70's style denim button through skirt - anyone else?

I love 70's style and snapped up a button through denim skirt that fits perfectly a couple of weeks ago. All good, but everytime I go to wear it I'm stumped. I'm worried about it looking a bit frumpy (am in 40's) and not sure about wearing it with tights, what would I wear on my feet? In the summer I'd wear it with wedges, converse etc, but not sure which way to go now. Any ideas?

If it's midi length you could try knee high boots maybe?

maybemyrtle · 08/03/2015 12:51

I have one I wore the other day with black tights and boots and cream roll neck. Mine comes a few inches above the knee but not quite mini. It looked good I think but I would love a suede version, like the one I had from Outer Edge at Topshop in the 90s :)

I have been looking for one for years. Literally. I posted on here about three years ago looking for one and was roundly mocked.

Now, they're IN. And sold out. I'm looking at YOU, M&S.

GRRRRRRR Angry

Wear one with clogs, knee high tan boots, leather jacket, lurex top, neck scarf, polo neck, tight fitting shirt. Anything in my wardrobe, basically Angry

Unless you know where I can get a nice one...?

Florence and Fred have some A-line denim skirts, but fly front, not button through

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 08/03/2015 13:35

Esprit have some button throughs

frankietwospots · 08/03/2015 13:47

Stains burgs have them.

frankietwospots · 08/03/2015 13:48

Errr, that'll be Sainsburys.

tethersend · 08/03/2015 13:51

Thanks- but I wanted a midi length a line one like this... Where did you get yours from, OP?

Is gone everywhere. And no more stock coming in, ever apparently Sad

Twinklestein · 08/03/2015 16:38

Just no.

If you're Alexa Chung or any other supertall, slim, long-legged 20something you pull off a mini version. At 40 you're just going to look like Ann Ferguson.

Twinklestein · 08/03/2015 16:42

It's serendipity tethers you've been saved from disaster Grin

tethersend · 08/03/2015 16:49

I've moved on to lusting after this one now... Only £199 and not available yet :-/

I've had one in my drawers for years. I've only worn it a few times cos I feel too short for it.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 08/03/2015 16:54

Wot size, should we happen upon one?

libertychick · 08/03/2015 16:59

I love that suede one too tethers.

Twinklestein · 08/03/2015 17:00

Oh my good God.

tethersend · 08/03/2015 17:02

16 please fifty! Or an 18, can do something with a belt. It's a lost cause though Grin

I just want a proper, high waisted, a line, midi skirt. Grump.

FiftyShadesOfSporn · 08/03/2015 17:37

Amazon has a fair few

I saw loads in the store near work Tethers - will look for you when I next go in.

TheBuskersDog · 08/03/2015 17:56

Who is Ann Ferguson? Google tells me an American philosopher, not someone we all have an image of in our minds.

Twinklestein · 08/03/2015 18:47

Ann Ferguson was my friend's mum.

MrsGuyGarvey · 08/03/2015 19:45

I got mine from that high end store known as Sainsburys. I haven't been doing knee high boots for the last couple of years so don't have any, are they coming back? I think that's my problem really, I've been wearing ankle boots (biker, Chelsea & those Marant knock off jobs) and I can't see how they'd go with a denim skirt. I worry that knee high boots will turn up the frump factor.
