Advice on warm boots for wearing to watch football ...

My ds plays football matches at least twice a week plus training etc and I am freezing at this time of year. I have a decent coat and can layer up but haven't found any footwear that can keep my feet warm. Does anyone have any they recommend?

I would imagine SNOW BOOTS would be your best bet.

A couple of other people have snow boots and still complain of cold feet - I can't believe there isn't something out there that will work for a couple of hours!

Extra socks always helped me. Ski tubes in particular.

I tried tights and 2 pairs of socks under normal boots but didn't do much Hmm. I've got months/years of this to come so don't mind getting something decent if it helps!

I'd wear walking boots/socks.

Or get yourself some heated insoles!

My DD got some fur lined waterproof CAT/Timberland style boots.
She always claims they are warm and loves them.
I believe she got them from ebay? £25

Neoprene welly boots - I am a rugby mum and spend many hours stood in freezing mud! I have some tayberry ones - with thick socks these have kept my feet warmer than with snow boots.

Ooh heated insoles ... Wonder if they work! Will check out the wellies and Cats etc. Thank you all. I thought wellies were meant to be cold though?

I got some Merrell Captiva Buckle Down boots in the sale at Surfdome recently and I LOVE them - squidgily comfy soles, waterproof and warm. I wouldn't call them super-stylish but they're a lot less frumpy than most of the practical winter boots out there. The only thing I'm disappointed with is that the tread on the sole isn't brilliant, so I have to be careful on icy surfaces - other than that, they're fantastic!

Leather/waterproof uggs and 2 pairs of very thin socks. Alternatively a pair of fleece lined leather boots, again with 2 pairs of thin socks.

I would also recommend sizing up.

I have a very warm, slightly big pair of fleece-lined wellies, cheap as chips, feet go 'numb' if I wear too many socks, so with one pair of thick woolly socks, feet are super toastie.

Know it's hard to move around at footie but remember to wiggle your toes every no and then, gets the circulation moving.

I wear Dubarry boots for football watching - they're fantastic. I have fleecy liners if it's really cold but don't usually need them. Pricey but really worth it.

wow only one person has said ugg boots... as a long term sufferer of cold feet i can vouch for these being the one and only thing that works. pair of uggs (the classic sort, not the leather ones with wool lining) with a thick pair of socks, preferably woolly ones.

Thermal socks and a second pair, also thermal if necessary, and whatever shoes you want

Thermal longjohns leggings also help

Trespass Dodo are great, sturdy, warm, waterproof and quite cheap (under £40 usually).

I bought these last winter for hockey watching Merrell Yarra - they keep my feet as warm as toast even when outdoors for hours, they are also totally waterproof (was paddling in the sea in them the other day).

Look for something lined with wool and leather rather than synthetic. I have some Rieker boots that are very warm, but they've been discontinued.

I also have some Camel Active boots that are almost as warm, but look pretty damned good, too.

Walking boots with thick wool socks are a good bet.

Ugg Gershwins with thermal socks work a treat while watching rugby. Sometimes my feet are the only thing on my body!

Thermal socks (m&s) make the world of difference. Try that before you invest in new Boots. If you do need boots I'd go with walking boots - mine are so toasty and give amazing protection from cold ground.

glub the boots I linked are sheepskin-lined, but they're a much better shape than Uggs & you can pull them tight.

Merell Oslo are so warm I can't really walk in them unless it's way below freezing!
