OP posts:

I am in theory very much up for a Cambridge meet up later on... (may not feel the same way if / when ds gets a rejection letter next week) and am happy to spend some money on a hotel!

GeorginaWorsley · 04/01/2015 22:46

Thanks motherinferior
Actually meant to post on another thread Blush
Apologies.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/01/2015 23:18

Back to Style & Beauty - don't you think that this horror would be better suited to the Chums catalogue rather than Boden?

Glad you can make it, Stropps!

QueenQueenie · 04/01/2015 23:21

Is there an echo in here?

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/01/2015 23:29

this looks pretty similar I think?

almost stylish in comparison with Boden.

Must be your phone, QQ. I'm happy to do Cambridge meet up. Have not been since sixth form when misguided teacher selected a small group of us to take us to Girton, to encourage us to apply. It didn't.

lalsy · 04/01/2015 23:49

The "with insert" bit sounds surgical though.....

beachyhead · 05/01/2015 07:04

Good luck this morning, Addle and Stropps dd.

I'm off to work, first day since before Christmas... I spent all day yesterday recovering from a fantastic 50th, which lasted until 2am. I was clearly not in line with the dress code and was the only one without a body con dress on... Sort of underestimated the occasion. Whoops Angry hostess didn't mind, but I felt a bit awkward.

bigTillyMint · 05/01/2015 07:20

Yes, good luck Addle and everyone going back to the grind!

I have a busy day with chores either side of going to and coming home from work (including smear, eeeeuuuuwwwww!) and out tonight.

Did anyone (other than MI!) have a view on "Re the MU, BD suggested the place Cremo organised which was great.
I emailed them and they said upstairs was booked, but they could do a table downstairs and that the buffet option does have a minimum of 15 people but that we could order from the Grazers in advance"?Smile

beachyhead · 05/01/2015 07:28

BTM I liked that place, think we should go for it.

motherinferior · 05/01/2015 08:05

Best of luck, addle!

Have been for brisk walk and am trying to psych self up for work-related activities along with feeding cats, putting washing in machine etc...and doing these two damn 'learning review meetings' at school.

Blackduck · 05/01/2015 08:07

Beachy - body con Hmm I'd definitely look out of place then!

Here we have a TED day so still wallowing in my pit. Homework done with minimum nagging (hooray)

Horrid day yesterday - too much thinking....I see the black dog slinking in my direction so need to shoo him off.

Stropps Grin re 6th - so two 'significant birthdays' to celebrate and at least two others around that time I think (mine - mid Jan, and ?? )

Mulberry bush fine by me, BTM. At our recommendation DP booked an area for his Christmas cousins reunion. It was quite raucous. Hopefully the manager won't out two and two together.

I too have a busy day. Well, compared to yesterday when I sat on my arse all day in a variety of locations - friend's house, train, my settee. DP even cooked dinner. Whereas today I have to send off my assignment, meet a friend for bracing outdoor activity, get DS's hair cut, take down the decorations, get DS's school stuff ready and plan a lesson. There is also, unexpectedly, a choir rehearsal, but I think that may go by the wayside.

MrsSchadenfreude · 05/01/2015 08:28

Good luck Addle!

I have a reprieve until tomorrow before work starts. Smile

Yes to the other place!

NUFC69 · 05/01/2015 09:06

Good luck, Addle, go sock it to 'em.

BD, I cope with this time of year by chopping it into small chunks and having something, however small, to look forward to in each chunk.

Rudy, I bought a denim skirt in the summer and now wear it with navy opaques, a navy top and chunky shoes - it always looks good.

I was feeling smug about DC and holiday homework and then I remembered that I always used to do my essays, etc, at five o'clock on a Monday morning - I must have been a nightmare. Shock

Good luck to those returning to work/school. DS's house is being packed up today ready for the move tomorrow - still not sure whether we are having overnight guests over the next few days. Hmm

Auriga · 05/01/2015 09:24

Good advice, Rudy and NU. Also, the days are getting longer again; I try to pay attention to the small difference every few days.

hattymattie · 05/01/2015 09:25

Addle - good luck in your new job.

Hope you're feeling better Rose.

We are off to the doctors - happily have got early appointments.

bigTillyMint · 05/01/2015 09:25

I have a reprieve too! No heating and only 10 degrees in my roomShockSmile

So MB it is. Shall I order a selection of Grazers? Any preferences? Or anyone want to just tell me what to order?!

bigTillyMint · 05/01/2015 09:27

Hatty, fingers crossed.
And NU good to see that you are feeling better.

motherinferior · 05/01/2015 09:29

I had a terrible Party Incident just before Christmas where I turned up - having been feeling really ropey with a cold - in a huge jumper dress and leggings and everyone else was glammed up to the nines.

BD, the black dog is well-known here too and he has been sniffing hard on my heels recently. I find similar tactics to Rudy's help; I'm personally trying v hard to get back to doing an hour a day of Proper Writing (my own stuff) as I have been beset by gloom about my unachieved life etc etc and I know that putting words on the page makes me feel I have done something (given I wrote an entire damn book and nobody wanted it...). And do talk to us. Even if you just feel you're going round and round in circles. (As dogs do.)

lalsy · 05/01/2015 10:05

Really good advice. I think the lengthening days make such a difference.

MI, I find writing my own stuff very cheering but once I start I cant stop, so I put off starting. I am quite slow (and it is factual and involves lots of reading) so can't get much done in an hour. I am going to try and be more disciplined this year.

MontserratCaballe · 05/01/2015 10:31

Hello lovelies - sorry I have not been around much. Just popping on to wish Addle good luck and to hope things went well with the Drs, Hatty. Bon courage to all going to work for the first time after a long break today. I went in to teach on Saturday, so am feeling a bit easier about it all.

Very sadly, I can't make the MU as I am working the next day. I shall raise a glass to you from my sofa surrounded by work. I will try to organise the Russell Square coffee date with Herbs, Molly, Rose and any other crepey who is free.

Right, I must go to Bromley to weep over Paddington with the children. I hope to catch up with a long post then Smile

motherinferior · 05/01/2015 11:35

Lalsy, I found this very useful some years ago.
