Enjoy your wine and lamb Herbs and sod him....

CointreauVersial · 14/02/2015 20:45

No wine for me; I'm on party pick up duty. Angry

hattymattie · 14/02/2015 21:07

I'm here! North of England rather warmer than expected. Not sure I should have worn my duvet coat.

Oh Rudy - that's so kind of you. I think we've got it sorted. DD2 is going to stay with a friend in London and have a quick tour of the London uni's and then pop back up to Cambridge for her masterclass. DD1 has kindly consented to accept her sister for two nights rather than four. I think DD1 may be a bit less stressy once year one is over and she has (hopefully) some reasonable exam results to show for it.

CointreauVersial · 15/02/2015 01:02

Argh... DH is just off to bed and has given me one of those "come hither" looks.

Well, it is Valentine's Day.... Wink Wink Wink

Auriga · 15/02/2015 01:29

Lost my post.

Short version:

  1. DD's concert was great (so was her report)
  2. Dame Edna is a goddess Grin
hattymattie · 15/02/2015 08:52

God my DF denies that I told him I was going out with friends this afternoon and has summoned my good for nothing DB for a meal. Really annoying as I haven't got car. DS says DF is forgetting stuff but won't admit it. I feel like I'm twelve years old again. Now I remember why I only come for two days at a time.

MontserratCaballe · 15/02/2015 08:52

Morning crepeys! Sorry to have gone AWOL this week. It's been a bit of a shocker. The boss meeting turned out to be an offer of more work, which I have declined. No pistols, alas. Rest of week was hugely busy, culminating in a funeral on Friday which was a 2h drive each way and hugely draining. I was not fit for much yesterday as a result. Shattered. Feel better after a good sleep though. We are going to walk to C Pal for lunch and then the kids and I will bake a cake. Very soothing.

NU, your poor DH, how is he today? Was it broken? I hope he is comfortable and that the shiner has gone down.

Fab news for DD, Auriga. Well done on the report.

Herbs, well done on surviving your teaching assessment and sorry your valentine's night got off on the wrong foot. Hope it turned out OK in the end.

How is Sussex, Rose? Are you there for the whole half term week? Is the SW going well? When is weigh in day? I realised how lardy I have become with a few reflections in windows this week, so am now taking action. I am going to Mallorca in May with some girlfriends and am determined not to be the token fatty. I shall cut back with you Smile

CV, in which bit of Norfolk is the house ? We have spend many a cheery holiday in Wells / Brancaster / Burnham Market, though I suspect your teens won't be fobbed off by Bircham windmill and Norfolk Lavender. There are plenty of nice pubs though which can be used as the carrot after a good long walk. I will have a think about other activities.

Right going to post this now and then read more.

MontserratCaballe · 15/02/2015 09:05

BTM am very envious of your Italian jaunt. Sounds fab. How is the snow? Snow chains sound very industrial though.

Hatty, I revert to feeling 12 when I am at home too. Can you manage early lunch with brother and then nip out?

Auriga, Dame E was bloody brilliant on the bake off. I love that programme. Joanna L was looking rather more crepey than of late. I had a Purdey cut in the late 70s (aged about 8) which I thought was great but it took photographic evidence to convince me that you needed to look as beautiful as Joanna to pull it off.

Talking of hair, mine is a disaster and the hairdresser who I quite liked has left the salon. Where do I go now? Can local crepeys make any recommendations for someone who is good with short, fine, rather lank hair? I feel stressed about finding someone new and having to go through the leap of faith with a new 'do, esp as I feel a bit lacking in other areas ATM.

motherinferior · 15/02/2015 09:30

Approaching parental home. Flaming row last night with DP who thinks I am not doing enough and especially not supporting DSis.

Also am fed up with my lardiness and the inability of constant Ladyjogging to dent the scales.

herbaceous · 15/02/2015 10:00

Oh MI. What a horrid start to your Sunday. Persistent lardiness is indeed most depressing. At least your lady jogging is staving off other ailments of age - Alzheimer's, heart disease, all that...

Monty - I love my hairdresser. She did a v good purdy cut (!) on mine, as shown a few pages back, and as admired by the crepeys at the meet up. She's on Walthamstow mind you. But she often has a daschund in her salon. Pm me if you want the details!

Blackduck · 15/02/2015 10:47

MI that's tough. I've sent D's out with DDad and am with Dmum which isn't easy.....

Rosebag · 15/02/2015 10:48

Oh gosh hatty grit teeth. I cannot imagine even staying over at my parents. It stopped feeling like home a long time ago. Glad the DDs thing has been sorted out..

