Had my first " your skin looks amazing" comment-- THANK YOU Caroline Hirons!

A colleague said this at work today, I was so chuffed.
I'm 47 and was looking not so good. This last month I have invested in serums, acids and what not have gone back to Caroline Hirons properly this time. I have been religiously cleaning and tending to my face AM and PM. I use a 30% glycol peel every couple of weeks and use tretinoin every 3 days.
I must say even I have noticed a difference, it has knocked years off me.
All blemishes gone, skin is ultra smooth, wrinkles reduced.
There is hope for us more (ahem) mature ladies!

Oh no Kew, I would have totally gone mad on there too, probably best I missed that! I had never heard of Madara, then I got a trial sachet of the Sunflower Golden Beige Tinting Fluid and was amazed! I looked like I had been on a lovely sunny holiday somewhere and it hid all my wrinkes and didn't collect in my frown lines.

FrugalFashionista · 29/04/2015 17:15

I've been meaning to give Mádara a try, lots of friends back home love it, and Estelle & Thild too, so when you have tested some, please tell me more.

Plum I had a hard time focusing on work too Wink The user reviews on sephora.com are better than any beauty blog, and you can filter by skin type / coloring etc. They really helped me to narrow down the choices!

dranksangria that's a brilliant idea. It's pity we can't have a signature, or perhaps we could make the list post and then copy and paste periodically to a new post with any amendments? I will give it a go.
right will go and think of a catchy new thread title!

here..

I am white, 47, normal skin but can get eczema on face when stressed. have a few lines round the old eyes and on forehead.
I use and currently love:
cleansing: oil cleansing mix ( home made), lush ultra bland dupe ( home made) merumaya cleanser.
Bravura clay cleanser ( has glycolic in it, it's brilliant)

Acid tone: Bravura ginseng toner and calendula toner, nip and fab glycolic pads, clearasil salicylic pads.
moisturising tone. Home made toner using aloe vera, HA, rose water, witch hazel and glycerine.
Serums: Home made vit C, vit E ferulic HA
Body shop vit c toner ( more silky, but less potent, but lovely feeling)
Home made NAG serum ( niacinamide and glutamine)
NOVOPEEL coq10, ha, dmae, collage, elk peptide,pearl, vits b3, b5, c and e
Hylamide sub q anti-age.
I rotate all these serums.

I make my own face oil mix and add essential oils to these.
I use EMU and TAMANU oil both of which are brilliant for dryness, spots, eczema, scarring. I would never be without either oil.

I use retin A 0.1% buffered with emu oil every other night
I use Bravura 15% glycolic moisturiser on the nights I don't use the retina.
I have liquid gold but didn't notice any difference using it. I am on the look out for more cleansers, to ring the changes.
When my skin isn't sensitive I do GA peel, but i use so many GA products during the week that I don't feel my skin can take a peel at the moment.

I'm delurking...

you'll have to call me kew2

Kewcumber · 29/04/2015 18:16

I've just turned 50 - always had pretty good skin no matter how badly I treated it but have had terrible spots this year which I assume is hormone related (given my age)

Since reading this thread I have:

Cleansed my face twice a day with Liz Earle C&P (suits my skin well - I don;t find the superdrugs versions as good but do use them when I'm skint) and occasionally double cleanse.
I'm thinking of buying the tester kit of Emma Hardy from M&S to try her meringa balm.

I'm using the Aldi anti-aging serum which I like and liz Earle moisturiser for dry skin. I tried the Aldi anti aging creams (day and night but they're just too greasy and perfumed for me) I like Elemis pro marine too but too expensive

I'm looking for an alternative to the LE or Elemis moisturiser thats cheaper.

I'm very tempted by some of the Bravura stuff.

Today on the back of this thread I bought Nip and Fab pads (not tried yet) and the Nip and fab glycolic mask which I tried this afternoon. My face is still a little tingly after it (2 hours later!) but no sign of redness and my skin does feel very very smooth.

I have been known to make my own yoghurt mask so can be bit lentil weavery when I put my mind to it.

Overall my skin looks generally perkier and fresher and no spot break outs (yet)

Can you still get anne french milk? I used to love that

Kundry · 29/04/2015 19:27

plumstone if I was going to the states I'd come back with a bag full of Cerave as it's a readily available drugstore product there and only available from Amazon/eBay here.

I love it so much I'm not sure I'll ever try another moisturiser.

VeryStressedMum · 29/04/2015 19:32

Kundry why is cerave so good and what will it do for me if I buy it from amazon? hot and flashy uses it I noticed Grin

MerryKat · 29/04/2015 19:45

Aaagh! I've been off my antibiotics for 5 days and my face looks awful! I had one spot but it's turned huuuuge and red with a massive Lump!!! I also have two more coming up on my chin and one on my forehead! This is what happens every time I try to stop antibiotics :(
I've been washing my face gently morning and night with cetaphil. Was using aldi Lacura moisturiser but have just bought cetaphil and have just started retin a 00.25 once every few days will be my plan.
I thought if I brought things in slow I might get away with it but I'm looking pretty ropey!!! Not sure what to do for the best! Any advice please? I've tried epiduo before but it just burned my face and made my acne worse! Antibiotics seem to be the only thing working but I've been on them for over a year!
None on my neck yet but I fear it will not be long. Can't take pill due to dvt sadly

Cerave is oil-free so suits every sort of skin and packed full of ceramides and niacinamide - so lots of lovely moisturising ingredients that help restore your skin's barrier function, ideal if you are a Retin-A user, or have acne, or rosacea, or dry skin, or sensitive skin - frankly anything. It's also really hydrating as it has hyaluronic as well. In the US it seems to be the standard dermatologist recommendation, a bit like Cetaphil over here.

And it's not expensive esp not in the US unlike lots of ceramide products here Elizabeth Arden I mean you

yazzy85 · 29/04/2015 20:52

Kundry I bought the Cerave moisturiser off Amazon after you recommended it earlier and am really liking it as well. The texture is great, so lightweight and moisturising enough for my combination skin. It's a great find Smile

FrugalFashionista · 29/04/2015 21:06

More on dermatologist and Cetaphil. Also, perhaps Galderma have great product reps Wink

FrugalFashionista · 29/04/2015 21:07

Sorry, wrong thread, meant the new one.

I am really liking Cerave.

I have been counting down the days till pay day so I could join this thread. I'm waiting for a call from the bank to ask if there has been fraud on my account given how much I have just spent online.

I have dry, sensitive skin which can be prone to redness. I have gone for two acid toners, Body Shop camomile balm and Cetaphil for cleansing. Am going to try out a serum I saw on Amazon which has some really good reviews and have also bought a decent facial oil for evening. Thought I was finished emptying my bank account and then remembered I needed some face cloths. Oh dear.
