Are these Clarks sandals nice or hideous?

Please help, I can't decide - are these nice for summer, or hideous and awful? I know DH will hate them, but if they're comfortable (which I think they will be - I've had wide-fit Clarks wedges before Blush and worn them to death) and they are not too old-lady, I might get them. For context, I am 35 and not very trendy (but would like to be...) I would probably wear them with skinny dark jeans and stripy tops, which appears to be my 'uniform'.

I love them - but then I'm 45 and wear what I like. Buy the shoes!

margaritasbythesea · 08/03/2015 16:35

I like them but i postdd a similar pair last year whuch got slammed. 70s is in this year though.

AIBU to think Clarks' prices are getting silly, though?

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 08/03/2015 16:37

I like them.

bonzo77 · 08/03/2015 16:39

Depends how you wear them. I think ok in an ironic kind of way. I'd wear them. Probably with a tube skirt or skinny jeans. Not with ankle flapper grey polyester slacks. White is quite flattering: you only need a hint of a tan and you'll look golden.

YANBU - and I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking this. I used to buy stuff from Clarks regularly some years ago, and I definitely didn't pay the equivalent of the £50/60/70 they are now asking for a pair of shoes.

GrumbleGums · 08/03/2015 16:40

Like them, a lot. They're quite high though. And yes, Clarks are getting pricey

Floralnomad · 08/03/2015 16:40

I think they're hideous and I'm late 40s .

There are lots of nice wedge sandals around...

CoconutAmericano · 08/03/2015 16:50

I think they're awful, sorry

emsyj · 08/03/2015 16:50

Hmmmm, opinion seems to be divided! Confused
I ummed and aaaahed about getting a pair of Saltwater sandals last year - DH was set against it and thought they were absolutely disgusting, I eventually had a brave moment and bought the patent yellow pair and they were (and are) amazing - so comfortable, go with loads of things and I got endless compliments when I wore them to work. I am hoping these would go the same way, but I'm not sure...

Confused

I think they're lovely and I'm your sort of age, OP.

emsyj · 08/03/2015 16:54

Oh yes, the pricing at Clarks seems to go endlessly upwards - I usually only buy when they have a 20% off deal, which they seem to do fairly often. Fashion type shoes from places like Carvela (which would be my other go-to shoe shop) are also getting more and more pricy and I do usually find Clarks shoes wear well. I've got a pair of the Ciera Pier oxblood leather heeled brogues that I've worn loads and they still look like new - the Clarks wedge sandals I'm looking to replace have had 3 summers of heavy wear and are only just starting to look a little bit tired. I could probably revive them with some shoe polish but they stink...

They look very uncomfortable. I prefer the Royal Hannah ones.

CoconutAmericano · 08/03/2015 16:55

Well i love my saltwaters but i really think those are ugly sorry op

bertiebogtrotter · 08/03/2015 16:57

I love them...in fact I think I am going to order some!

emsyj · 08/03/2015 16:58

I think the Roya Hannah are hideous !!! Grin Sorry Bun!

emsyj · 08/03/2015 16:59

So, are those of you who say you like/love them all terribly glamorous and fashionable, then?

OP posts:
ouryve · 08/03/2015 17:00

They're wedgey Jesus sandals!

I'll confess that the heels terrify me, but I don't find them hideous.

Bunbaker · 08/03/2015 17:01

You can tell I'm no fashion icon Grin
