Bootleg jeans- will I wear them again?

I'm having a clothes clear-out. I had a baby 5 months ago and all my pre-pregnancy clothes have just come out of a box in the garage as I finally fit in them again (yay!)
There are 4 pairs of bootleg jeans that I used to love and practically live in. But I've now converted my allegiance to skinny jeans. What should I do with the bootlegs? Is it worth keeping them? Will they come back into fashion? I'm being brutal as I'm over-run with clothes I never wear!

I know... Did not hang on to those I'm afraid...

But love the idea of wearing a favorite very basic pair of jeans from mid-2000s that looks a lot like what many fashionistas are wearing wear right now - very Acne. Columbine Smille wore them last year which means that we all might be wearing them next year Wink

Frugal, that picture of the lass in the green coat..she looks like she picked up her short mate's jeans in the gym by mistake! Short flappy Jeans with stilletoes. Nooo.
And the 90s is most certainly NOT vintage! Is it ....?Is it??

Tanaqui · 15/11/2014 16:41

On the subject of shoes- I like bootlegs with converse type shoes, or if too long for that, a 70's style wedge- love wide legs with wedges at the moment.

Tanaqui · 15/11/2014 16:42

And I had some gorgeous dark green 501s in about 1990- I wish I still had them!

Trills · 15/11/2014 16:45

The 90s are 20 years ago...

Trills · 15/11/2014 16:48

Do not like the mid-blue jeans at all.

noddyholder · 15/11/2014 17:12

My son and his mates have been known to go to 90s nights at local club I want to cry.

However just spent an hour trying on old bootlegs and now feeling slightly less grumpy. Rediscovered some Gap Long & Leans, some Levi 519s and best of all some Citizens of Humanity Ingrids (a fiver from a vair posh jumble sale as I remember). They've gone at the knee but I have to say, my arse looks fabulous Grin
So just need to refigure the shoe thing and then maybe I'm in.

noddyholder · 15/11/2014 17:43

You don't need to do high heels just a slight heel although if everyone will be looking at your arse plimsolls will do

Floisme · 15/11/2014 17:49

Grin Plimsols then!

Rivercam · 15/11/2014 17:53

Is there a difference between bootlegs and boot its? I thought they were the same thing.

As a classic pear shape, boot cuts suit me and skinnies don't( I'm wearing a pair now). Wear what suits your figure, not waht the fashion police dictate. A skinny pair on the wrong figure will look worst then a bootcut on the right figure.

Rivercam · 15/11/2014 17:53

Boot cut not boots its

Tanaqui · 15/11/2014 18:01

Wish gap still did long and lean :(

PetiteRaleuse · 15/11/2014 18:04

Bootcut jeans are on their way back, at least to the high street. I do translations in the fashion industry and there is a lot of 90s fashion coming back in. I know sfa about fashion, and assume the new bootcut won't be identical to the old bootcut, but I can't tell the difference when I look at the designs tbh.

Floisme · 15/11/2014 18:10

They're insanely low waisted though Tanaqui - I'm not quite sure I'd want to go there again!

Tanaqui · 15/11/2014 18:20

Were they? I must have shelved that in my memory (and I didn't have better abs- my fave pair were bought just after ds2 when nithing else fitted!)

Floisme · 15/11/2014 18:32

I'd forgotten too - it was a bit of a shock!

IfNotNowThenWhen · 15/11/2014 19:02

I hate those really high waisted jeggings the young girls wear. The proportions look all wrong to me. I think in the 80s, last time high waists were in they weren't quite so high, or tight. Plus the leg warmers sort of balanced it out.

PetiteRaleuse · 15/11/2014 21:40

Waists were different in the 80s though. Our figures are changing.

jimmycrackcornbutidontcare · 15/11/2014 21:44

I hate skinnies. I haven't seen anyone who can pull them off. I'd wear the bootlegs because they are nicer and you probably look better in them.

mummytowillow · 15/11/2014 21:57

What's so wrong with them though? I have sausage legs in skinny jeans and find bootlegs really comfy!

Am I making a huge fashion mistake?

PetiteRaleuse · 15/11/2014 23:46

I think that as far as jeans go, that if you look in the mirror and have no complaints, or, even better, a yay, they look good, then they are fine.

PetiteRaleuse · 15/11/2014 23:54

Jeans are marketed as a staple item of clothing. But so many styles are unflattering to loads of people. I think if you find a flattering pair of jeans (or anything else actually) you should stick with it.

noddyholder · 16/11/2014 09:10

I am wearing long and lean today :)
