Best high St mascara. Hit me!

Lndnmummy · 16/01/2015 09:12

Please help ladies, need your suggestions for best high St mascara. Need a new one tomorrow but January is a tight month before payday so if I could not spend £20++ then that would be really helpful.

I have tried maybeline in the pink tube - hate it and boots natural collection -ditto.

Any loreal, max factor etc mascara fans out there? Please help me, I would really appreciate it.

If you'd have asked six months ago I'd have said Max Factor False Lash without a shadow of a doubt, been a fan for years. And then Boots was out of stock when I had a mascara emergency (don't ask...) so I was forced into another choice.

Oh. My. God. Loreal Volume Million Excess is AMAZING. Knocks Max Factor into a cocked hat.

Since then, I've also tried Benefit They're Real (was bought it as a gift) and that is also excellent. However, Volume Million just edges it for me, because there is a particular technique for They're Real that I don't always have the time nor patience for when I'm trying to get ready for work in as short a time as possible Grin

IBelieveInPink · 16/01/2015 14:05

I used to wear benefit their real. It is awesome.

But! Since discovered loreal false lash telescopic. It is even better.... So so good. Smile

MrsMarigold · 16/01/2015 14:08

I like the boots No7 in the purple tube it doesn't smudge, it isn't one that adds loads of volume but it's very waterproof and doesn't clump either

Fannydabbydozey · 16/01/2015 14:09

Max factor masterpiece. I always end up back with it after trying others. I have an amazing mini Clarins one that I got in a set but I can't justify the cost of a big one. I've just bought the L'Oreal million lashed and i don't like it at all. Hate the brush. Really miffed at the tenner I spent on that.

mmgirish · 16/01/2015 14:13

I like Clinique mascara. Don't know the exact name but they are around £18

SaltySeaBird · 16/01/2015 14:14

Am I the only one who hates Benefit They're Real?

I haven't got one to recommend as I don't think any that I've used are that special and I tend to change with every purchase - from budget to really expensive ones. Currently being underwhelmed by a Clinique one. It's fine but I won't buy it again. Maybe I expect too much!

Watching this thread with interest though.

bluesbaby · 16/01/2015 14:14

My all time favourite is the silver tube of L'oreal voluminous. One of the best for thickening eyelashes with length without clumping or flaking off.
Been using it for about 15 years.

meglet · 16/01/2015 14:18

I bought the no.7 one in the gold tube last week. seems to be pretty good, I'm going to test it on a rainy run at some point. It's weird when it washes off though, I get black flecks on my flannel.

boggis · 16/01/2015 14:22

i like the natural look separated but long look. the No. 17 one in the round black tube is amazing. they look like natural lashes, but just really long"

and i've tried all my makeup artist friend's mascara, from ellis faas, etc to sisley to, well, most of em, including tube ones and one that was 80 quid!

OwlAlwaysBeeBear · 16/01/2015 14:27

My all time favourite is Maybelline Define A Lash. Gives me the longest lashes ever.

Second favourite is Benefit They're Real.

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 16/01/2015 14:29

Benefit They're Real gets my vote

shrunkenhead · 16/01/2015 14:34

No7 in a metallic green tube is the best I've found yet. Not clumpy and small wand gets all the lashes.

fireandblood · 16/01/2015 14:40

Loreal volume million , I have tubes of Clinique, no7 and estee lauder all crap in comparision. Just been to boots to get my fix this morning. £10.99 I think it is.

Fabulassie · 16/01/2015 14:46

Mr. Goss raves about Seventeen Falsify HD (£6.99):

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 16/01/2015 14:49

I loathed benefit they're real. Just glued my eyelashes together. I hear others love it though.

Max factor for me.
More expensive the Clinique one in the silver tube. Less than 20 quid is my all time favourite.

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 16/01/2015 14:50

Depends on your lashes. I have very long lashes already and want volume so I think that's why benefit didn't work for me.
Bad lash gal by benefit I like though.

muminhants · 16/01/2015 15:21

I liked the Benefit purple one but they stopped making it. I like Clinique and Origins, but I'm a bit of a beauty box fan (especially Latest in Beauty) so have a few mascaras to use up before I can buy anymore.

I like Blinc so am interested that there is a Boots equivalent.

Lndnmummy · 16/01/2015 15:31

Great tips here, thanks everyone. Will be a productive day tmrw in Boots. Will let you know which one I go for.

I use a curler and tightline so most important thing to me is hold (hate panda eyes) and pigment. It needs to be really black oh an I hate clumpy ones.

Not asking for alot, am I?

What about those of you blessed - as I am - with both short and fine lashes? I would love to find a really good lengthening mascara.

I look like a lizard without mascara :(

arlagirl · 16/01/2015 15:42

I'd like one that doesn't smudge.

SaidFlorence · 16/01/2015 15:45

Another vote for L'Oreal Million Lashes.

Felina · 16/01/2015 15:50

I'm a repeat buyer of Max Factor Clump Defy!

hollyisalovelyname · 16/01/2015 16:12

Gosh Bombastic is very good for volume.
Google Cosmopolitan mascara review. They did a review and you can see for yourself which ones are good from the photographs. The same girl/woman tried them all and photographed them. You then draw your own conclusion. I thought the Gosh one looked good. Bought it and would rebuy.

hollyisalovelyname · 16/01/2015 16:14

What is the LEAST OILY but BESTremover for waterproof mascara?

Namechangeyetagaintohide · 16/01/2015 16:20

Boots own fragrance free eye make up remover. It's about £1.50.
