Stropps - much strength tomorrow.

Rosebag · 04/12/2014 18:51

Grin Herbs…I was too busy trying to hold the mobile phone straight to film it. The thing that really made me fill up was seeing DS surrounded by lovely friends from his various music ensembles. He was such a lonely child, especially at primary school because he didn't like footie. I used to worry so much about it…it just shows, we need to be patient and let them develop at their own pace. Why the hurry, I keep asking myself these days. Your little man's panto trip sounds interesting… why not bring him to see Peter Pan at our lovely theatre sometime…?
MI I wonder, is your DD getting hungry and low blood sugar? Both my two get tearful and overly dramatic and it's taken me years to realise they need to eat.
I am ashamed but we've just taken delivery of pizza. DH is at another one of his industry dinners, so it's just me and DCs. I'm pooped…it took me an hour and a half to get back from somewhere that should have taken 40 mins max. Bad Mummy, who is on a low carb holiday, for one night only.

bigTillyMint · 04/12/2014 19:07

Well DS persuaded us to let him go to training tonight, which meant that I then had to spend half an hour sitting in the car after dropping him, waiting for DD to finish with her maths tutor. Let's hope he wasn't feeling prematurely recovered.

BD, fingers crossed you'll be able to make it tomorrow. Am really looking forward to a festive cocktail!

cremolafoam · 04/12/2014 19:11

I'm ok that's Crepsters. Just really tired. I have taken today ( since after lunch) orf and am on sofa with cats and the fire roaring. Off tomorrow too.
This is the biggest weekend of the year for us with 14 yes ( XIV) events over 2 days. I am steeling myself for the marathon and intend only to be a ghostly presence , there , but unavailable, IYSWIM . I will deal with issues onlyGrin

cremolafoam · 04/12/2014 19:12

That's = thanks. Ffs

bigTillyMint · 04/12/2014 19:14

Good plan, CremoSmile

herbaceous · 04/12/2014 19:39

FOURTEEN events? Merciful lord.

QueenQueenie · 04/12/2014 19:55

Fourteen? 14? XIV?

wilbur · 04/12/2014 23:04

Rose - your post about your piano-playing ds being lonely at primary really caught my attention. I also have a sensitive non-football playing ds1 who struggled a lot with the sporty boy hierarchy at school - it's only now, in Y9, that I can see him starting to find his place, bridging the boys and girls in his class (love the girls, they bring him out of himself). There's still a way to go, but it's lovely to hear of your ds finding his gang and place in life. Great FB video too. Smile

Crem - sorry about late night bus marathon. I've done a few of those recently, and on one occasion forgot to pick up the car that I had cleverly left en route so I had to go back out again. Angry

Have just done dd's Christmas concert and met some of her classmates for he first time. Really great music, but I was mainly pleased to see the majority of her Y7 female choir members were mash-ups between the younger girls in St Trinians and your traditional blue-stocking types, all uncombed hair, wonky skirts and paint splats on their sleeves. Ds1's Y7 class had some terrifying glamourpusses in it so I'm glad that dd is not yet surrounded by lipgloss and flicky hair.

Must go to bed - knackered.

cremolafoam · 05/12/2014 00:05

14 events, yes, including a pantomime several times over.
(Oh yes we have)

Night crepies

Blackduck · 05/12/2014 07:17

Another non footie playing Ds here.... Seems to muddle through.....

bigTillyMint · 05/12/2014 07:58

Re: non-footy playing DS's, I think it has quite a lot to do with the make-up of the year group - in DD's year, they were all footy mad and it was very difficult for non-footyers, but in DS's year there were barely enough to scrape together to make a team, so much less of a problem for the non-footy boys (but my DS really missed the boys from DD's year when they left!).

Thinking of you StroppsFlowers

MontserratCaballe · 05/12/2014 08:34

Thinking of you today, lovely Stropps Flowers

Crem, your weekend sounds exhausting - look after yourself.

Am shattered after a huge week at work. Fortunately DH has taken the children to school so I am home alone and waiting for personal trainer to put me through my paces. First time in 4 weeks since my back injury. Hope I can still do it.

Back later for a proper catch up.

motherinferior · 05/12/2014 09:08

Stropps, Flowers here too.

Rudy and Crem, look after yourselves.

Our concert could have been worse Wink though the church was SO COLD. I refrained prudently from going to the pub and caught the train home. Whereupon DP pointed out there was a bottle of Prosecco open from friends who'd been round earlier and poured me a large glass and I sat on the sofa in the warm with a novel and I may have had another large glass too Blush. As a result I did not Ladyjog. Again. Normal service will, I hope, be resumed next week.

