I've tried the SR Juno and to be honest I prefer the Decleor oils, cheaper too.

Tulipbell I think the Clearasil are 2% which is the tops for a daily salicylic acid but maybe not the best formulation. If you want to go higher I'm going to be all predictable and recommend Paula's Choice 2% BHA.

If you want to do something stronger once a week go for a SR Skincare peel.

I found Effaclar Duo quite moisturising in itself so didn't use a moisturiser with it but know other people have found it more drying.

Of your serum choices, Hylamide is in a whole different league to the Aldi - Aldi you are just getting some hyaluronic, Hylamide is far more sophisticated with a range of peptides as well to do some anti-ageing work. BS Serum in Oil is effectively doing something utterly different - a load of different oils so more of an emollient/moisturiser.

MsBojangles, brilliant, so glad you like it!
Eek to doggy and cardamom pods, I crunched one by accident on Friday- thankfully without the same effect!

bigbuttons · 31/05/2015 22:17

Gertie no oil is worth that much!

Thanks bigbuttons Grin It's a really popular product but I just don't get it - it's just some oil Confused Where's the magic?

it's interesting. I love oils, I have LOADS of them. I have loads of essential oils too. When someone raves about an oil that costs squillions I look at the ingredients, look at the oils used then try and replicate it.
I don't know exact proportions but can have a good guess looking at the ingredients list.
I tried out the Neals yard much reviewed Argan and Frankincense oils last week. Like most Neals yard stuff, it's nothing special for a HUGE price. Both of those oils did much less for me than my own connections would at home.
Just checked out the Sunday Riley oil ingredient list. It's mostly just a load of fancy essential oils. They are NOT expensive to buy, there is no Jasmine for example, now that is costly. You could get the whole lot from different shops on eBay for a fraction of the cost, honestly. It's a HUGE HUGE con. Charge masses of money therefore it MUST be worth it eh?
It's not.
As you were!

My reflexologist told me that too Big, she was complaining specifically about the Decleor oils which aren't even a massive blend of different ones. Said they are a complete rip off.

I know I could replicate at home, I'd be concerned about the proportions I suppose. (If you manage to replicate my beloved Frankincense though, send me the recipe! Grin)

Anyone using the Soap and Glory Ultimelt cleanser or Clarins Exfoliating toner? I added these two into my skincare the past few days and have a big spot on my chin and cheek, not sure what is the cause...

Thanks Back2Two, maybe its not ultimelt, could be something else

UntamedShrew · 02/06/2015 11:37

I had a sample of Luna recently, enough for 3-4 nights worth and I was so excited about trying it. But I was really unimpressed. I love a facial oil (I like the Frankincense one as I'm too lazy to make my own) but this was really nothing special. The blue thing is just weird, I did think I looked a bit of a funny colour for a while :)

UntamedShrew · 02/06/2015 11:56

Was thinking I would share what I'm enjoying out of all the new products I bought as a result of this thread - would love to hear how everyone else is getting on with theirs too. It's been about a month I think so frankly we should all be looking amazing by now, right?

Here is how my haul (gosh seeing it all written down is quite shocking Blush ) is working out

Will definitely re-purchase:

  • Hylamide serum (love this)
  • Skinceuticals retinols (I'm currently using 0.5% and impatient to get onto 1%)
  • Vichy Aqualia moisturiser (excellent for my parched skin and good value e.g. it is cheaper and better IMO than the comparable Clarins Hydraquench cream)
  • LRP Helios SPF 50+ gel (although it does make me a bit shiny :) )

Jury's out / undecided:

  • LRP physiological cleanser (just the same as any other cream cleanser. I use Emma Hardie at night and might just start using that in morning too).
  • Cerave moisturiser (it's OK but I think it need the richness of the Vichy one. I save this for if my skin is sensitised by acid toning or sweaty yoga).
  • Clinique moisture-surge spray (quite nice product but I'm not convinced that adding this extra step makes a big difference. I see more of a result from adding in a few drops of a facial oil instead of this spritz).

