Argh. I so want to buy them, but haven't seen anyone actually wearing flares yet. Apart from the people who are still wearing them from the first time around.

I love my skinny jeans, how am I going to make the change over...?

I tried these last week and my god they were so unflattering, my thighs looked enormous, I think on this trend I'm happy to lag....they are awful. The high waist needs to be well hidden, flat bums need not apply.

Just bought some thanks :) This trend suits me so well as I am hourglass shaped. I do like skinnies but they don't really love me.

Hurrah! I caved in and ordered some flares from ASOS, but think they have must have dispatched some doves carrying the jeans on a blanket to get them over here, as its been weeks and weeks a while since I placed the order...anyone else done an ASOS order internationally? I'd quite like to wear them before they go out of fashion again. Grrrr.

I want to know that too, Cointreau! I haven't seen anyone wearing them yet.

I'm not a jeans wearer usually, but am looking forward to wearing mine in the summer with sandals and cheesecloth top Blush If they look ok that is, mine haven't arrived yet

NO! In between putting them into my basket and checking out, they've gone out of stock. At 4am GMT. Perhaps this Was Not Meant To Be. Sad

I put a pair in my online Shopping Bag last night, and now I've placed the order.

Baaaa .... Well, they can always go back....

I popped a pair of wedge sandals in the bag too. Blush

Whistles now have slouch flare jeans which are the only way I can do flares -- I used to have several pairs of Toast slouch flares which I loved. I've just bought a pair of Whistles wide leg jeans (out of stock now in most sizes). I adore them.

You are are all more than welcome ladies!

If I was taller and more coltish of leg I'd wear with Converse or sparkly flat sandals when the weather warms up a bit. As I'm not I might try to get away with flatforms or thicker soled trainers. Love the plan for wedges and clogs MrsGG. Those and platforms will work for me. I want a platform with not too thin a heel though. There was a thread about the Clarks Orla Kiely Beatrice shoes the other day. They're lovely if you want t smarter look but I am thinking of something a bit more casual in tan leather.

By the way, I think how flared these are depends on leg shape. I have a big arse and fairly curvy thighs and calves. I would still say they are flared rather than boot cut on me. True boot cut jeans don't really start on me until way down past the knee due to my big calves, but these flare out from the knee. I do like those wide legged flares that start at the top though. I got a Uniqlo pair years ago and still wear them. I some wide legged flares in H&M yesterday but not sure about the denim quality and there were almost no sizes left. Not seen them online either.

Or Cointreau, you could sell them to me? (assuming we happen to be the same size)

[Hopeful face emoticon]... no pressure... none at all....

LOL Britabroad, well, I'm usually a 10 in M&S, so that's what I went for. Collecting tomorrow.

Tried these on today. Quite liked them but waaaay too long (and I can't do heels).

Report
PinkSquash · 12/03/2015 14:21

Does anyone know what the inside leg measurement is on the long length?

Report
WagonWheel · 12/03/2015 15:47

Wore mine today for the third time and had loads of mums say "ooh, love your boot cuts!" Only one (very stylish) dad commented that they were flares! Maybe it's my figure? I'm tallish and an 8 and although there is room through the thigh and from the knee downwards they are nowhere near as wide at the bottom as other flares I've seen (see comment about the Me and Em ones above).

At the end of the day it's pretty academic what we call them, no? I'm not bothered about the name, just whether I like them and they suit me. PinkSquash, I tried on the long length, too, but they were a bridge too far at 5'9 with flats - I would have fallen on my face in no time. I would guestimate they were about a 36 leg, but couldn't swear to it.

I like the pointy flare. I might iron my jeans for the first time in my life to get a crease down the middle. I have always loved that 70s look. Sigh.

These were the ones I meant from H&M:

Don't like the look of them that much. A bit too Huggie Bear 70s cliche for me. Flared from the top but not wide enough to be flattering to all shapes. I would look like a pair of sausages in these.

Oh dear God.

I picked up my new flares in M&S this afternoon and rushed excitedly into the changing rooms to try them on. They certainly do fit beautifully around the top, nicely fitted on the thigh, good thick denim, but my God the flares....they looked utterly ridiculous on me. Huge great wide flappy ankles; like a fancy dress ABBA costume.

DD2 fell about laughing. The 20-something assistant in the changing rooms smirked and said she certainly wouldn't wear them.

No no no. It's official: I am not ready to wear flares in public. I will revisit this trend in due course, but for now, I'm sticking with skinnies.

Awful on and I too will stick to skinny or straight

V pleased with mine. Got the long and regular and am keeping the long. Much more flared than the pics. DH hates them. Grin

Had exactly the same experience as Cointreau. Mine arrived today, yes they make my arse look ace, great colour denim, brilliant high waist etc

But omg the flare! Totally over the top, laughably flappy.

Mine are going back.