Strength to you MI that is a difficult day ahead. You do what you can. If others think it's not enough, so be it. I just wonder whether this is bringing out some of your Dps insecurities? And that's why he kicked off? Thanks x

tilly well done on the successful trek to the slopes. Are you having a nice time ?

monty ahh yes! I know that feeling....one gets offered more 'opportunities' at work but it's really just more work, eh. I had a lovely relaxing evening, watched two surprisingly good films back to back on Film4 ...fell asleep on the sofa in this cosy little flat. DH had sent a valentines card in the post...I shouldn't be so hard on him, should I. It's lovely and sunny today and I am going for a mooch around arundel. Spa day tomorrow and then the troops arrive tomorrow afternoon. We're here til Fri or Sat.

SW...well not weighing til Monday but I am enjoying it actually....enjoying my food, I mean...probably too much, but feel fine on it. Not hungry. Missed my usual Sussex arrival treat of cream tea in the village, but hey.

I have a brilliant hairdresser..fab cut every time but too far for you, alas monty

Happy Saturday Crepeys

herbaceous · 15/02/2015 11:02

< whispers > Rose, it's Sunday.

Rosebag · 15/02/2015 11:04

Ah so it is...every day just merges in to one. Senior moment....

bigTillyMint · 15/02/2015 14:27

Lovely sunny day here on the slopes. My French friend and I took the racquettes and went tramping for miles in the snow, off piste through thick snow, in the trees, up and down the mountains whilst the others went off skiing. I am exhausted! My phone step - counter says I have done 20000 today and my knees aren't feeling good - will have to see how I go with skiing tomorrow

Snow chains have not been needed so far, phew!

Rose you are doing well sticking to your dietFlowers
Monty, I can PM you some hairdresser but as my hair is extremely thick, I can't vouch for anyone re fine hair personally.

Hatty, I revert to petulant teenager at the mere mention of DM - I am dreading going to see her at EasterSad

Hope everyone's St Valentin's were romantic - totally forgotten hereGrin

I actually managed not to be a petulant teenager todayShock

Parents doing rather better than I dreaded, in fact. But boy it's nice to be home.

lalsy · 15/02/2015 18:05

That's great MI, and well done on non-petulance.

And Hatty, I am sorry I thought you were on the slopes too.

Very quiet weekend but with a couple of top notch martinis mixed by dh Smile. And we have nearly finished watching that beastly The Fall programme. We have to have a dull HT because dh's MIL has just had major surgery so that may be as good as it gets, what with more bloomin' coursework for ds and an unusually steady flow of freelance stuff for me.

CointreauVersial · 15/02/2015 18:13

I loved Celebrity Bake-off with Dame Edna and laughed all the way through it. I saw BH live about 20 years ago; both the Dame and the Australian Cultural Attaché took their turns on stage (the latter spraying the front row with half eaten peanuts) - very funny.

It was a low-key Sunday lunch here; DSis in a grubby sweatshirt and jeans as she hasn't unpacked her clothes yet (and couldn't find my birthday present Shock), and DSM half asleep at the table after spending the last two days assisting her with the move. DBIL didn't even make it, as he wasn't at all well, so stayed in bed. Poor DSis; she isn't quite OCD but is very much a neat freak who likes everything just so and house moves inevitably throw up something unexpected, so she looked utterly drained. Anyway, we had a lovely roast dinner at the pub over the road (I suspect they hadn't actually sat down and eaten a decent meal for quite a few days), a quick coffee and lemon drizzle cake back at ours, then they all pushed off.

Monty, the holiday home is in the middle of nowhere near Fakenham, apparently. We will probably stop in Cambridge en route (boys to Duxford, girls for shopping and cake) and have also pencilled in Go Ape which isn't too far away. Apart from that, who knows? East Anglia is our Oyster.

MI, that wasn't hugely supportive of DP. Angry If DSis felt she wasn't getting enough help from you, she'd say so, surely?

beachyhead · 15/02/2015 19:12

Lalsy, isn't your dh's MIL, your mother?

Rosebag · 15/02/2015 19:19

Good jobMI...well survived. Glad to,here there's some improvement.

I too have passed a blissfully quiet day, ostensibly not knowing or worrying what day it actually is Confused Gorgeous spring like weather and lots of mooching and longish walks. I bought some lovely earrings in my favourite Arundel boutique. Oh the joy of browsing without annoying teens. I have been very good food wise, finding an excellent SW choice for lunch...superfood type salad thingy. However by the evening felt the need to collapse into a carb fest...involving some significant quantity of Heinz tinned spaghetti. All allowable, though.

Having watched a silly movie on Movie Mix I am now attending to some DIY topiary in prep for spa day tomorrow. Don't want to frighten the horses with winter neglect. What a bore.... Grin Shock

Rosebag · 15/02/2015 19:20

Hear...

lalsy · 15/02/2015 19:52

Beachy, good point. Yes, it is his dm Grin.
