Here we go Wine

OP posts:
cremolafoam · 25/11/2014 13:51

Well I didn't completely mess it up I hope. Still it was one of those ones where the panel were completely oblivious to my charms and bounciness. More like a Stasi interrogation. Very much doubt I got it. Wink
Now I need to attend to all things Christmassy . Because of being distracted I have Done NothingShock

bigTillyMint · 25/11/2014 14:01

GP didn't have a Scooby what is wrong with my finger. Unlikely to be Raynauld's as it's still purpleConfused

Cremo, fingers crossed - when will you hear?

Rosebag · 25/11/2014 15:22

I'm sure you didn't mess up, Cremo well done for enduring, whatever the outcome! Wine
Concerned about MI and hoping it passes. I have to admit to being a right pussy about going to exotic places because of my stomach. It would ruin everything, if I got that sick. A few years back we all went on a trip in the middle east with the extended family, DBIL had an orgy of eating beef carpaccio and other raw delicacies. God knows how we got him on the plane, he was that bilious. (Love that word…my grandmother used to say it). And ill for weeks afterwards. Not for me, oh no. BD that's quite a story.
Tilly is the GP referring you on? I don't suppose it could be bruising, could it? (silly question, sorry)
I am home now and pacing around about tonight and fannying

about on MN

bigTillyMint · 25/11/2014 15:28

Yes Fingers crossed MI doesn't get dysentery and have to be hospitalised like what happened to me 20odd years ago. Thankfully no plane diversions were needed!

My lovely colleagues have looked at my finger and no one knows what it is! GP is not referring me on. She just said come back if it gets worse. Since it took 3 weeks to get that appointment, I don't hold out much hope!

herbaceous · 25/11/2014 17:11

What ho crepeys.

Much drama on the group dynamic front today. Nervy loon fellow teacher left the class in tears today, having thoroughly confused the learners who were moaning that they didn't know what to do. I went out to try and talk her down, and to persuade her to go and get some fresh air, but she was determined to get back in and overcome. Fair play to her, she did, but not entirely sure she's cut out for teaching.

In yesterday's lecture much group dynamics also. Sat next to man with some kind of severe RSI that prevents him writing notes as the nerves in his arm are knackered, so he has an elaborate voice recording set of kit taking up most of the table. And insists on dragging his disability into every conversation. He also drinks gallons of diet coke. I pointed out it's been associated with nerve damage. Probably shouldn't have done.

hattymattie · 25/11/2014 17:43

Hello everybody - I have been off decorating gingerbread houses. This involves a lot of sweets and I have been reasonably restrained in my consumption of licorice allsorts.

Crem - glass of wine Winefor getting through your presentation.

Feel sorry for MI - hope it clears up soon and doesn't wreck her holiday.

Mrs S - I had a very nice American lady asking me about a schools in Surrey which does the IB. That wouldn't be where your daughter is? If it is could you PM me the name? She's looking to move to the UK from Paris to join her husband but doesn't want A levels for her children.

hattymattie · 25/11/2014 17:44

X post - Herbs - you sound like you're taking control of the situation.Grin

cremolafoam · 25/11/2014 18:20

Goodness Herbs, that's kinda awkward. Well done you for bringing some Crepey common sense to the situation
How's the decorating going Hatty?

Poor old MI. Very worrying that she's so poorly and all aloneSad

beachyhead · 25/11/2014 18:52

Good luck tonight, Rose.....rise above it and do not give in to Maestro's pleas

OP posts:
herbaceous · 25/11/2014 19:04

Was it NU who was going to meet a friend in York for Christmas shopping? Because a teacher at my college is off up to York to meet a friend for Christmas shopping! Could it be the same friend?

IN S&B news, I treated myself to some new day AND night cream. For a princely £2 each, courtesy of Lidl.

Also braved the Clarks factory outlet shop, near college, in the hope of some bargain loafers to transform my wardrobe. Sadly lacking.

MontserratCaballe · 25/11/2014 19:18

Rose, I hope tonight goes ok. 3 more to go. Hang on in there.

Rosebag · 25/11/2014 20:06

Thank you Beachy, monty and all crepeys. I'm going in....

herbaceous · 25/11/2014 20:27

You don't need the drama llama, Rose. She'll be sorry.

MrsSchadenfreude · 25/11/2014 20:43

I spent today saying, well if you wanted X, Y and Z to come to this conference, perhaps you should have invited them several months ago.

Have PM'd you, Hatty.

NUFC69 · 25/11/2014 20:45

Good luck, Rose. You know you can do it.

Herbs, yes I am going to York, but it was with DD; unfortunately she is not now allowed a day off and I am having to take DH instead. Sad

I am just about to take myself off to bed as I am so tired. I know I have said it before, but how do these 60 yo cope with having babies? I am pretty sure that I didn't put in so much effort with my own DC!

I have just received a sales brochure from Wrap; I love their things and they have some great reductions on knitwear, plus a lovely leather jacket.

