Pandering to the uncouth... Grin

Off to DP's aged rellies soon. Have however got over the mild hangover with which I ended yesterday (and fat chance of getting one today).

bigTillyMint · 27/12/2014 09:24

Stropps, glad to hear your DD is/was feeling better. BD, sorry to hear about the rash/bites/whatever - hope it is bed bugs and not something catching!

Had our party last night - lots of bottles in the binXmas Shock and the gingerbread house got decimated (thank God!) Quiet day planned here. Can't believe we are halfway through our holidaysXmas Sad

MontserratCaballe · 27/12/2014 10:31

BD, could it be fleas? Our cat had them in the summer and DS was the only one who got bitten (sadly all over, not just on legs). Hope you get it sorted.

I have made passive aggressive pancakes and now am about to go for an aggressive ladyjog. MIL is staying til tomorrow, when we go off to see my folks until Tuesday. Precious little time this hol has been spend on a sofa, idly turning the pages of a novel. Not Happy.

wilbur · 27/12/2014 10:55

Monty - I have a Christmas like that every other year, too many people and no downtime whatsoever, but this is one of my off years, so it's been bliss. I read my copy of Grand Designs magazines from cover to cover (fascinating article on different kinds of plasterboard Xmas Grin) and will be watching a dvd of my choice later. Might make the children do their thank you letters while I am supine, just to increase my sense of smug happiness.

However, before you all chuck stuff at me, I will have to start the great pack up the house for the builders at some point this week, so it's not all vegging out. There are boxes in the hall, waiting.

cremolafoam · 27/12/2014 11:48

Ooh Wilbur , when does the building work start?
The movers boxes have arrived here at work too- we are moving lock stock and barrel to another building come Jan 1st Confused. I have thrown a few files into a plastic crate in a desultory manner this morning. Just not feeling the love todayGrin
Work is kind of like Christmas never happened , and the city centre is like some kind of obscene smash and grab. All vile. I am weeping internally for my fireside and a decent crime novel. Grin

Stropps , I'm wondering about shingles too. She would feel generally unwell and bruised all over , as well as the rash. Can you get to an OOH gp today? If she has shingles she'll need aciclovir pronto .
Hope she's a bit better today , poor love.

cremolafoam · 27/12/2014 12:16

A little anxious about NU. Hope she's ok...Smile

Blackduck · 27/12/2014 12:34

Here I am deep cleaning the kitchen and utility....

bigTillyMint · 27/12/2014 12:55

Ooh Wilbur, I bet your house will be gorgeous - I somehow seem to be following you on Pinterest and you have impeccable taste!

Cremo, just what you need after your busy Christmas. Not.

Yes, NU, hope you are OK.

BDXmas Shock That is impressive! Our cleaner came yesterday - perfect for before the party, but I have been doing a bit of hoovering this morning and DD is wailing about the state of her room (all the older teens seemed to be crammed in there much of the time). She has not pushed the hoover round in years - maybe today is the day?!

DS is off to kick a ball around with his mates and I am planning to not do much, despite DH offering to go for a walk!

cremolafoam · 27/12/2014 13:29

We will be needing a brand new thread shortly.
Inspiration needed

Things I Did Not Say Today:

Talking of Swallows and Amazons, did you know Arthur Ransome was a Trotskyist?

No, of course I am not remotely interested in cars and cannot imagine anything short of major neurological intervention which might alter this.

This lasagne is, as ever, excellent. However, can I ask why we always have boiled veg with it and not salad?

I don't want a cup of tea but I could murder another glass of the prosecco we brought.

motherinferior · 27/12/2014 16:45

Oh, and I was a whizz at knitting feminist symbols and CND symbols into my fair isle once upon a time.

I've been arrested, you know.

QueenQueenie · 27/12/2014 16:50

MI did you hear that brilliant R4 programme about someone's memories of Greenham? Probably still available on iplayer. Very nostalgic. Were any of you Crepeys at 'Embrace the Base'? That's when I was nearly arrested... Happy days. Grin

QueenQueenie · 27/12/2014 16:53

Oh and one of my best Christmas presents was a book of kniting patterns for dog clothes / accessories. That's going to be my new hobby for 2015.

See images here

I'm planning to start with the bee outfit for ddog.

motherinferior · 27/12/2014 16:58

Oh yes I was!

hattymattie · 27/12/2014 17:03

Hello ladies. Have had a walk in the forest this morning followed by a session at the pre sales this afternoon. Have had a sort of Pretty Woman clothes trying on session with DD1 and she has come out with a rather nice cocktail dress - although she could have bought three!

I'm feeling exhausted now and am heading for wine.Wine

We finally went to see the Hobbit last night and am feeling disgruntled at certain beloved childhood characters not being portrayed correctly.

NU - I do hope you have recovered from your illness.

I have just been summoned to make red cabbage - so I'm going to try Mrs S's recipe.

Wineand flopping in a corner will have to wait.

motherinferior · 27/12/2014 17:09

I'm hoping NU is being plied with lovely food cooked by her son-in-law and being adored by grandchildren...

bigTillyMint · 27/12/2014 17:11

QQ, if you get stuck, I'm happy to help with knitting advice!

I never went to Greenham common, but I did go on a couple of student/miners marches. I wasn't even nearly arrestedGrin

DD has gone into a nother decline after attempting to do some art homework. On the sewing machine. Oh how I hate sewing machinesAngry

Blackduck · 27/12/2014 17:25

CND matches here - face is on a file somewhere....

Hitchens and utility clean(er) and Dp put up my maid hanging thing (mucho swearing involved).

I said I didn't want to drink today but am now craving a pint...

I am also very glad my Secret Satan went down well :)

Blackduck · 27/12/2014 17:25

Marches!

MollyAir · 27/12/2014 17:34

BTM, don't suppose dd could knit her art homework? Solidarity from me re hatefulness of sewing machines.

QQ, I heard that R4 programme - took me right back. MI - I didn't know Arthur Ransome was a Trot - what did he do about it?

QQ, if I send you ddog's inside leg measurements, might you make him a little costume? Grin

MrsSchadenfreude · 27/12/2014 17:54

BD - were you my Secret Satan??

OP posts:
motherinferior · 27/12/2014 17:58

I believe he was actually a spy...

As my pant hints fell on deaf ears shall I treat myself to a pair (ignoring bank account)?

Blackduck · 27/12/2014 18:03

Nope MrsS - it was not a literal 'went down well'
