Had my first " your skin looks amazing" comment-- THANK YOU Caroline Hirons!

A colleague said this at work today, I was so chuffed.
I'm 47 and was looking not so good. This last month I have invested in serums, acids and what not have gone back to Caroline Hirons properly this time. I have been religiously cleaning and tending to my face AM and PM. I use a 30% glycol peel every couple of weeks and use tretinoin every 3 days.
I must say even I have noticed a difference, it has knocked years off me.
All blemishes gone, skin is ultra smooth, wrinkles reduced.
There is hope for us more (ahem) mature ladies!

VeryStressed yes just dab it all over (avoid eye area). There are two schools of thought on moisturiser on top but I know I need something - I'm now using a light hydrating one (CH's advice!). Would recommend the hot and flashy retinol video that someone (buttons?) linked to up thread, she talks about why you wait after washing your face etc and shows how she applies it. Good luck!

VeryStressedMum · 28/04/2015 23:05

Thanks Untamed Smile i was supposed to look at hot and flashy but totally forgot, you've just reminded me so I'll look at it now.

tiggyhop · 29/04/2015 05:36

marking place

bigbuttons · 29/04/2015 06:45

untamedshrew you can take it to the under eyes if you want. there are different schools of thought on this.

Everything i put on my face this morning stuck like a bugger. Even my foundation. Is this what getting used to tretinoin means? Sad

Sallystyle · 29/04/2015 08:27

Virginia you know she is on this thread, right?

Still no side effects from the Retin A so I am well chuffed. Maybe my pea size is too small? I have problems with pea size things, I need a pea size measuring spoon or something.

Twitchcoco · 29/04/2015 09:04

I refer Virginia MeanGirl to number 15

Second time using Redermic, did Sunday and Tuesday night. No difference but remember it works on the deeper layers. Just glad I'm not red and peely. or mean and snarky

DrankSangriaInThePark · 29/04/2015 09:04

We are going to need another thread today! Are we going to have a proper quiche name?

The Chas? (CH appreciation society?)

I am starting to notice that without makeup, my skin, especially on the cheekbone area, sort of glows. Not in a scary in-the-dark kind of way, more like a don't need a highlighter anymore kind of way.

DrankSangriaInThePark · 29/04/2015 09:08

Rofl at Beautypedia.....

ilovetosleep · 29/04/2015 09:22

twitchcoco are you supposed to alternate days with redermic? Instructions didn't say so, I have just done two consecutive days. Will my face fall off? Also if I am doing every night I don't know when to do my ren aha resurfacing treatment - maybe every 3rd day, and obv no redermic on those days?

Twitchcoco · 29/04/2015 09:34

I just wanted to start slowly to get my skin used to it TBH. It feels a bit tight so I'll just do alternate nights this week and crack on next week!

I'm sure your face will be lovely :)

I'm acid toning with pads just in the morning but Thats because I'm a scaredy cat and didn't want my face to burn, fall off and get pigmented in the space of a day!

Twitchcoco · 29/04/2015 09:39

Here's a CH post about acids and retinols. Excuse the GiFs they're a bit annoying and I'm not sure if I actually am any clearer about the how-to!

anyone else get it? www.carolinehirons.com/2014/08/beauty-myth-no-9-you-cant-use-retinols.html

ihatethecold · 29/04/2015 10:18

twitchcoco
I saw that on email.
She was spot on! Grin

firstmum45 · 29/04/2015 10:24

I'm pleased to say having really good results with acid toner only after a few days would like to try night cream with retinol any budget suggestions I realise levels of retinol would be lower than prescribed retinol but don't qualify for that plus could I use this cream on a two week holiday in the med in August or am I better leaving it till I come back from the hot sun?

shereebobbins · 29/04/2015 11:24

No, your face won't fall off with Redermic. It's so much weaker than Retin A.

CremeDeSudo · 29/04/2015 11:25

I've got the Aldi Lacura Night Cream with Retinol in (for my non-redermic days) and I like it! Was a bargain too Smile

almondcakes · 29/04/2015 11:25

I am using the Caroline Hirons and beautypedia advice together.

almondcakes · 29/04/2015 11:27

U2, I've also still had no reaction to the retin a, and am also worried I am underestimating a pea size amount!

shereebobbins · 29/04/2015 11:30

Almondcakes. How long have you been using Retn A? It was always two days later that I had a reaction.

almondcakes · 29/04/2015 11:30

Five days.

shereebobbins · 29/04/2015 11:32

You may be one of the lucky ones who can tolerate it straight off.. Lucky girl!

VeryStressedMum · 29/04/2015 12:11

I used the 0.025 retin a last night and no reaction today I'm not sure if I'm glad or not. .glad cos my face looks and feels ok but maybe would have liked a wee bit of something so I know something is happening Grin
I'm not going to use it tonight I think I'll use a retinol (which also i didn't react to) then use the retin the night after. Not sure why I haven't reacted a few years ago I used roc retinox and my face was so sore I couldn't take my make up off I had to sleep in it and stick some more on the top in the morning for two days. Maybe now I'm older my face has become like cow hide.
I read that CH link about retinols and get what she's saying but is that advice the same for retin a/tretinoin or just retinol?
And Grin Grin Grin at is that you Paula Grin

LatinForTelly · 29/04/2015 12:11

How did I miss another 20% M&S? How? I'm sure I read this thread yesterday. Sad

I had my eye on that REN mask thingy too, sigh.

FrownsAndDimples · 29/04/2015 12:25

Jealous at all you non reactive types.

Products will sting as they go on. Try not to worry too much.

Kundry, if I may,

At the moment I am washing with cetaphil in the morning, somedays i moisturise with my eucerin 5% urea somedays i skip this and go onto my diy vitamin c serum and then anthelios sunscreen.

In the pm I'm double cleansing with Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish and then cetaphil. Nip Fan pads and then retin a. Moisturiser when I need it.

Is that enough for now? Anything else you'd recommend? I'm not doing any masks or peels or anything. Everyone's been talking about Liquid Golf/Ren masks. Do I need to get in on that action?

almondcakes · 29/04/2015 12:36

I am just (selfishly) hoping someone one here who bought recently from that ebay seller is having a reaction, so we know it isn't a dodgy batch.

On the other hand, I have the thickest, oiliest, least sensitive skin, and I don't usually react to things.