CointreauVersial · 25/11/2014 22:38

Go for it, NU. Flex that plastic!

And well done, Crem, sounds like you gave it your best.

Nothing much to report here...no progress on bathroom, but builder has promised he will come round tomorrow afternoon. Meanwhile, the toilet in the remaining bathroom is starting to misbehave. Angry

DH has been for a blood test to look for markers for arthritis. He has had a lot of joint pain/weakness over the last couple of years and I'm sorry to say I haven't been particularly sympathetic. He is just starting to get those "bloody hell, I'm getting old" realisations that I have been fending off ever since the menopause kicked in. He's younger than me.

bigTillyMint · 25/11/2014 23:30

On the favourite bus route home after seeing Paloma Faith in the Hammersmith Apologies with DD. She has an amazing voice! And the place was full of crepeys (plus some DHs) - who'd have known?!

Rosebag · 26/11/2014 08:05

In the event, we just carried on as normal…this is fairly typical of Maestro…I'm not going back on it this time, although it's a pity about the room full of lovely people who are otherwise, great friends. Sad

My Nordstrom parcel has just arrived…childishly excited Grin

NUFC69 · 26/11/2014 08:34

Well done, Rose. That's the only way.

CV, fingers crossed about the bathroom. Sorry to hear about DH. I find it interesting that, mostly, women just cope with their aches and pains because they have had so much experience since they started menstruation, whilst men get to middle age and start making a fuss over the things we have been putting up with for years. Disclaimer - this doesn't apply to my DH, oh no.

Off to see our financial adviser this afternoon and hoping that it's not too depressing as we helped both DC with their house purchases this year. Not that we gave them huge sums before you all think we must be really well off. I just know that it was enough to make me feel poor which was stupid. DH thought they might as well have it now than when we're dead.

Stropperella · 26/11/2014 10:12

Auriga, wow!! about your dd's accomplishments. How lovely to have offspring who do something so worthwhile with their time. Am also much Envy of Rose's ds2 and his musical talents.

Rose, well done for sticking to your guns.

CV, sorry to hear about bathroom stress and the other loo doesn't buckle under the strain, as it were. Grin

Dh has his failings, but complaining about aches and pains isn't one of them. In fact, he is incredibly stoic and never complained once during the painful unpleasantness of his cancer investigations and treatment. He is actually pretty amazing in that respect, although sometimes a bit idiotic about refusing to take any painkillers/general medication even when he really needs to.

Herbs, your fellow students do sound like a more colourful bunch than mine. I think I should probably watch what I say about the other people on my course because loads of them look like S&B MN types (unlike me Grin ). I live in fear of my new bestie dropping out of the course, because I get huge joy from swapping sub-voce comments with her during lectures and I actually had tears running down my face yesterday when we went completely off-piste with our activity planning. At a totally inappropriate moment when we were supposed to be being Very Serious, obvs.

hattymattie · 26/11/2014 10:38

Happy Birthday HerbsThanks Thanks Wine Wine Wine .

Not much news here this morning other than finding a half melted lolly stuck to the bottom of DS's bin. We shall be having words.

Off teaching the half French kids later we shall continue with The Twits. I'm finding learn English via Roald Dahl quite effective.

NUFC69 · 26/11/2014 10:57

Ooh, happy birthday, Herbs. I hope you have a lovely day, course not withstanding. Are you going to do anything special?

Stropps, I love the way that whatever age we are we can still go into uncontrollable giggles - enjoy your fun with your new best friend.

I have decided I need to go to see the nurse practitioner. Two and a half years ago I had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery - the wound in my navel played up afterwards and I was going to see the nurse for several weeks. I noticed a few days ago that it was sore and I have just noticed that there is bloody gunk on my pants plus a couple of little blisters in the navel itself. Shock I think I need to have it looked at - it's itching like mad.

bigTillyMint · 26/11/2014 11:13

Ooh NU that doesn't sound good - get it seen to ASAP.

Hoppy Birdy Herbs Smile

Stropps, glad you're having fun with your new bestie - only way to survive that courseWink

I 5 ink my purple finger might be a bit less purple today, but it is feeling rather cold. I am going to try to register with a new GP as our surgery is beyond awful now.

Auriga · 26/11/2014 11:25

Happy birthday, Herbs.

DD now starting to worry about all the work she has to fit in. She had a lunchtime detention yesterday for being late with DT coursework but the school showed itself in a poor light. The teacher was 10 mins late for the detention because she went for a smoke Shock and none of the other girls turned up.

When I came to sign DD's detention slip, I found the other girls' slips were in with it, complete with details of the reasons for their detentions. DD said 'that explains why they didn't turn up'.

Bit low today - full of cold, have taken on too much work (bad example for DD), dreading Christmas & unable to make the simplest decision about it.

NUFC69 · 26/11/2014 11:26

I sympathise re GP, BTM. I have just spent six minutes on the phone trying to speak to them. And now I have been told that I can't book an appointment with the nurse practitioner - I need to ring in the morning. Sad Evidently appointments are only available on the day.