Not for me:

  • FAB acid tone pads - I so wanted to love these but my skin just seems so dry on the days I've used them. The only acid tone I seem to get on with is the Clarins gentle exfoliating toner. Anyone know any others for dry skin?
Itsalldramarama · 02/06/2015 12:33

I have found the dragons blood nip and fab quite soothing compared to the glyclolic ones . Use both alternative days :)

Itsalldramarama · 02/06/2015 12:46

I am very pleased with the results ive seen the last month
Currently using
Cetaphil cleanser/ boots botanics
Nip and fab glyclolic/dragons blood
Loreal revitalist repair 10 serum/balance youth serum (hydraulic )
Nivea/youth code/loreal moisturiser (any moisturiser to hand really !

Pm
Started with redermic R but now moved on to retinA every other night followed by lashings of Nivea blue pot ( think the redermic R helped my skin get accustomed to the retin a as no irritation or peeling :)
My skin has never looked better :)

DrankSangriaInThePark · 02/06/2015 12:55

Good idea Shrew! Maybe once a month we should all have a bit of a review, I must admit, I need to sit down and go back through the threads and re-do my wishlist, especially as I am also following Frugal's fantastic Korean thread too!

Here are the results from the Southern Italian jury Grin

Acid Toner- Olay cheap as chips 7 in 1 anti ageing. Has probably made the most difference to my skin of all the products. Love it. Am so carried away at how my skin seems somehow resurfaced that I am tempted to buy a posher more expensive one, but then think, why fix what isn't broken? I'll see....

Hydrating Toner- L'Occitane Immortelle Water. Got free sample in gift set. It's lovely. But I'd never pay that much for a toner. Will prob get rosewater next from supermarket. I used to use that.

Cleansers- LRP Physiological- bought this for dd on the back of Effaclar being so fab for her. It's boring. It's a bit meh. It's fine for dd's pre-teen face, but I won't use it again.
Elemis Pro Radiance neroli and bergamot. So bloody lovely. Thick creamy and smells divine. Will definitely repurchase but not at full price. Prob when QVC do their specials and then flog the Marine Cream on ebay as that does diddley for me.
Liz Earle CP, used to love it, no longer impressed. Won't buy again.
Boots Botanics balm- hated it at first because it was crunchy (it had crystallised) it's now my favourite, and the cheapest of all of them. Will definitely repurchase.

(I have almost finished the Botanics so am going to get a new balm cleanser, prob going to try the BS Chamomile)

Serums- Good old Boots Lift and Luminate. Day and night. Like them both, although I reckon the original Protect and Perfect is better. Very silicon-y though. Would repurchase for results and price.
NY Frankincense Intense. My biggest disappointment ever. Horrid horrid stuff. Still have 4 packets of it left. Cannot stand what it does to my face. Feel like someone has spread glue on it. Yuck.

(am going to go for a Vit C/hylamide type next, probably from ebay, possibly Korean- I am eyeing up the one which is supposed to replicate EL Advanced Night Repair.)

Moisturiser- L'Oreal anti wrinkle something or other. Another cheap as chips purchase. It's pretty good for the fiver I spent on it. Certainly better than Marine Cream which just pulled my skin off and felt like watery lotion.

Good old Astral on the neck and on the face when I feel particularly dry. Will always have a ginormous pot of it in the house. Always.

NY Rose Facial Oil- it's OK, but the NY Frankincense is better, richer for my ancient skin I feel. Will rebuy the Frank.

I started with RetinA but my skin broke out so I stopped.

Overall results: I am 50 in October and I know I don't look it. I am wearing only Boots botanics BB cream as foundation and no primer anymore. I feel my skin is now looking "my skin but better".

Term is finishing here, so will have lots more time to try out these fancy Korean masks and what have you, so will report back on those too.

Thanks again to everyone contributing to the quiche, am loving it! Flowers
