Here you go...

Maybe the wave of tiredness is just about a group of very capable women of a certain age, carrying the weight of the world so our loved ones don't have to? It becomes a way of life...the norm. What helps me...sleeping less not more....and not lying in too much...spending time laughing at inane jokes with friends.......not too many carbs ( but some) ...walks by the coast....remembering to put the oxygen mask on me sometimes.
And if all that fails visit the Docs for tests, I suppose.

BD poor boy...if someone's said something unkind. I like Tilly's idea of the BMI ...ie you're not overweight ...look it's in black and white.

cremo life's too short to hate where you have to work day in day out. What you need is A Plan. I am sadly the opposite...I have generally loved my jobs and as I now don't have one, I miss it.

I have been released from the prison of caring for the sick. DD is back in school but she looks so pale. I am at the mall celebrating with a purchase or two with various birthday vouchers. Got some lovely maroon suede loafers in JL reduced to £37.50 from £75!! I have also booked a spa day in Sussex for next Monday which I am in much need of. Day 4 of Slimming World...still on the wagon, but not long enough to notice any impact on the weeble status...

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 13:03

Rose, I think you are probably right. I am definitely trying desperately not to stress about the DC all the time, but it is using up an inordinate amount of my energy!

And well done on the SW - I am not in a place to try to lose weight ATM. Sadly!

motherinferior · 12/02/2015 13:31

I think my tiredness is directly attributable to a group of different things including period and successive Ladyjogs. Alas, I feel my sister is the capable one not me. Grin

Parents now panicking as they realise they will be left on their own from Sat. DSis has done them some brilliant instructions including Making Sandwiches From Scratch for our dad.

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 13:36

OMG MI, I have been doing instructions for making sandwiches and the children were asking who would need an instruction for making a sandwich. I said an alienGrin

cremolafoam · 12/02/2015 13:52

Well done Stropps- don't be do hard on yourself! Your commitment and abilities are a shining example!

Herbs everything crossed for tomorrow! You will knock their socks off, I'm sure.

MI - vair impressed with your sister's instruction lists! Sorry the old period is knocking you out. The weekend will be time enough to go see the dparents . They need to know they can cope on their own. Thanks

Oh I don't know what to do. I am shattered ATM and listless. We are all now squashed into one tiny office and I have lost my ability to have space( an office) to think in. We are also threatened with the possibility if a take over . It's like a big black cloud if doom. I dread that , and the fact that my body seems to have decided to break down at an alarming rate.( as evidenced by illnesses and pain over the last year or so)
I'd like to be doing something practical and creative again , but the arthritis , and lack of pay etc... Well...
Feeling a bit scrap- heapyConfused

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 13:56

OH Cremo, you poor thing. It sounds very heavy-going. Could you get signed off for a bit at least? It sounds like you need some time to get yourself together before you can think about the future.

herbaceous · 12/02/2015 13:59

Just had my first peanut butter kit kat chunky for far too long. Most restorative. I can recommend it to anyone feeling jaded.

Had actually gone out to get vat of Roses chocolates, or similar, for my class tomorrow, as it will be the last time I teach them. But the shelves of the mini Tesco had been entirely taken over with Easter Eggs, which had usurped the Roses. Easter! Already!

hattymattie · 12/02/2015 14:11

MI - I think magnesium tablets are worth trying. I read somewhere that 70% of the population was magnesium short.

Stropps - well done.

DD2 being very difficult as she doesn't want to go skiing but wants to hang around here seeing her friends. No just no! Her excuse is that she needs the time to revise her French bac and there is no internet at my parents in law.

hattymattie · 12/02/2015 14:12

Peanut butter KitKat chunky? Why have I never heard of this?

motherinferior · 12/02/2015 14:12

Crem, I really think if at all possible (and of course it is not always possible) you need time OUT. You have carried so very very much over the past few years.

I have quelled panicky parents by rearranging their home help assessment, bringing it forward from early March to next week.

DSis's instructions also cover: soup and toast, scrambled egg, bagged salad and how to heat up home-frozen food. My mum did a whole stack of curry portions before going into hospital. Not that she's actually eating them now, so heating them up is a bit of a waste.

wordassociationfootball · 12/02/2015 14:21

Grin at MI's dad needing same instructions as an alien.

I take magnesium and it has stopped my palpitations completely.

NU - love your trivia... trivia. You're clever to have found that dose of your meds. Could you see a different GP if your new one gets tricky about it?

CV - My DH thinks anything is fair game for his feet when he's on the sofa.

I had leftover curry for breakfast and an enormous slab of carrot cake for elevenses. My excuse is that it was my birthday yesterday. I had a crap day feeling weary, writing and cooking but an awesome evening with v good friends of wit, verve, quirk and curiosity - all women. MI - I made both your curries from Lalsy's list.

Herbs - you have reminded me that I have two big boxes of untouched birthday chocs downstairs. Good luck with lesson...

... and well done Very Good Stropps!!!

NUFC69 · 12/02/2015 14:54

WAF, belated birthday wishes for yesterday. Did you do anything special?

DH's birthday next week so we are supposed to be going shopping to see if he has any bright ideas for presents. I am singularly devoid of any inspiration as he has everything that he wants (or when I suggest something he doesn't want it! ).

MI, well done about the assessment for DM. I am Shock at sandwich instructions.

Back in a while. ...