Rose, low blood sugar might well play a part with DD2. She doesn't eat much usually - just about enough to keep her skinny little frame going!

cremolafoam · 05/12/2014 09:17

Team Stropps Thanks

NUFC69 · 05/12/2014 09:20

Stropps, good wishes from me, too. Be kind to yourself and DD.

I hope Crem, Rudy and Monty are all ok today (or at least feeling a bit better).

MI, the lady jogging can wait. I hope you haven't caught anything from being in a freezing church. I expect they expected you to warm up with all the singing.

I am waiting for DGD2 to arrive for the day - am tired already as I have made tonight's dinner and done a bit of tidying up. I always find that it is the days when the house looks a tip and the loo wants cleaning that I have unexpected visitors, hence the tidying so no one calls.

We had a lovely meal at the Biscuit Factory yesterday: I think it's my new favourite place. I hope everyone enjoys the MU this evening.

CointreauVersial · 05/12/2014 10:02

Ohhh, my head hurts...

Vast quantities of red wine, and some rather vigorous dancing to a cheesy ABBA tribute band does not make one feel bright and sunny in the morning. So I decided it would be wise to use up one of my remaining days off and stay in bed today. The Christmas Party was excellent, thank goodness, and the first day of the Seminar went swimmingly, so they can jolly well do without me today. I will make it this evening, but might stay off the pop (we have another party tomorrow, heaven help me).

Sorry you can't make it, Rudy, but it sounds like a sensible decision. This is such a long slog, this time of year; the Christmas break can't come soon enough. The DCs are exhausted; DD1 has a breakout of eczema all over her face, DS could barely put one foot in front of the other this morning (after about four hours of football yesterday, including an important school match down in Winchester, which was lost on penalties, Sad his DofE session coaching Y6s, and regular training for his Saturday team. Yes, I have a footballer Grin).

In (not very) Stylish or Beautiful news, I have ordered varifocals! My contact lenses work fine, but whenever I wear my glasses I have to do that old-lady "peer" over/under them whenever I want to read something. If I try to multitask (watch TV while MNing, for example) the glasses are up and down like a tart's knickers. Exhausting.

motherinferior · 05/12/2014 10:41

I have received either my Crepey secret Santa, or my MN one (vastly to my surprise I was nominated). Er...thank you very much if it was one of you lot; am keeping it to open till Christmas!

Rosebag · 05/12/2014 12:45

Sounds like a great night out CV! I'm afraid I do that old lady peering over the reading glasses, and the on-off-on-off…"where's my effing glasses" routine. It's the pits but I'm too vain to wear specs all the time hence no varifocals (yet…it's only a matter of time).

MI the worst thing with my two is that they don't actually know they're hungry and I sometimes have the devils own job to get them to eat something…God knows how one would manage it in class. Well done for coping with the perishing church. Clearly you deserved your drinkies after wards.

Linking arms will all footie- hating Ds's mothers. DS1 wasn't like that at all. I wouldn't have said football was his sport…he's more athletics/swimming/basketball, but he played enough playground football to keep him in with the crowd. DS2 was so lonely after the genders polarised, around year 3 and the girls didn't want to know him anymore either. Thank heavens for his secondary school. It's so bloody huge (however weird you are, there's a friend out there for you somewhere) and they're so hot on bullying of any kind that he really found his niche. My niece who has just joined in year 7 has mild Aspergers, and my DSisIL was so worried about her…but I saw her at the music concert on Wed night on 'microphone duty' having a ball because she felt included, in a little group of others doing the tech support.

But I also agree with tilly …whatever the masses are doing leaves you out if you don't like it, or there aren't others like you.

Reeling at Cremo's 14 events!!! and wishing you strength.

Similarly Thanks and hugs to Stropps today.

wilbur I love what you describe about the yr 7 choir your DD sings in…I love seeing all sorts brought together though the love of singing!

Thanks all for the lovely comments about DS2's piano. He's on a bit of a high. It's great to see.

I am now rushing like a maniac to get Fri night dinner sorted early…at 4pm we have our first "reading" of my play. I am shaking like a leaf…Shock but very excited too.

CointreauVersial · 05/12/2014 13:15

Good luck, Rosebag.

I'm still in bed. Blush

MontserratCaballe · 05/12/2014 13:20

Good luck for the reading, Rose.

Hope you feel better soon, CV.

Am in ikea looking for knobs for my kitchen. They don't have enough of the one I wabt, plus there is a huge queue to get out. Kill me now.

MollyAir · 05/12/2014 13:22

Stropps, adding my thoughts to those of others. Thanks

motherinferior · 05/12/2014 13:48
