Here we go Wine

NUFC69 · 03/12/2014 22:23

I hope that you are enjoying the tea and toast, Crem, it's not a night to be standing around outside.

Rose, did you enjoy the performance?

cremolafoam · 03/12/2014 22:24

This thread has it all:
Fake lashes to ukeleles.
Dear help anyone lurking trying to keep up.Grin

My car was parked outside city centre because parking is now bonkers because of Xmas shoppers.
My great plan was to drive to suburb, take bus to work and do the same in reverse. Didn't reckon on being alone, in the dark , in the cold, on a freezing December night. The Plan wasn't very good really. Duh

CointreauVersial · 03/12/2014 22:42

I cannot comprehend being unable to drive. I drive everywhere.

Work has been ridiculous this week, but the conference I've been organising kicks off tomorrow, followed by our Christmas party in the evening, so I'll be able to relax a little. I just need to make sure the relief doesn't lead to unwise overconsumption of alcohol (I have form for this). Blush

MollyAir · 03/12/2014 23:06

I'm trying to drive less - when I use public transport, I meet loads of people I know, and I end up running a fair bit because of being late. I arrive rosy-cheeked and puffing.

This has nothing to do with me having pranged a parked car last week. Oh no.

Auriga · 03/12/2014 23:23

Thank you to my Secret Santa for a beautifully-wrapped & thoughtful present Smile.

I've made a decision and booked a cottage not too far from York for New Year. And tickets for the justly famous York pantomime Grin Grin. We'll have a break, a change of scene & the chance to see family without being on top of them. And we will guarantee DMum a lift back in time for her cataract operation.

herbaceous · 03/12/2014 23:24

My 'manor' is shortly to be the beneficiary of a load of 'mini-holland' funding, to make it tebly naice for cyclists and walkers and the like, meaning lots of blocked off roads. It will be lovely, but as you can imagine is attracting a veritable shitstorm of nimbys, complaining it will take them AT LEAST two minutes longer to get to Waitrose [autocorrect tried to change this to waitress - MN, sort out your algorithms] every other Friday, and failing to see the bigger picture.

Meaning that I shall be driving less, as short journeys - such as the school run - will take longer than walking. Which I dare say is the plan. So, I have just fixed lights and a basket to my bike, and bought a smart card that admits it to the cycle shed at the station. Go me.

Rosebag · 03/12/2014 23:45

Oh cripes, cremo what an awful journey! and you not being better yet from the lurgy. I certainly hope you're fast asleep by now.

Thanks all....we have had a night of loveliness as anticipated. Have put DSs performance of BoRhap on fb although it's an awful mobile phone recording. It was a very special night for him. It was DNeph who plays in the ukulele band...they go to the same school. I was grinning from ear to ear...they're really lovely, just about 15 kids all strumming away tunefully. I think most school music depts have a ukulele band these days, don't they?
Cottage for new year sounds nice auriga
herbs go you indeed. Smile
I must get some sleep. Will send my SS off by the end of the week. Nite.

MollyAir · 03/12/2014 23:47

Well done, Herbs. Smart card/cycle shed arrangement sounds v good.

bigTillyMint · 04/12/2014 06:53

Rudy, how on earth did you fall upon that bit of news?!

Glad to hear you are safe Cremo - hope you have a better plan for today!

I don't drive much at all now unless it's ferrying a DC (and that's usually less than a couple of miles) - walking/bus/train is far more relaxing! Go Herbs!

Auriga, York for New Year sounds lovelySmile

Rose, I can't see/hear your DS's performanceSad Maybe your settings need adjusting? I don't think the DC's school have a uke band although they have an amazing music department. However, as my DC are not musical, they may well do and I just don't know about it!

lalsy · 04/12/2014 07:54

BTM, that's all we use the car for, and that's mainly ds. And going to the dump. We keep thinking we'll get rid of it and use streetcar things but where would we keep our vast welly collection? No room for them on bikes.

Auriga, that sounds perfect.

Off to check FB, Rose.

I reckon my manor would like to be a mini-Holland.

Rosebag · 04/12/2014 08:12

DS has changed his facebook settings temporarily so friends of friends should be able to see the video now Tilly It's a poor recording and he made a couple of slips but we're all basking in a glow of family pride. A little glowing light in the shite which is parenting teens…we need to hang on to these moments. Actually my best moment was when the head of Music came and gave DS a huge cuddle. Ah, bless. Sorry to rabbit on about it!
I am off on a study day with no parking, so I have to leave the car half way and bus/tube it from there. Laters, lovely Crepeys x

lalsy · 04/12/2014 08:16

Rose, it works now, that's wonderful, you must be busting with pride!

motherinferior · 04/12/2014 08:32

Have been to DD2's parents' evening. She is allegedly doing very well. But I'm still trying to explain to her teachers just what a complete tearful state she gets into - her drama teacher, actually, v perceptive bloke, realised she was in fact on verge of tears in his session (it was the last and she was v tired) and told us her entire class is full of high-octane emotion (I know at least one of the girls doing this, major mind-games merchant). She says she keeps out of this but I do wish she could be with some phlegmatic, kindly types....

