Bootleg jeans- will I wear them again?

I'm having a clothes clear-out. I had a baby 5 months ago and all my pre-pregnancy clothes have just come out of a box in the garage as I finally fit in them again (yay!)
There are 4 pairs of bootleg jeans that I used to love and practically live in. But I've now converted my allegiance to skinny jeans. What should I do with the bootlegs? Is it worth keeping them? Will they come back into fashion? I'm being brutal as I'm over-run with clothes I never wear!

Kickflares are back actually, those and bell bottoms are the most fashion forward at the moment.

Skinnies aren't really fashionable at this point they are just standard.

If you want to be on trend then bootcuts should be skinny to the knee.

That said, personally I think you should wear what suits you and what you feel comfortable in. There are a lot of women wearing ill-advised skinnies who would look much better in a different shape.

Skinny flares are my faves and only really wear black skinny jeans now don't like blue Hmm

rollonthesummer · 15/11/2014 11:16

Skinny jeans won't be in forever, so if they're nice, keep them. I've kept a pair that I love!

I actually like skinny jeans-I've found a brand that fit, don't go baggy at the knee and I think really suit me, so am happy at the moment. They also look better with boots.

Skinnies have been in for years my ds is 20 and I was wearing when he was a primary school so i think they are a classic now. Older women seem to wear them more now people like Mary Berry Shock

jackydanny · 15/11/2014 11:56

I would keep them...lovely on warmer days with Birkenstocks and blouse.

Greengardenpixie · 15/11/2014 11:56

Keep them if you like them. Who the f*ck says you cant wear them?? Fashion??? You mean the people who make vasts amounts of money to condition you into a way of thinking??? Be an individual and wear what you suit. Skinnies look hiddeous on most people. They are clingy and give slim people fat legs. Shortens the legs. They ca be ugly. They look ok with boots but thats because they balance the leg with the boot at the bottom.
You will regret throwing them out...i am sure. I love my bootlegs. I have loads and will never switch. I suit them.

Greengardenpixie · 15/11/2014 11:57

Ooooh and i love love love kickflares!!! Love the hippy look.

bloodyteenagers · 15/11/2014 12:06

Jeans are jeans. You go into many stores and buy many varieties of jeans. You wear what you feel comfy in and not be a lemming.
I dont care what is deemed fashionable. Have you seen some of the 'fashion' out there, bloody hideous. I buy and wear becuase I like it, it's comfy and it suits my needs. But then I have never been a follower.

Floisme · 15/11/2014 14:04

It's taken forty-odd years but I'm just about through with jeans. I don't think any style is that flattering on most women and the line that you just have to try on dozens of pairs till you find the right one drives me nuts. Buying clothes really shouldn't be that hard!

SoonToBeSix · 15/11/2014 14:09

Keep then if they look good on you why does it matter if they are in fashion or not?

Hobby2014 · 15/11/2014 14:25

What footwear do you wear with bootlegs? I only ever wear skinnys, as I have no idea what to wear with bootlegs.

Greengardenpixie · 15/11/2014 14:28

converse, boots, any footwear!!!

noddyholder · 15/11/2014 15:08

I have to wear heels with them boots mainly

Trills · 15/11/2014 15:23

I still only wear jeans that go out at the bottom rather than in at the bottom.

They suit me better.

The Fashion Police have not come for me yet.

Floisme · 15/11/2014 15:24

I found shoes and bootlegs a pain in the arse last time around - I don't wear heels. I never worked it out and I haven't got the energy to try again. Life's too short.

noddyholder · 15/11/2014 15:27

I don't find it problematic choosing shoes to go with jeans! Grin It doesn't take up any time and I am quite happy to try on lots of jeans too until I like a pair.

IfNotNowThenWhen · 15/11/2014 15:41

Isn't the name " skinny jeans" genius? (Jeanius!)
I bet if they had been called " sausage skin jeans" they wouldn't have been nearly so popular! Most people look atrocious in skinnies really.
I am keeping my favourite bootcuts in a bag at the bottom of the wardrobe just in case.

Twinklestein · 15/11/2014 15:50

The great thing about any kind of flare is that you can wear high heels without anyone knowing. You can make yourself look taller and longer legged without looking tarty.

I met a new colleague of my husband's recently and he described me as 'tall and slim'. Mwahahaha. I'm 5'5" but was wearing skinny bell-bottoms and very high heels no-one could see.

Floisme · 15/11/2014 15:52

I can see the appeal of flares if you wear heels - but I don't.

I'm turning grumpy in my old age aren't I Grin

noddyholder · 15/11/2014 15:57

Grin I am like that about underwear I just won't tolerate anything I can feel

Nillia · 15/11/2014 15:57

Skinny bootlegs are definitely "in". Lots on catwalks and in shops. Skinnies will go out again. They have had a good couple of years now. Bootleg look great with boots (hence the name) and I love them.

FrugalFashionista · 15/11/2014 16:00

My skinnies are languishing as the non-jean tapered relaxed trouser shape and perhaps also flowy styles seem to have taken over and are much comfier to wear. My bootcuts are in storage at the moment as the 1990s shapes and plain straight jeans feel more current. If you keep something long enough it will have a comeback eventually - there was a WSJ article recently very high-priced vintage 1990s denim.

Floisme · 15/11/2014 16:01

Shock 1990s and vintage do not belong in the same sentence!

Floisme · 15/11/2014 16:05

Noooo not 501s again? Just kill me now.
