Bootleg jeans- will I wear them again?

I'm having a clothes clear-out. I had a baby 5 months ago and all my pre-pregnancy clothes have just come out of a box in the garage as I finally fit in them again (yay!)
There are 4 pairs of bootleg jeans that I used to love and practically live in. But I've now converted my allegiance to skinny jeans. What should I do with the bootlegs? Is it worth keeping them? Will they come back into fashion? I'm being brutal as I'm over-run with clothes I never wear!

What are you wearing them with, Noddy? And most important of all, what shoes? Smile

Frye boots old ones and a white gap scoop neck t shirt navy cardigan

I recommend everyone tries skinny flares I saw a picture of myself in a pair at someones birthday party and didn't recognise it as me as they are so flattering

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 16/11/2014 11:15

I suit skinny jeans. I am tall and quite slim. I also have some high waisted jeggings (Topshop Joni) that "teenage girls" wear (cough 40 cough) and they are SO comfortable and flattering. They are great for baby groups as they sit snug around your waist and don't show builders cleavage off as you crawl around the floor. Smile

I will check out the skinny flare but I really hate draughts and cannot bear clothes next to my skin that have gaping and space like the boot cut does. I like to be kept snug and enclosed. I can't do boyfriend jeans either. Maybe if I lived in California next to the beach it would work...

FWIW I work in Soho and DP works in Shoreditch and skinny jeans are still very much the uniform among 20 somethings.

I have high waisted black skinnies and love them I think most jeans look ok if they fit well

IfNotNowThenWhen · 16/11/2014 14:25

Um...aren't skinny flares and bootcuts the same thing??
The worst WORST trousers (or singular Trouser in honour of s and b) is the tapered kind, sort of baggy at the top and narrowing to the ankle.
They make my arse look like it should have its own post code.

My favorite jeans, that I havn't fitted into since ds was 1, are actually high waisted but wide leg. Think 70 s style. Worn with shirts knotted at waist when I had a waist.

carlywurly · 16/11/2014 14:31

I really can't see what would ever get me out of slim fit straight legs now I've found them. Comfortable, practical and so bloody flattering!

Littlemoocow · 16/11/2014 14:36

What type of Jean is best depends on each persons shape surely. I get all the hatred of skinnies but to be honest, I don't think bootlegs are any more flattering on some people. At a size 12-14, I look just ok in skinnies and just ok in bootlegs. They both show that my thighs aren't my best feature, but at the moment I favour skinnies because they show my slim calves and ankles, bootlegs just go in at the knee and out again which makes my thighs look bigger. Each to their own I say, whatever you look best in and enjoy wearing.

I used to like bootcut. In retrospect they made me look fat and short, and I wasn't particularly either.

I do think it depends on your thighs and bum - mine are generous so any kind of slightly baggy bottom half makes me look distinctly matronly not in any way edgy.

Slim jeans are best for me and as I made it all the way through the skinny jeans thing without buying any I imagine I'll be able to ignore the resurgence of the bootcut similarly! I do fashion on my top half and feet only, not in between Grin
