More crepey wisdom.....

Isn' that strange how you mention 'putting the scenes in order?'. Surely they just ARE in order? How can you move them around!

Well, I thought she was on the teen Tinder (which is 14 to 17, I think). Problem with that for girls is that they keep being matched with spotty yoofs who know their brother.... so this Tinder match is 20. This is the first time she's actually ever met anyone, so it's a test case!

Auriga · 14/01/2015 13:10

Happy birthday BD Smile Smile Smile

NUFC69 · 14/01/2015 13:21

I am quite shocked by the article, Rose, I had no idea things were so bad. It's difficult to comprehend when I believe in treating everyone, whatever their faith (or none), colour etc with respect. I have on a rare occasions read of vandalism at the local Jewish cemetery, but the church cemetery is also targeted. I sincerely hope that your DC do not suffer.

Beachy, you must be feeling nervous, too, I should think.

Coq au vin made and bubbling away. We have wine at last.

Hatty, did you buy a copy of Charlie Hebdo?

wordassociationfootball · 14/01/2015 13:55

Hello all. Happy birthday BD! Dates a lovely idea. Follow up on them quick and get DP to sort out the babysitting is my advice Grin

Beachy, I'm doing what Rose is doing with her play with my novel,ie: the story is broadly laid down, but within that structure, there is some movement between the order of events. I have 25,000 words to go on my re-write: 8 Big scenes taking up around two thirds of that. I might just get to the bloody end at this rate.

Rudy, is heartening that your DM is showing such lust for life. My own mum said this Christmas that she hoped it was her lastSad but also Smile but also Confused

Such a blue sky here and I am off into town to a birthday tea party, which will be most delicious as my host is baker/cook extraordinaire. I have a greedy smile on my face.

Sorry for all dc unhappy at school. It's the pits for toute famille.

Me too in awe of Strops and Herbs productivity.

Anyone watching the horizon diet thing? I am a constant craver rather than emotional eater, apparently. Just done the questionnaire here www.bbc.co.uk/guides/z2csfg8

lalsy · 14/01/2015 14:00

The results are shocking and the phone in sounds horrible.

I have just searched and there are some criticisms of the methodology of the CAA survey - for example appealing on twitter to get people to respond to "help the campaign against antisemitism". This from the Institute for Jewish Policy Research www.jpr.org.uk/documents/Perceptions_and_experiences_of_antisemitism_among_Jews_in_UK.pdf presents a different picture and was from July 2014.

What a fantastic idea for birthday presents!

Rosebag · 14/01/2015 14:06

I am intending to catch up on the Horizon thing..my eating is out of control! That questionnaire looks fun…although I might not like the results, of course….
Yes, Beachy WAF…the play writing has definitely not been a linear process. I have a central theme, which has had to be developed though the play along with several additional themes. Then, I had a series of scenes based on my experiences which we wrote although we have one more at least and two which need further work. Then we started to look at the order and continuity, and as the line dips backwards and forwards in time, it was never going to be written in chronological order. The dowside is sometimes we forgot what we've done…. Grin
LBC is back on the case live, now, on the Sheila Forgarty programme. NU LBC is now national so you should be able to get it. It's very complex...

Rosebag · 14/01/2015 14:08

cross post, ranks for the link lalsy ….will read later on. They are criticising the methodology on the radio as I type!

bigTillyMint · 14/01/2015 14:42

Just done your quiz WAF - I am also a constant craver with elements of feaster and emotional eaterGrin There's no hope for me! I have recorded the programme and will watch it when I can get a turn on the TV.

WAF, my friend's DM also seems to have had enough. She is 83, and is a good laugh when she is on form. Maybe it is just the black dog ATM?

bigTillyMint · 14/01/2015 14:45

I am also shocked by that article, Rose. As I am sure my DC would be. I have never come across any anti-Semitism, but maybe that is because we are in an area which is not very popular with Jewish people.

lalsy · 14/01/2015 15:13

Also, Rose, from a quick google, the mainstream press has covered the story in very similar ways - I suspect they have rejigged the press release, without much analysis or digging (or from what I heard this morning - asking about the questions - that would be crucial for a survey like this), because of the timing.

Here is another study that was based on proper random sampling AFAIK, www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2015/01/14/french-have-positive-views-of-both-jews-muslims/. I will stop now Grin.