I have to bash keys and then sing in a concert today. Oh gawd. I am keeping up with everything but at the expense of Ladyjogging and doing my own writing.

bigTillyMint · 04/12/2014 08:58

Lalsy, I keep thinking of using that StreetCar thing when DH has the car (most of the time) to ferry DS to matches, but never get round to it.

Rose, your DS was fabulous - have your proud mummy moment!

MI, DD and her mate are real drama queens - not without reason at times - thankfully the third mate is very down-to-earth and tries to keep them grounded! And both of mine are exhausted. DS is infact off sick today with that cold/flu bug that's going round. He is NEVER off sick!

cremolafoam · 04/12/2014 09:41

I passed out just after getting home.
( decided not to go out 'on the rob' last night as I probably have enough fake tan and eyelashes to keep me going for a whileGrin)
Rudy, the Belfast Telegraph is full of stories like this.must have been a mother slow news day. NI is so small, that stuff will be on a market stall nearby this week.
I once had my car broken into. It was full of bags of washing I was taking to dmums to wash. All nicked.
Two weeks later I was at the variety market and all my gear was for sale on the stall for pence.AngryGrin

Dad already been on the phone about mums pressie , and could I organise something.... Here we go....

NUFC69 · 04/12/2014 10:41

It is at times like this, Rose, that I wish I was on Facebook. I think that you're allowed a proud mum moment. Good luck with the parking.

Crem, am aghast at the stolen washing scenario. I hope you have a better time today.

BTM, you mean DS isn't suffering from man flu?

Auriga, the cottage sounds lovely: DS sometimes stays in cottages in a forest somewhere near York, is it something similar? I know that there are hot tubs on the patios - not sure I could cope with that in the winter, but they do.

DH has just gone to post my SS which DGD2 helped me to wrap. She goes back to her dad at 11.45 so that we can go out for lunch.

We still have two cars and vaguely debate about going down to one, especially as mine just stays in the garage for most of the winter. No use having a coupe in Northumberland, particularly a German one which doesn't like snow and ice.

MrsSchadenfreude · 04/12/2014 10:44

Did you buy it back, Crem?

I am utterly exhausted - am currently working from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm, can't sleep, like a zombie and making silly mistakes. I am hiding at home this morning (will go in, in a bit) - have done an interminable teleconference from here, and about to hit "cannot cope." Next Friday it will all be over, thankfully.

Rose - your son was amazing!

Where has Addle vanished to? Is she coming on Friday?

motherinferior · 04/12/2014 10:45

Crem, that is NOT GOOD. Can you go off poorlybad for the rest of the week?

Must. Keep. Going. Do not want to keep going. Must also think about Christeffingblindingmas....

RudySad Hope you're OK

Cremo, hope you're looking after yourself today.

DS just texted me to say he has just woken up and his throat is hurting and his nose blocked!

lalsy · 04/12/2014 13:50

Addle is coming on Friday MrsS and is looking forward to it, she's just been a tad busy.

Crem and Rudy, hope you are both OK.

I only have half an internet so not read everything but, straight to the inessential, we camped ina Forestry Commission place once and it was lovely. A cottage/hot tub would have been even better.....

Blackduck · 04/12/2014 14:23

Cremo - hope you are okay!

I am hoping my plans for tomorrow don't go adrift - but like Rudy if they do I'll transfer some dosh to MrsS..... (I have a leaking radiator that needs sorting so all depend when he arrives/how quick he is.)

bigTillyMint · 04/12/2014 14:31

Well DS being off sick has it's uses - the dishwasher man came early and has fixed itSmile

Rosebag · 04/12/2014 16:49

Rudy is everything ok?
Wish DS better Tilly.
I am on a bus in heinous traffic going nowhere fast trying to get home from study day. Said study day had its good points but oh the group dynamics. I was all ready to stuff a well inflated birth ball in a particular participant's mouth.... I mean, I know I can talk for England but even I have my limits. Grin

herbaceous · 04/12/2014 17:37

Rose! I've just watched your lovely boy playing, and it brought tears to my eyes. God knows how you weren't stretchered off. Just brilliant.

DS has just got back from his KS1 panto trip with his school. The coach was 30 minutes late, so I pity all the poor teachers and parents who went with them. All six coach-loads! I have been getting a fairly garbled plot summary of Sleeping Beauty...
