have sunken faces because of it, no one accuses those who invest time and money into holding onto all their teeth of raising the bar and putting everyone under pressure to have youthful teeth.

CrystalMcPistol · 28/05/2015 16:33

I didn't mean physically tiring. But yes, it's only a half hour injection every 6 months but if you start at age 45 that's a heck of a lot of 6 month appointments stretching out into the future. I meant tiring as in once you're on that wheel it must be hard to hop off, people will wonder why you've aged so quickly.

suzannecanthecan · 28/05/2015 16:43

if you stop the effects will wear off gradually so that over a period of several months lines will start to slowly form again.
There will be no overnight damsel to crone revelation

I don't criticise women who have work done. Your body, your face.

I do get exasperated with celebs who insist their smooth, pert faces are all down to good genes, inner peace and a dab of Astral.

I do get ranty about a society that makes women past their 40s feel useless and invisible.

I am vitriolic about an industry that has grown fabulously rich through feeding off our insecurities. I also include those marketing miracle creams, serums and associated snake oil.

I despair that once you're over 45, the phrases 'looking good' and 'looking young' are so totally conflated that I don't even have the vocabulary to say the other things I'd like to say.

I was feeling really super bloody miserable last week, sorry for my daft post.....have to say though......I was unexpectedly prescribed glasses a couple days later and realised they might be doing me a favor, in terms of disguising eye bags AND understanding that even I, cannot control my ageing bod.

Eyes1981, you had it spot on......but also, I understand the vitriol, it's just bloody cheating, isn't it! But I'm going to!

Fluffy it's no more or less cheating that hair dye, make-up, whitening toothpaste, teeth straightening/veneers/whitening etc, removing body hair.........

Dowser · 01/06/2015 23:42

I only started to get a little bit of grey hair when I was 60. I have blonde highlights as I still have a lot of brown hair 3.5 years later.

Grey is a bit more obvious now, even though it blends in well with the blonde but I don't think it's too bad for a 63 and a half year old.

I just wish it was thicker. Still surprisingly I've managed to grow it and it gets a trim every two months.

I've had nothing done. I was blessed with nice straight even teeth which I bleach from time to time. Skin is showing signs of ageing but I couldn't get Botox or fillers in my face. It's just not me.

I eat very healthily. Recently cut out most sugar. I figured it's no good piling all sorts onto your face while stuffing my insides with sugary snacks.

I also take supplements and juice my own veg.

I can only do so much, mother nature can't be held back I definitely. I've had a good run for my money ;-)

Did Lulu ever admit to having anything do. She looks weirdly youthful and is o.der than I am?

Dowser · 01/06/2015 23:50

Older even

FluffyCubs · 02/06/2015 06:41

Downer, that's pretty amazing.......I'm the only one of my friends without any Greys.....apparently you can reverse greying, in fact, I pulled out a white hair once only to find it Had returned to brown at the root but never knew how that happened.

One thing I hate is cheek injections/fillers

I have naturallyprominent cheekbones and have been asked a few times if they are real. For some reason that pisses me off.

Same as everyone assumes I dye my hair when I don't.

The few natural advantages I have are taken away from me Grin this way, it feels

AgathaF · 03/06/2015 07:29

Love a good stealth boast Grin.

BabyGanoush · 03/06/2015 11:39

Yeah. It's all I have. The rest of me is crap Grin

Scraping the barrel? Moi?! Sad

^^ Floisme, you have said what I think so eloquently. I am tempted to print your post and stick it on my office wall!