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 15:30

Ooh, have just googled magnesium. It looks just the ticket for me - any recommendations of a good brand/where from?

WAF, glad you had a lovely birthdayCakeWineFlowers Haven't had curry for breakfast for a good few years!

motherinferior · 12/02/2015 16:27

BTM, I've just been sent a release about magnesium!

NU, I am always Grin to see how other people react to the true reality of my parents.

Stropperella · 12/02/2015 16:45

BTM, I've been taking the easy-absorption Magnesium from Holland & Barrett since around last September to try and keep me from being knackered all the time. I have also been taking zinc to try and ward off the germs, as I had so many damn colds etc last winter. I don't know if they have worked, but I have managed to keep going despite doing twice as much as I was this time last year and being under significant pressure - plus I have only had one slight sniffle so far this winter.

Happy birthday for yesterday, WAF! Get on with those chocs Grin

Struggling to keep up today, as have too much work. Will pop back when I have beaten this document into submission. And now I have to taxi ds to a piano lesson. Just what my work schedule needs. NOT. I can't delegate the taxi-ing to dh, as his deadline is tonight and mine is tomorrow. Phooey.

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 16:54

Is it only me that doesn't know about Magnesium?!

Stropps, you are so full of positivity now, that I feel at least some of it must be down to the Magnesium! I am going to get some to take with my Gentle IronSmile

Meanwhile, DD has had a horrid time at school. Again. Shit seems to overwhelm her, particularly when she is exhausted. And stressed with mocks. Why do they think doing them in the last week before a holiday is a good time? At least she will be able to relax next week if we actually make it out of the house at silly o'clock on Saturday

Rosebag · 12/02/2015 18:19

Happy Birthday to WAF !! Cake Wine And thank goodness for female friends...tonight I am going to the pub with friends three of whom had birthdays in the same week as me...slightly delayed, but that we get together at all is amazing considering everyone's mad schedules.

Men are aliens. No shit Grin If it makes you feel any better MI and other Crepeys with clueless specimens in the family, my Ddad , left to his own devices ( pre dementia) sat eating dry bread. Shock Hmm

Tilly hugs to you dealing with DDs moods and stresses. dS2 is complaining about coming to the flat next week because of all the work he has to do for bloody school. Perhaps we could leave then to stress together whilst we bugger off on holiday. Similar to Hatty. How can anyone not want to go away? What is this generation where the parents are actually partying more than the teens?

Does magnesium aid weight loss? And I'll thank herbs not to dangle food porn!!! that kitkat sounds better than sex.... Grin

MollyAir · 12/02/2015 19:05

Belated happy birthday, WAF!

Magnesium - I use a spray oil. When I think of it.

MI, are Meals on Wheels a possibility at all? They act as a check to see if all's well, in addition to bringing food.

lalsy · 12/02/2015 19:20

Happy belated ones WAF Cake

BTM, poor dd - is it the meanies or the mocks or both?

bigTillyMint · 12/02/2015 19:22

Thanks Rose. We have just had the actual GCSE timetable through too. 4 weeks of it. 2 before and 2 after May half-term, gulp.

I am so tired I don't even want to go out tonight with my friendsSad DD said I would feel better when I see them!

herbaceous · 12/02/2015 20:34

I'm with your DD, BTM. Once you get out there, and get some wine down you, all will be well...

Stropperella · 12/02/2015 21:58

BTM, poor dd :( hope she can manage to perk up next week. It's probably exhaustion and stress as much as anything.

BD, I'd be having some leisurely large family meals over half-term and seeing how ds eats when he's away from school and his peers. Does he worry a lot in general about his appearance?

I missed my circuits class tonight to do work. Unfortunately, I then discovered ds had nits (which has only ever happened once before, so I was a bit surprised) and had to spend that hour de-nitting him instead. Damn and blast.

MrsSchadenfreude · 12/02/2015 23:31

Steve Strange has died. I listened to him all the way across France on my walkman, being sent to my French exchange by train in 1981 and 82. RIP Steve.

I would also like to be less tired, but I know that in my case I need to sleep more, as I am rarely in bed until 1.00 and up around 6.30.

OP posts:
Auriga · 13/02/2015 00:41

WAF, good to see you and happy belated birthday Thanks

BTM, sorry for poor stressed DD. The pressure about exams is ridiculous. We're going to Spamalot in April & we offered to take two of DD's friends. Both have said they won't be allowed to go, as it's "only three weeks before GCSEs". It's a Saturday evening fgs.

Big fun at the Darwin Day lecture today (part of DH's Christmas present from me). Dawkins and Scott on fine form, lively audience, good atmosphere.

Thought about moving my bank account, to teach those bastards at HSBC a lesson. But then remembered a banker friend telling me that the big banks are all as bad as each other Sad. Look out for more jaw-dropping revelations to come. It'll turn out to be like LIBOR, they'll all be at it.

MI four ladyjogs in a week is impressive. No more up-beating of self (Think I may just have enunciated a a Crepey Law.)

bigTillyMint · 13/02/2015 06:58

MrsS, has he? My ex used to talk about him and various others from his days as an "original punk" and roadie'ing/DJ'ing.

DD was right and it was good to see my friends and drink fizz last night, despite being the oldest in the hipster joint! And Herbs, you are right, once I get there with a glass of something in my hand I will be fine till we have to wrestle the bloody snowchains onto the car Wink

Last day - hope I can get DD out of bed...
