Fab curry with the boys prior to birthday tomorrow. (Dps)

I'm in for 6th - can I add my (non-significant - that was last year) to the celebratory list?

I am thinking lots of nice salads and miso soup in January....

motherinferior · 02/01/2015 21:34

My abstinence bombed with a post-Hobbit risotto, glass of red and then affrogato with a shot of frangelico. DP and I had to force the girls into eating out (we were at the O2 cinema) but both of us were feeling headily 'sod it'.

I would like to do MU. It is the Friday after DD1's 14th and I will probably have to spend the previous w/e with my mum - my sister says please can I cover it so she can nip home for a sanity-saving break...so will let you know nearer date.

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/01/2015 21:37

It will be my SIGNIFICANT BIRTHDAY that week too...

And Stropps's is around then too, I think?

MrsSchadenfreude · 02/01/2015 21:42

You can't eat salad and Miso soup in January, BD! You need lots of rib sticking thick soups and dumplings to keep out the cold. Grin Lots of root veg in the soups and some nice barley too. Warming and not too calorific.

And a nice hot pudding to follow. With custard.

motherinferior · 02/01/2015 21:58

I must soup those lingering parsnips DP bought in a fit of seasonal parsnip love.

bigTillyMint · 02/01/2015 22:06

MI, I can recommend a recipe to use up the parsnips! I fried up some onion with curry paste, chopped them up and bunged them in with some brown lentils and cooked them through. The resulting curry was deliciousGrin In fact, I will be making it again, asap!

Bum, I can't make the weekend of the 6th as we are away. Poo, would like to raise a glass to celebrate end of dry Jan and any crepey birthdays.

I have eaten too much things-in-the-fridge pasta. Should probably do the miso soup thing as well, since I do not dare step on the scales. Am back to keep fit on Monday and determined to find a new pilates class so that I can scoop my belly up off the floor by March. So far the only health improvement I have made in 2015 is to drink lots of water. Baby steps...

MollyAir · 02/01/2015 22:35

Hooray, I can do Feb 6th!

I'll join you on the Dry January, too.

QueenQueenie · 02/01/2015 22:37

BTM do you want me to pick up a a pair of gloves in Muji for you? There is a Muji 5 mins walk from me... Just tell me what sort and I will.

NUFC69 · 03/01/2015 06:47

I love the new bag, BTM - don't know what I like best, the shape or colour.

Well done on the new job, Addle, and good luck for Monday.

I will one day get to a MU, but have a good time in my absence and raise lots of glasses to the birthday girls.

The cheesecake recipe sounds lovely - I guess it doesn't freeze, MrsS? I should have time to send you the banana and peanut butter cake recipe today, Lalsy. DD gave me a lovely recipe book by Rachel Allen full of sweet treats for Christmas - I can't wait to try it out.

hattymattie · 03/01/2015 08:55

Banana and peanut butter cake sounds like heaven but even fatter than the cheesecake!

I love the bag too BTM - I'd love to go more daring with my colours but I need to combine with different coats and I'm not very good at changing handbags - I need one to grab and go.

MI - DS is like those about going out - I think he just wants to get back to his computer.

Had an rant yesterday about each child sitting alone in their room doing their thing. I sometimes don't think their is any point in them being here. At least when I was young we all used to watch some trash on TV as a family.

bigTillyMint · 03/01/2015 09:20

QQ, that's very kind, but I called into the Ox St one before I jumped on the bus yesterday, so I am all kitted out!

The bag is the perfect shape IMHO, but it is VERY bright! Definitely cheering, and no one will miss itGrin

Hatty, we are having the opposite problem - DC stuck to our sides/the sofa most of the timeGrin It had mostly been very lovely though.

Wilbur, shame you can't make it. And NU and Hatty. Maybe we could find a date in the spring for another - perhaps at the hotel Rose had her eye on? Would that work for the out-of-Londoners?

NUFC69 · 03/01/2015 09:34

Sounds like a good idea to me, BTM. I assume you mean the Doubletree at Cambridge? We stayed in the one just below Sheffield before Christmas and it really was excellent. Anyway, something to think about for the spring.

I am desultorily tidying/taking down the decs: still exhausted so it's do something for ten minutes/sit for ten. DH and I have decided we're going out to the Italian for lunch later - I missed so many nice meals.

bigTillyMint · 03/01/2015 09:43

Yes, I was thinking the Cambridge one! Out-of-Londoners, you need to give us possible datesWink

And good to hear the one below Sheff is good - might try that one next Twixmas!

Italian sounds good, though I'm trying to not think about food. Or drink - am going to have to hold my nerve tonight at neighbours!

motherinferior · 03/01/2015 10:17

Oh god am finally up and MUST do some work.

NU, I interviewed Rachel A briefly last year - for the same mag for which I interviewed you!- and she was a sweetie.

CointreauVersial · 03/01/2015 11:25

In PJs, eating the last of the Panettone for breakfast. DCs still in their pits (at least one still asleep). The entire family has turned almost nocturnal.

Monday morning is going to be a nightmare, isn't it?

Anyway, decs will come down today, and I am planning a wardrobe declutter, as I'm struggling to get anything into it at the moment. The eBay pile groweth ever taller...

OP posts:
motherinferior · 03/01/2015 11:35

Agree about Monday.

DP elbow deep in computer again, in manner of James Herriot (everything is backed up and copied so no major worries). I must be supportive and make soupConfused.

This cold and cough get worse when I Ladyjog. I wish they would just go away. Sick of feeling under par! NU, hope you are now properly on mend?

bigTillyMint · 03/01/2015 11:51

CV and MI, I was just dreading it a moment ago as both mine are still in bed.

Still, they have an Inset day on MondayWink

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/01/2015 12:23

I have just made banana, coconut and cherry muffins with some elderly bananas. DD1 is working in the charity shop today, DD2 and I are supposed to be going into town... but she is still in bed.

Please persuade me that this is hideous. I need to make my wardrobe more interesting, but not sure this is the way to do it...

lalsy · 03/01/2015 12:23

NU glad you are feeling a bit better. And yes please to you or anyone with more recipes. Just PM me them and I will update the file when I have a few. Hungarian cheesecake looks delicious and is on the list ??.

I cant do 6 Feb sadly but hope birthday girls and others have a lovely time.

I escaped from my darling family this morning. Bliss.

motherinferior · 03/01/2015 12:30

MrsS, NO. You are going in for Baggy Things again. They will swamp your glorious bosoms curves. NO.

MrsSchadenfreude · 03/01/2015 12:47

bigTillyMint · 03/01/2015 12:52

I am going to try your red cabbage recipe this afternoon, MrsS!

And I was just about to say, don't you think it's too big? Listen to MI!