Rosebag · 14/01/2015 15:40

I am a constant craver with strong element of a feaster and mild emotional eater….I'm like…all of them… Grin

motherinferior · 14/01/2015 15:54

I am now hearing KD Lang singing Constant Craving. There are worse things...

My short stories appear to be cohering into a proto-novel. This is alarming. Quite apart from the elephant that's got in.

CointreauVersial · 14/01/2015 17:00

I must have a go at that questionnaire. I've just eaten a large chunk of goat's cheese to stave off the post-work snackattack, but I'm Constantly Craving something infinitely more sugary and cake-based.

Happy Birthday, BD - what a lovely, thoughtful gift! I bet you were Hmm at the box of dates initially.

MI - talking of pets consuming things they "shouldn't ought", our recently escaped hamster is in disgrace. DS put on his football top yesterday, only to find one of the sleeves shredded with little teeth marks. It seems she amused herself overnight by nibbling the laundry hanging on the rack. Angry

Strops, I often think of your Box Hill connections as I'm thudding over the speedbumps and dodging the bikes of a morning. I have to say, the Zigzag Road is driving me quite literally round the bend. Wink A couple more weeks and the main road reopens, and life gets a little easier.

OP posts:
motherinferior · 14/01/2015 17:27

I'm not impressed with that test. To be fair, that's because I have to devise that kind of thing.

herbaceous · 14/01/2015 17:41

I'm not impressed either. One of the questions was 'are you always hungry', to which I replied 'no, not really', yet I got 61% constant craver. I don't crave, and even if I do, it's not constant. Load of old arse.

Blackduck · 14/01/2015 17:49

I'm none of them so apparently have other issues (like simply being a lazy arse)

I am :( - I know my mum is getting forgetful but it's the first time ever she's not wished me Happy Birthday.... I feel unreasonably hurt.

Thanks for the wishes crepeys - off to write dates on the calander....

Rosebag · 14/01/2015 18:20

Laughing like a drain at pet pica….

Oh BD Sad but I guess she'd be mortified if she realised?

I drive past Box Hill every time I drive to the flat in Sussex….is it the A24 that's closed, CV?

Security levels have been noticeably stepped up at DCs schools. DS says they're having a simulated terrorist attack drill tomorrow…DD has already had one. They have to dive under their desks when the klaxon goes off and the school goes in to lockdown….ah, what times we live in.

As a consolation, I have ordered blouse and another blouse

hattymattie · 14/01/2015 18:46

We have barriers in front of all the schools so nobody can park nearby. Not sure how long that will continue for. School run even more ludicrous than usual.

CointreauVersial · 14/01/2015 18:51

Nice blouses, Rose ("seductive wrapover effect", eh? Wink).

No, not the A24 closed, although, just to compound everyone's misery at the moment they've sprinkled a few cones on one of the roundabouts, so there are massive tailbacks there as well.
And Sad Sad at the security measures at school. Are they at a Jewish school?

OP posts:
NUFC69 · 14/01/2015 18:56

Hatty and Rose, I am aghast at what you both wrote. What sad times we live in. When I go to a local school for my charity meetings we have to go through what I can only describe as a security lock so that the staff can see that we present no threat. Sad

I think I am ready for my visitors - I will be starving by the time we eat at eight.

BD, sorry your DM forgot your birthday - as someone who is retired, though, I can assure you that it's very easy to forget the date.

lalsy · 14/01/2015 18:58

Hatty and Rose Sad.

hattymattie · 14/01/2015 19:01

DS has a teacher over from Boston for a year and asked her what she thought. Apparently in school an over there they have drills in case a gunman runs into the school , with electronic blinds which lock the place down. I'm not sure if this is since the Boston bombing or is normal practice against random shooters.

Rosebag · 14/01/2015 19:31

Yes, CV (having put the 3 DC through the faith system, I do have reservations….) They've been doing terrorist attack drills since Reception Class, poor mites. Hatty how tedious….

Glad they haven't closed the A24…(although DParents got caught Xmas a year ago, in the floods, when they did have to close the A24 and The Burford Bridge Hotel was under water…).

lalsy · 14/01/2015 19:34

Crepeys, on a lighter note, the second version of the cookbook is now live, on the same link as before (I hope). Some yummy cakes, soups and other things have been added - thank you everyone. PM me any more recipes any time if you like Grin.

beachyhead · 14/01/2015 20:00

Could I have a link, Lasly?

Might add my beef cobbler recipe....
