Wanted: seriously good knickers

I'm returning to work shortly. Dd is 10mo. Body still a post partum wreck size 18/20. My favourite type of pants in the past have been "sensible" cotton/elastane mix not granny knickers but medium height. Not thong. Not hi leg. I would love if they were pretty and cotton but prepared to compromise style for comfort. Do such knickers exist?! If so from where?

Pretty poly, low rise shorts from TKMaxx
Scoured a whole city to find the perfect comfy knickers and these work, plus the leg line goes along the crease under my buttocks so no VPL.
Mainly plain or stripes and cheap!

Branleuse · 31/03/2015 22:50

i have pretty polly big pants from tk maxx. I prefer to think of them as retro rather than granny. They are amazing.

I also really like M&S midi pants

RandomMess · 31/03/2015 22:54

These are the ones that have worked for me, I'm very fussy about COMFORT

Branleuse · 31/03/2015 22:59

i also love sloggi comfort shorts.

BitOfFun · 31/03/2015 23:03

The problem with shorts is the midriff chill factor. I agree with the "retro" attitude.

bonzo77 · 31/03/2015 23:11

Marks and spencer bikinis. In a 5 pack. Not too skimpy. Not too full. Cotton. I find the edges are in the same place as my natural creases, between top/ front of thigh and hip, and my cs scar. Means I don't get more "rolls" than I do naked. I cannot tolerate thongs, and my thighs touch so shorts styles ride up and gather in my bum crack and chafe.

bonzo77 · 31/03/2015 23:12

Oh their midis in the 5 pack are good if you want more tummy / bum coverage.

ClearlyMoo · 31/03/2015 23:15

This is very helpful. Perhaps I need high ones to keep my tummy tucked in a bit.

Ponders off to google ideas.

Please keep suggestions rolling in. Think this is already the most amazingly useful thread I've started. Cheers ladies.

Muji also do comfy knickers

Another vote for Gap, DSD1 has comfort knickers from there.

Was disappointed by M&S this year, the material was a bit naff and the elastic has gone right down in quality

furtivefeline · 31/03/2015 23:18

I was going to suggest the same gap ones as RandomMess.

McFox · 31/03/2015 23:20

Yes to m&s midis Smile

dramaqueen · 31/03/2015 23:25

Sloggi midis are awesome. Enough coverage but not too high waisted

Hillingdon · 31/03/2015 23:30

Think you really need to avoid vpl. Would recommend M & S no vpl knickers in a size bigger than normal

DianeLockhart · 31/03/2015 23:36

Uniqlo

BitOfFun · 31/03/2015 23:44

All my sidebar adverts are knickers now...

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 31/03/2015 23:51

Not to be controversial, but primark do a 5 pack of briefs that are so comfy! You can get the normal briefs which are around belly button height which are unflattering to naked eye but a dream to your body Grin or they have slightly lower ones with lace/pretty bits which are also SO comfy but good enough for OH to see you in! And multiple choices of colour/patterns/plain. Around £3 for normal ones and £4.50 pack with lace around top!

idontknowmyusernameanymore · 31/03/2015 23:53

Should add that although cheap, pretty certain they're cotton too.

BitOfFun · 31/03/2015 23:56

We like a bargain here.

Want2bSupermum · 31/03/2015 23:59

I got some nice size large Hanro knickers from TK Maxx. They were $9 a pair but they are awesome and very comfy. I also have some nice jockey undies. Emerald green and VPL less.

SelfLoathing · 01/04/2015 01:32

Sloggis have a wide range. Google them and see. The ones that are cotton or mostly cotton are very comfortable and provided you are ruthless about doing a pure white wash and chucking out at the first sign of grey, they look not too hideously granny. Not seduction pants but not granny pants either.

TheCowThatLaughs · 01/04/2015 01:46

Asda do some that come up to the waist and have a thick band of lace across the top. They're massive and comfortable and don't look too bad

MountainDweller · 01/04/2015 12:23

YY to the Slogis. I like the midis. Started getting them after I felt M&S quality went downhill and never looked back!

Superexcited · 01/04/2015 12:24

Another vote for pretty Polly from TK maxx - cheap and mega comfortable.

EdithWeston · 01/04/2015 12:26

If you think you are transitioning in size, Asda multipacks are very cheap and come in a range of heights. I've always found them comfy.

herbaceous · 01/04/2015 12:51

Sainsbury's multi-packs are cotton and comfy. And cheap.
